Post pics of your gauges setup part 48

blk05wrx 01-29-2010 02:36 PM

I've had the performance series for about 5 months. So far, so good.

Oil pressure wasn't hooked up yet in this picture b/c I was waiting for the galley plug relocation kit. I hooked it up the weekend after I took this shot.

can you get some more pics? like, farther back, and from the driver door lookin in, from the front of the car and just different angles

Sorry, it's dark when I leave for work, and dark when I get home so the pictures won't turn out good. :sadbanana:

Here is a little better view after I got the Oil Pressure gauge working and adjusted the mount and the clips a little so it sits flush with the dash. It matches the dash b/c it's a factory piece, it's just modified to fit 52mm gauges.

You can buy it from scoobytuner.com http://www.scoobytuner.com/products/?sfID1=13&sfID2=35&productID=40

I painted the mounting bracket flat black b/c I thought the silver looked a little out of place.

I run ProSport performance series green/white gauges. (Boost, Volts, Oil Pressure)

Here is a pic in the dark, didn't turn out all that great. The only thing that is a little weird is that the prosports are so much brighter than the factory dash.

If you're going to run an oil pressure gauge, get the relocation kit if you're not going to run a sandwich adapter. I get the oil changed and the dealer and I didn't want them to mess with the sandwich adapter so I hooked the oil pressure sender to the galley plug under the intercooler. The relocation kit is a MUST.

Does anyone have a pic of the ATI EZ pod? The one that mounts on the steering column.
oly kenji 03-01-2010 06:31 PM

^same question
nismo_832 03-07-2010 06:38 PM

haha blk05wrx, we have almost the same setup!

i too have prosport gauges (boost, oil temp, oil press.) in the wrxtra.com gauge pod.

my pod required a little dremmel action to get the gauges to fit up just like i wanted them to, but i am very happy with them in the end!

oh and i do love the stock look that this adds to the interrior!

it has been my observation that the prosport green is a closer match to the green used in the center console (i.e. radio) as opposed to the stock gauge cluster.

and in this picture the gauges are not hooked up to their sensors, just wired. i took this picture just after an electrical test to make sure that they lit up properly haha.
Anyone have STRI gauges? How do you like them?
I have very mixed feelings about mine. I got the 52mm STRI X-Line gauges with the smoked lens and the white LEDs. They're impossible to see in sunlight. However, they're very nice to look at when the sun sets. My oil temp sender or gauge failed within 2 months of install. STRI USA is gone and US sales and customer support is handled by AutoTech Interiors. To say their customer service ****ing sucks is an understatement.

So +1 on the graphic design, -lots on everything else.
Smoke 03-07-2010 08:34 PM

Hmm, I was thinking of getting the DSD ones with the amber LEDs and white faces.

Looks good. I forgot, I had to dremel my pod a little too so they fit.

not a fan at all. Would have been better if you would have just molded more to the corners of this center piece and left as much vent as possible. You need your vents man, can't be taking out such a needed item, especially seeing as your outer vents don't transport that much air as it is.

Also by the looks of it, not very smoothly done either... looks rather rough and you can see a lot of dimples in the material.

DEFI Advance CR Boost, Oil Pressure and Oil Temp. These are in a wrxtra pod and fit perfectly. The controller is mounted on the back of the glovebox and the tiny control is mounted in the glove box to stay out of sight. Oil pressure sender fit under the alternator and the temp gauge is behind the alternator and ac compressor right by the coolant crossover pipe. Also installed the PROVA steering wheel while I was at it.

06HAWKMAN 04-26-2010 12:28 AM

Ok got a quick question, I have an 06 WRX and want to install an oil temp and pressure gauge which I already have but have run into a snag. I dont really want to mount the senders under the intercooler and alternator so I was planning on getting a oil sandwich adapter, however I have read that those will hit the exhaust manifold heat shielding and also and oil return line. So my question is, if I get the grimmspeed headers without the heatshielding, and slightly bend the line will it be able to work? any suggestions would be great!
nismo_832 04-28-2010 12:31 AM

^^^ I want to say yes hawkman, IIRC, it is the heat sheilding that causes the clearance issue, however i would contact the manufacturer of the sandwich adapter directly and see if they know of any fitment issues with your specific model!
ricerhater 05-01-2010 12:49 PM

Autometer cobalt in autometer pod. Blocks 0-2K on the tach, and I have to slightly move my head for the temp. I like it right there and works for me.

CGM6 06-28-2010 01:21 PM

Just an FYI on the VMR gauges...

I had mine for ~3 months (was owned by someone else for 2 months before hand). The look is extremely clean there but:

a.) you REALLY have to look down and out of the way to see it (not much different than other setups I suppose)
b.) The gauge that came with mine quit working after those 3 months-it was constantly sticky and never seemed to work "normally"
c.) the A/C still blew through just fine :)

Just putting my .02 out there as a former owner. Again, it's deffinently neat and unique, but I wouldn't go that route again due to the questionable quality of the gauge itself (assuming the previous owner didn't do anything to it)
ryan2.5 06-28-2010 03:30 PM

i havnt measured but i wonder if the factory boost gauge will fit.
