Hey guys, I know this isn't about my own set up but I was curious and wanted to ask the question. I ordered a 2013 STI and I was wondering if I should be getting the Boost Gauge along with other gauges. Or would I not need it?

Boost, oil pressure, wideband air/fuel. Widely agreed upon as the three most important

Thats preference and budget. Defi and Stack are pricey and really accurate. If you want datalogging features, Zeitronix makes a system that I personally used. More cost effective and their gauges are dual function, or they have an lcd display that i used to display 4 functions at once

In my case, I dremmeled a small notch right where the hood ends and joins with the rest of the dash. The hood has some integrated clips, and kind of like a recessed border between these clips that hide behind the dash when the hood is in place. The notch is done on that border, enough to fit the wiring through but staying hidden under the dash. It looks like the wiring is squished between the hood and the dash, but it isn't.
Not a great pic, but you can see where the wires go into the dash:

At least that way there are no visible drilled holes on the cluster hood. After that, I ran the wires behind the cluster down to the fuse box for power, and behind the glove box for the wideband module.

Picked up a used 66mm autometer boost gauge for $20 yesterday. Opened it up and wired in 3 LEDs, then molded my old 52mm pod to work with the much bigger gauge. Used a dremel and heat gun, and modified the a pillar itself, but it needs more work. I'll refine it a bit more in the near future with body filler and whatnot.

I wanted to install my boost gauge somewhere that would not look out of place or something that was "added" for that matter, and at the same time be very clean. I was able to acquire the STI Genome Defi boost gauge. I don't really look at the gauge too often except when I look to verify correct vacuum and to make sure that I'm achieving the correct boost levels. So I went ahead and purchased the Subtle Solutions Gauge Bezel. I also decided to give it an OEM texture as well as retaining the factory 12v socket and light ring.

This is my second Autometer dual gauge bezel. The first one was flimsy and I ended up cracking it. The second one I think I got from ImportImageRacing but it wasn't advertised as an Autometer. When it arrived there was a piece of paper in it that had Autometer stamped on it with instructions. This one was a little darker and thicker. The top does not bend down like the first one (which was annoying).

Might want to pressure test that gauge and make sure its accurate. You shouldnt be seeing that much vacuum

"Seeing that much vacuum" As in what part.....like I said it used to...
hit 21-23psi while driving and letting off the gas NOW it hits like 17-19psi
and at idle/red lights it used to sit at 20psi NOW it only drops to 15psi:diaf:

It could be how you worded it and your units of measure. Vacuum reads in 'inhg'. -20inhg is around 9psi of vacuum.
So which is it?

See here for symptoms^^^^^my issues are only with what the gauge is reading in vac

the boost gauge does read in vac when you are not in boost....ie sitting at a red light/ letting ur foot off the gas while driving.

Yes.. I understand this. I feel like we've done this before...
Go look at your gauge... Above 0 will read in a unit of measurement known as PSI. Below 0 will use a different unit of measurement known as inhg.
Psi and inhg are not the same thing. However, they can be converted.

Still a work in progress, its a modified bezel where the clock usually sits. Turned it into a 3 gauge pod holder with some fiber glass!

External sensors for:
Boost
Fuel pressure
Oil pressure
Oil temp
Water temp
EGT
Speed
All feed to a controller mounted in the center console that can set warnings, replay peak, and can even record and playback. The display shows two gauges at a time and automatically displays anything in peak/warning. When idle for about 10-15 seconds, it begins to cycle thru everything, showing two gauges at a time.
