Shaved, wire tucked, and custom engine bays? part 32

Serkan 04-12-2013 02:50 PM

The picture makes it look flat, prolly because of the lighting and angle.

It will be same color as exterior which is white.
Smurftastic 04-14-2013 08:52 AM

For those that have plugged the recirculating evap line coming off the intake manifold that goes back into the turbo inlet are you just letting the evap line run to the atmosphere and plugging the inlet, or plugging both the intake manifold and the inlet?
The abs delete is easy. Just get a Brighton non-abs master and relocate your stock dizzy block. Get some 1/8" line and a flaring tool. Re-use your stock m10 fittings and get some nice line clamps to hold them to the body. Takes me about 3-4 hours to do an entire system. D-Moneys setup is sweet but way overkill and over thought. I bet pretty pricy too. My next setup will have an adjustable bias controller and a hydraulic e-brake I?ll be posting it in my Forester build thread after I part out the road course parts and buy the new stuff.

My new setup will be super clean. Especially with the radiator in the back... :)

Johann
Whats up johann!

Yes, i did it the way you mentioned the first time for under $100. Lol but to build the car i wanted, i had to go all out. The setup i did was obviously not for everyones budget.

Lots of nice bays popping up! Keep em coming
Bad Wagon 04-15-2013 03:28 PM

Not much man. Just working on crazy frankencars on the DL like I usually do.. lol
calebtharrell 04-16-2013 12:46 PM
another new setup pic of mine. not even close to fully done but the turbo setup is done. sits more like a k20 in a Honda or rsx sitting forward instead of sideways like most rotated setups
Are those Spike Nuts from Downstar Inc.? I plan on installing some on my car and your car is the first Subaru I have seen them on. You beat me to it! haha The only other place I have seen that sells them is ProBolt USA. Your bay is coming along great! Keep up the good work!
11STIxx 04-16-2013 06:17 PM

And to think I've seen people have trouble hiding stereo install wires - these installs are amazing! really nice work on that tubbed engine bay, can't wait to see how it turns out!
Lukas_vee23 04-17-2013 09:25 AM

Nightshift performance did something like that to their bugeye but hondas dont have nearly as many wires on top as subarus

Haha yeah bro they are downstar bolt boys ones. I've had them for about a year and a half now and that's why I did them cause no other subys had them. :)
Smurftastic 04-21-2013 06:08 PM

Just plugged the evap lines coming out the IM and going into the turbo inlet, and let the evap line vent ---- is the only way to get rid of the evap CEL to delete it with an accessport or do I need to plug the evap line too?
ScoobyJD 04-28-2013 03:29 AM

Bump!
superbike81 04-28-2013 07:37 AM

Great thread!

I'm building a Factory Five 818 kit car and I want the engine bay to be very clean. Won't be using power steering or A/C, does anyone have a pic of a WRX engine bay with the power steering and A/C deleted?
arisking 04-28-2013 10:52 AM

Here. Somewhere in this thread/site.

Thanks for the pic, looks great!

Has anyone with a more stock(ish) setup done a PS and/or A/C delete? I'll be using a TMIC setup for simplicity. Turbo location will remain stock as well.
arisking 04-28-2013 12:13 PM

No problem. Wish my bay looked like that. But I enjoy my PS. Haha.
Big-Sexy907 05-01-2013 08:08 AM

Anyone thought about going with a electric PS Pump from a MR2?

Are there electric water pumps available for us?
Jackie leggs 05-01-2013 08:19 AM

Why would you want an electric water pump? It is out of sight under the timing cover.
Big-Sexy907 05-01-2013 09:00 AM

Cause I was considering running no covers and going with custom billet pulleys...
vms150 05-01-2013 09:39 AM

You would need a shorter timing belt then or still need an idler pulley in that spot to replace the water pump pulley there. Seems like an awful idea.
under0athh51189 05-02-2013 01:52 PM

a few new pics. not even close to being finished yet, just waiting to get it home from tuning then gonna start installing all my chasebays stuff and get ready to pull the motor for the full shave

I just don't understand how you could spend so many countless hours cleaning up the engine bay and then slap a bunch of gigantic stickers all over your windshield/fender/bumper. I have a ton of respect for the work you have put into this, but I can't help but feeling like those stickers take away from the cleanliness of the car/bay.

I have to agree. I love the work you're doing other than that. I've got one company sticker on my car and they gave me a sample of their product to install and use. And even then, the sticker is small and subtle. Again, strong work otherwise.
under0athh51189 05-13-2013 09:05 PM

Yeah I feel ya on the stickers but they are all sponsors so I've gotta support them.

Nice metal work... Almost don't need filler, I'm jelous
Big-Sexy907 05-18-2013 12:08 PM

Was that replaced with single bent sheets? It looks fluid and smooth!!! Tell us your secrets!
Serkan 05-18-2013 01:11 PM

I cut out all the factory sheeting on both sides and replaced with 16 gauge sheet metal.

There are no secrets really. I measure 10 times and cut things gradually to get perfect fit.

I can give you an example.

The walls on the sides are one piece and they measure different in every corner.

The measurements aren't exact but to show you how to do it in steps. You cut you try to fit, if it needs more trimming, cut more. Don't try to cut it one time and expect it to be perfect.
