Shaved, wire tucked, and custom engine bays? part 48

thehollowrift 11-06-2014 07:36 AM

I love these updates. Only thread on nasic I check immediately. Well done guys. Maybe when I win the lottery I will attempt this feat.

Hollow, i don't have pics of mine as is a slow process for me, as money permits, but if you're in no rush to have it done, you can chip away at it
Recoil 11-07-2014 12:09 AM

I've been building my car for a year. I've probably got two more to go. Don't let money be the limiting factor, budget and go slow!

Shaving the engine bay has been like the cheapest part of my build. Also, the most time consuming. haha.

Very true.... The longblock was much more financially damaging than shaving and tucking the bay.

I am finally reaching the end of my year long project. Shaved bay, relocation of turbo to the foglight... Everything is ready to go! I need to route my scavenge pump lines and hide them and its ready to start!

Ohh.... My lord.

Wow. Whew.

That I.C. Pipe looks scary though.

My car sits at a stock ride height. My subtle lip constantly finds the ground.

Dudes brave.
Psychoreo 11-07-2014 09:13 PM

That can't be the final setup for the IC pipe. The inlet should go straight into the IC, then his top pic shows the cold side pipe coming up from the driver side.

I hope.

Because otherwise

No. This wont work as a "final solution" this pic was right after install and before I started my engine bay. The scavenge and hot side will sit up higher out of harms way. It does sit higher than this picture makes it look. Still low but manageable. The scavenge is what scares me and not really visible in this pic. I'll post the front end once I get it back together and it will be much less scary.
jamesdrewh 11-11-2014 12:25 AM

Damn i need to get to tuckin
RavensFan7 12-04-2014 12:32 PM

I moved my battery and got a smaller fuel filter...still need to remove the battery tray though. Might do that and paint the bay in the spring.

All the room makes it easy to work on, which is all I really wanted for my daily.

After almost two years of rocking my fuse box in a ghettofied setup in the front quarterpanel, finally got around to extending part of the wiring harness and relocating into a watertight junction box... so much better.

Make a bigger hole in the fender liner so more water can get in the fuse box. That taping will not last too long.

Are you cats routing the driver side wiring harness back through the firewall or through the front?
ScoobyBlack 01-19-2015 01:03 AM

What are you guys with STi's doing with the front (smaller) breather on the valve covers? I know that the rear (larger) breather T's into the case vent, but my impression with the front breather was just that it T's back into the intake? Are the front breathers able to be capped or is this inadvisable?

I guess I should've phrased that better lol I don't like that you have to reach up in the wheel well. Plus water getting in there isn't something I'm fond of. Regardless it makes the engine bay look cleaner

Also a lot of people think it costs a lot of money to shave a wire tuck an engine bay in these cars. All it takes is a little imagination, the know how and around 300$ that's all I have in this engine bay (in the shaving and wire tucking) everything is yet to be powder coated that's the very last step

Do you track this car ? If so I wonder what your coolant temperatures are like ?

Also I don't see any ducting to the intercooler (looks like there is but hard to tell) The air will escape to the sides . You want to force the air thru the intercooler. Just saying. Looks great, I love it.

Serkan it is ducted out the hood. It has awesome intak manifold temps.
It is normally about 5-10 off ambient
I don't track the car but I do take it on drives that push it I am running around on nt01s
The engine temp is great it has flexlight fans but they hardly ever come on even in the texas summers
The radiator capacity is twice the stock one
I'll post a picture of the ducting in a few

Obviously still a work in progress, but this is how I'm removing my brake hydraulics from the engine bay. Got a pair of Wilwood compact masters and I'm mounting them directly to the pedal assembly. It's a tight, tight fit.

I'm going to brace the area of the firewall where the master would normally attach through to the pedal assembly, then bolt the flange on there for support to the assembly.

Had to move the mounting about 3/4" to the left to clear the steering column, but I should be able to work with this.

Ordering a proper wilwood balance bar to replace that cheesy steel plate I have on there right now, then I need to get some braided line so I can remove the pedals without opening the system, and I should be able to do the rest of the plumbing and see how it feels
