Post pics of your gauges setup part 45

Sp00L 05-04-2009 06:13 PM

i want to buy some nice gauges, but it seems like all the nice gauges have been discontinued, like the greddy SM's, and The Non BF Defi link gauges =(

anyone have any suggestions for me?

please someone post up 2008 + picks, I need some ideas, I have not ordered my gauges yet and not sure which ones I want to go with>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
wkderf 05-10-2009 12:22 AM

thought i'd post up my new setup.

they are actually gauges intended for the legacy GT, but with the impreza gauge pack housing, they bolt up just fine:

my current setup. prosport peak and hold boost, and the regular oil temp and pressure...the peak and hold is a little different tint and it sticks out about 1/4 inch further than the regular gauges. i wish i had know that when i ordered them....

Here's how my turbotimer was in my old WRX, you might be interested in doing it this way because of a better surface to adhere to and it never unstuck in 100 degree humid days on the east coast. Plus it almost looks factory the way it fits.

Get down to your local Radio Shack, and pick up some 3M SuperLock strips.

These utilize 3M's VHB adhesive, and have an "interlocking" front face that's Velcro-like (but better/stronger there, too).

The VHB will release the same as 3M's Automotive Trim/Molding tape, when used on interior surfaces - which translates into none of that mess that "industrial Velcro" leaves on your interior trim.

The VHB adhesive is virtually heat-proof at the temperatures that a car-cabin sees, even when baked in full sunshine for 8+ hours. Many of us speed-detection countermeasures enthusiasts (translation: radar-detector geeks ) use this to mount our stuff, and I've even got my ECUTeK dongle suspended upside-down by my driver's side kick-panel (I have a GReddy Informeter that's plugged in to my OBD-II port, most of the time), and it's never had any problems, far-surpassing *anything* I've ever used.

Hks camp2. it is plug and play. It goes from the obd2 port to a small control box. The control box outputs to the screen. Theres a receiver for the remote just below the screen on the left side. I only ran video from the control box to the d3 so that i can run an ipod to rca cable to the same input on the d3. Its nice having the gauge display on all the time with the ipod playing. The navi even works with the gauge display on. It just interupts the display for a couple seconds when you approach the next turn.

I could have built a carputer for the same price, but space is scarce and im not entirely sure i could manage to build and maintain a carputer properly... not sure how the components would hold up to the range of temperatures we see here either (-20 to 100+ f)

^ You know, I've never tried the Command before - I think I'll give that a try, too.

I honestly don't know if the Command adhesive is VHB-based - on their FAQ page, 3M lists that it will start to lose adhesion at 105 deg. F.....and thus, they don't really recommend it for automotive usage.

----

What I'm referring to, specifically, is this:

http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103345

Apparently, it sells under the "SuperLock" name only at Radio Shack, and is otherwise marketed as the "Dual Lock"

I've also wondered this myself. I have a center gauge pod that gets rid of my clock and it doesn't bother me at all. I always have my cell phone which has the correct time. Most of the clocks I've had in previous cars suck anyways and usually wind up 10-15 minutes fast or slow.

That's kinda the reason I didn't do them with the other pieces is because I didn't have a small enough screw driver to get behind them without scratching something up. So I am waiting till I start my V1 Concealed display. + the gauge pod took a lot of my time during my interior modding process.

Thought I could just do with this but apparently not; will need to still get another 2-3 gauges.

Boost because the Blitz unit I have reads from the OBD2 port (max 1.27bar).

EGT cuz the Blitz doesn't read it.

And maybe fuel pressure since the Blitz can only read 1 temp and 1 pressure, which is being used for oil temp and oil pressure.

Am thinking of the Defi Advance CR series.
^ What Blitz multi-gauge is that? I think I'd like to get one for the wifey's FXT..... Thanks!
It's the Blitz R-vit I-color.

I believe the latest R-vit is I-color flash which can do software upgrades or something to that effect and they also have the R-vit DS that hooks up to any LCD screen.

You might wanna know that temperature and pressure sensors/harness are sold separately. The main unit plugs into the OBD2 port and reads most things except temp/pressure (it reads water temp tho, from the OBD2) and a/f.

If you have any questions, juz holler. ;)
LGT+WRX 06-16-2009 10:34 PM

^ Thank you much. :)

I mainly just want to keep an eye on coolant temperature and the boost - which, I believe that this meter will read from the OBD-II interface, correct?

Yes, sir, you are correct.

However, the OBD2 port can only read till 1.27bar (the meter supports units change) max. So if you are boosting more than that, you might wanna consider another gauge setup :D

This one is Autometer:

I just want to be able to see my gauges with out leaning forward in my seat and with out them covering up all of my cluster. I'm not worried about covering up part of the cluster just not all would be nice. I've seen tons of pics of the autometer option but not so many of either perrin option. If you have pics post them or pm them to me if you could.

Thanks for the help.

i had the autometer knock off and loved it. it looks factory and doesnt cover up 50% of your cluster like the perrin. its made for the 52mm, but my friend enlarged the hole to fit 60mm in there

I just want to make sure I can see the gauges ok when I'm sitting normally in my seat. I don't want to have to lean forward to see my gauges. Does that sound lke the autometer one (or knock-off) will work?
