Upper gaugepod + gauges. Want. Airbag pocket. Double want. :derp:
Watch out...that looks like its above the legal line of sight lines.
Looks cool so far!
I was afraid of that at first, but even the highest gauge just barely sticks above the hood scoop.... so there really is very minimal line of sight lost. I'll try to get a picture with it in the car tomorrow. But I had to unglue the gauge holders (PVC fittings) and re-align them. I have to squeeze them closer together and center them a little better before I lock them down with the fiberglass. So far I am really liking the setup though. Puts the gauges in a very easy sight line, but still stays out of the way enough for safe driving.

Word.....at least your thinking ahead.
You should glass it so that the front lip rolls over and fits behind the stock gauge trim and then its locked into position.....no brackets and a smooth transition.

With the thickness required to keep it rigid, I don't think the factory cluster bezel would fit over it correctly. The pod will be wrapped in vinyl to match the dash as close as physically possible so it really shouldn't stick out that much.
It is still a work in progress, but its coming along. I am running it like it is for a little while to "test" it and make sure that its not distracting or any way limiting the visibility before I finish it up.

As good of a perspective shot as I could get. The highest point is just slightly over the hoodscoop so there doesn't seem to be much (if any) loss of visibility so far.. but we will see.

Well that last design just wasn't working out. It was very functional and was not proving to have any visibility issues, but no matter what I would do it would never look as clean as I was hoping it would. So I ditched it and started on a new design.
My new and improved gauge pod in progress. Sits no higher than a standard clock pod, but with the ability to hold up to 6 gauges.
The new pod:

Can't share my secret ;) but the oil pressure sending unit broke and it's even harder to find that than the gauge itself..

Got some help from my buddy on Saturday and installed some VDO gauges into an OEM gauge housing. Oil pressure, boost and volt. Overall happy with everything and how they look and perform. Inexpensive gauges (about $30 each) and the gauge housing is a used one from WRXtra.com that I bought from a member here.

You're gonna have to pry it out little by little from the back of the gauge's face. It takes some time to finally get it out but its the easy part. The hard part was taking out the original LEDs. Well it is for me cos i used a big tip soldering gun. You might wanna use a pencil tip solder so it would be easier.

I get asked that a lot. I did it myself using a cheap autozone pod and a bunch of bondo. I heat molded the pod to the cluster trim, then added bondo to get that shape. Never took pictures of the process though...

Just installed this gauge yesterday / last night. Followed O.C.D's walkthrough, but modified how I ran the sender cable through the firewall. Turns out that the neither the fender NOR the wheel need to come off.
Picture angle is kind weird, but gauge is dead center on the steering column, and doesn't block and of the stock gauges from view

Wow, that looks like hell. You are saving up for a proper pod of some sort, right?
Piece of black PVC. Coupler. 2in wide flat piece of steel. Nylon strap.

Here's what I've got so far. Two 60mm in the center console inset in a custom flush pod. The guages are tilted towards the driver and centered. Special attention is required to retain the cig lighter plug. This piece will be painted to match the console piece it sits in, and later I will rebuild it in carbon fiber.

Trans temp (4eat), bewst, EGT in order along the top, oil pressure in the middle. CF pod from Taiwan (beautiful piece in person) and all Prosport gauges; they read perfectly accurate in my experience, although the senders seem to crap out easily. I still need to find room for the wideband, but only if I ever un-lazy myself and finish the next level of power modifications I've had planned for far too long.
Oh, they're green FWIW. And yes, the windshield has a gigantic crack across it.

Added some switches the other day.
The one on the left "connects" the diagnostic plug for flashing new maps. The one on the right is for switching to the secondary map with the Carberry ROM.
