Shaved, wire tucked, and custom engine bays? part 25

Smurftastic 06-11-2012 05:36 PM
the fuse box doesn't get dirty at all really in the fender as long as you either have A) something covering it B) have your fender lines. Hell, my fender liner is partially ripped and I have nothing covering mine and it barely has anything on it the few times i've pulled my bumper off.
I was thinking about using a big freezer bag and some zipties... any othee better setup?
EvileyeZ88 06-11-2012 05:46 PM

That's what I did, hasn't given me any problems in the almost 10,000 miles its been that way.

Cool. I just relocated the windshield washer reservoir and now need to relocate to battery and ecu. Still need to figure out a smart way to clean ip the fuel lines after I put in an in-lone fuel filter.
haberkorn 06-11-2012 06:21 PM
Your location says Colorado. My catch can came from PFS in Indiana. They did say that the canister was sourced from an outside vendor. That be you?
Yes...the outside vendor is the company I work for.
WiRX 06-12-2012 04:58 PM

Here is how my fuse box ended up. When i get more time I may put it under the seat depending if I run into any issues with the fender location.

dudley123 06-12-2012 11:07 PM

This count..?

Hole in ctr of bay is for the Milspec connection. All reservoirs, Master cyl, braided lines, tucked behind the dash/fenders and bumper.

Dont use a freezer bag thats so ghetto. Use a abs box. Go to Home Depot pay 20 bucks.

Who is rocking that ABS delete by chase? I know JJ/joy has it but wanted to get input for how it is on the street? D did you use there kit? I feel like you custom made yours.

My buddy has it on his 06 WRX and it's trash. You have to remake half the lines, and the push rod they send for the brake pedal is the wrong size. Wilwood doesn't sell it because apparently ChaseBays makes they're own push rod.
richy_21 06-14-2012 07:33 AM

Oh damn that's no good. Sigh I was kinda pumped to buy there kit. So basically everyone is making there own then?
buddsautoparts.com 06-14-2012 09:44 AM

We will be installing one this weekend. I hope... Ill let all of you know.
D Money 06-14-2012 01:08 PM

Jj is going to be cnc'ing their own kit at iag. It will be for sale soon.

current tires that are on the vehicle are 315/30/18s all around..
dnorton 06-15-2012 08:02 PM

Well guys, Mine isn't has clean as most and mines a little busy but it's all I can do with what I got. Thought I'd share, Did all the powder coating and porting myself.
Pidgeon 06-16-2012 01:47 AM

nice bay, but no where near tucked, or anything, you still have the stock piece in that is taking up half of your bay..
dnorton 06-16-2012 08:09 AM

^^ Yeah, That's why I wrote what I did :-) Still wanted to share a stock engine bay with a few customed parts.
Smurftastic 06-25-2012 12:52 AM

@ Richy thanks for the heads up - picked up an ABS box today for the ECU relocation.

I'm still trying to find an intelligent way to relocate all the crap on the side of the passenger strut tower to a location outside of the engine bay. Currently I'm hiding things in the space behind the strut tower, underneath a strut bar, and it works okay, but it's not a true relocation. Any advice on this would be much appreciated, I shall continue researching..
richy_21 06-25-2012 06:00 PM

Good deal! I returned a spare one that melted sitting in the back of the Terdcell lol. Let me know if you need any help!
Smurftastic 06-25-2012 06:45 PM

Once I get past the basics of battery and ecu relocate, there will probably be a few things I'll ask your wisdom on, like fuel and boost lines.
richy_21 06-25-2012 07:41 PM

Sounds good! Good luck and set aside time!
sue's roo's 06-26-2012 05:07 PM

So does anyone offer a alternative kit? Or should I risk getting a chase bay?
If it comes down to it I could source all my own lines..But I'm lazy ha

onesicksoob 08-02-2012 07:48 PM

It's getting there...just need a few mor odds and ends then tear it all back apart for clean up and final assembly.

How are the MCs on those pedals not completely in the way of feet? They look like they're right where my heels would go.
vision.dynamix 08-02-2012 10:35 PM

False floor maybe?
2point0 08-02-2012 10:53 PM

Maybe...the plumbing looks odd though. At first I thought it was upside down just sitting on the floor before mounting.
2006whitesti 08-03-2012 12:07 AM

False floor is going to be hard to pull of, unless the owner is 4'10". Measuring my pedal box the floor would have to be raised at least 4" and that would be tight.
onesicksoob 08-03-2012 06:49 AM

I will be using something like this:

I'm 5'11 and fit perfect...everything is built around me. My heels are 3 inches higher than with normal pedals, but the pedals are higher too. It doesn't sit much farther back from stock, maybe an inch or so. Here is a rough idea.

2point0 08-03-2012 02:56 PM

Ok, right on. That plate makes a lot more sense.

Looks good, btw! Didn't mean to jump in and be all "wtf is wrong with your car?" I like that pedal style, too. Looks "all business."
jasoncanseeoh 08-03-2012 05:44 PM

What are most people doing about relocating the power steering reservoir?
I've seen people create custom reservoirs, but have yet to find out where others are relocating theirs.
scby rex 08-03-2012 06:02 PM

Into the grill area on some.
jasoncanseeoh 08-03-2012 06:26 PM

I see. So all you have to do to relocate it is basically extend the hose?

No worries. I'm used to having to explain it. :)

This thread reminds me of how incredibly far I still have to go on my engine bay. I bought an ABS box for the ECU relocate and still haven't managed to finish that up :\

I think if you relocated the battery it would look pretty sweet
Smurftastic 08-05-2012 07:08 PM

That is definitely on the to-do list. Battery + fuse box would really clean up the driver's side. Then I need to start figuring out how to hide other things.

Here is another picture from yesterday:

I was staring at your engine bay for about 5 mins yesterday, had no idea it was yours.

Looked pretty good

As far as hiding your fuse box, you've already got a head start, your fuse box it pretty easy to find a new home for.

For your battery get yourself a odyssey pc680 and either enjoy how much smaller it is than the optima, or relocate it under the passenger seat. (There's a pretty good write up for that floating around here somewhere)

P.S. get rid of that spectre filter cone, your turbo will be much happier, ask me how I know ;)
404 tuck not found.
Look closer...

No washer fluid reservoir, ebcs bracket, air filter box, and a few other random wires here and there.
Smurftastic 08-05-2012 08:16 PM

Thanks man appreciate it. Right now it's just a matter of investing in a quality battery relocation kit and then investing the time to relocate everything :)

@onesicksoob - while I have made some progress as noted above (notice, not only the fluid reservoir relocated to the trunk, but that whole side shaved down) I still have a LONG ways to go. Such is the life of a married man who works too much :)
D Money 08-05-2012 09:17 PM
