Getting closer, but only about 80% happy with it at this point. Honestly the farther I take it, the more work I feel I need to do. :/

Got the car back from its speed density tune. Putting down 390 WHP that I am quite happy with :)

I also fixed up the engine bay and got it finally done the way that I wanted.

That's a wild amount of work. I can't even seem to get my block clean to bare aluminum, much less polish that thing!
4eat_powah 07-21-2013 04:42 PM

I love the look of a extremely clean engine bay. It always brings tears to my eyes when I see an immaculate and well built engine bay on an even more beautiful car
Smurftastic 07-21-2013 07:49 PM
what radiator shroud/radiator are you using?
The radiator is by Gimmick Motorsports, the rad shroud was fabricated by Breel in his shop, and then modified by me to fit on the Gimmick... which has kind of a funky non-OEM overflow spigot setup.
erok81 07-23-2013 07:58 PM

What are you guys doing with the pcv stuff? That's probably 80% of the hose mess on my car. I've moved the fuse box, battery, windshield sprayer...I just don't know what do to do with the pcv system. I've got some clean up ideas but want to see what others have done.

That's what I was thinking. Black lines though. Maybe some 90* an fittings coming out of the valve covers to keep them closer to the block.

Do it like this.

Hey guys, figured I'd post this. A tip or two perhaps...

Just starting a wire tuck on my buddies Bugeye.

Here you can see the wires I moved back through the grommet in the pics below on the side of the car. The fuse box piece with all the relays had to be de-pinned and pulled through to separate everything properly and to get it to work.

Here are the connections to be pulled through:

The hole pictured is what I'm pulling through, grommet is moved aside here:

This is the only connection that will need to be extended, 3 wires need to be lengthened I believe:

Here's a pic of the wires ran through, still lot so fslack to play with:

And here are the connections inside, not placed in any particular way as of yet:

AND SORRY, PHOTOBUCKET WON'T LET ME ROTATE PROPERLY. HAHA.
erok81 07-24-2013 07:06 PM

That's a good idea. I'm halfway through mine into the fender. But under the dash sure would be easier to find a blown fuse. Although I don't think I've ever blown a fuse in that box in any car I've owned...
arisking 07-24-2013 07:32 PM

It's a way better and easier idea than the glove box. We are just about finished the fuse box now, will have pics later.

It is quite accessible.

That fuse box seems like too much work. Mines in my fender. Didn't extend any wires or anything. Super easy and easy to get too. Quick release bumper.

Fuse box tucked up above the pedals more so than the crappy cell picture dictates:

Floor is clean from wires. Only one of the cables will be used there, power. The other cable is a ground. Buddy moved it in is bay because he thought he had to. But we'll ground it in the trunk:

Cable mess more organized:

I will try to get better pictures. These are garbage because I only carry my S3 on me, not a camera. Haha. Wires will be made cleaner too. This is the mock up stage:

Also, I only had to extend ONE wire. So awesome. My fuse box to glove box relocation was lame compared to this.

Enjoy.
kpluiten 07-25-2013 07:41 PM

Please insulate your main power wire fare better than with electrical tape. It looks like you wrapped a bolt or something and I promise that will rub through and ground out eventually. Not good. Big fire. Other than that, great job.

Thanks for that advice though and the compliment.

Strong work. I have all my stuff powder coated (it's my side business) or zinc plated. So fresh, so clean. There's nothing like a box of freshly plated bolts. :D

I'm enjoying your build. Keep it up.

if any of you guys care doesn't have to do with shave and tuck but got my dyno video up finally. made 330whp conservatively on a dynojet and 16psi stock 2.0 at 115k. slow spool but when it does it hits hard. feels great. 2.5 coming soon

They are soldered but if you bend it just right (and carefully) you can get that last screw out and it all comes apart.
arisking 08-09-2013 03:36 AM

When I took mine apart I just unsoldered it. Wasn't that hard to do; like anything else on these cars, just time consuming.

erok81 08-10-2013 06:57 PM

Where are you guys routing your main engine harness plugs? The brown and grey ones. My engine isn't in yet so I don't know how much slack I'll have to move them.

I was thinking of cutting a new hole near the back of the battery tray, running them in right there between the inner wheel well and the battery tray. Then putting a plate over the tray to hide the wires. But I don't know about slack in the wires for that.
ScoobyJD 08-11-2013 08:02 AM

If it helps I got rid of my abs and put it all into the cowl for less than 100 bucks. If you are willing to put the work in and make 100% sure it's right. You can do it yourself for much less.

I can make the lines and understand the routing but I'm curious who changed the mc1 to fronts and mc2 to rears, versus those who kept the diagonal layout. I also need to know what proportioning valve setups people have and pick the right configuration for my build.

I'm in a similar situation... I am running new lines and abs elimination, I'm also using an adjustable proportioning valve and hydro hand brake, so front and rear will be separate... I'm also debating power brake elimination, but I'm not sure what size master to use and how brakes will feel... Haven't purchased anything yet and still debating on whether to just go pedal box but I don't want to spend the money... Any opinions?
