Shaved, wire tucked, and custom engine bays? part 11

subie12345 02-06-2010 05:49 PM

looks nice
pDubs 02-06-2010 06:03 PM

Jeeeeeeze-O. Dmoney, fantastic. I am really looking forward to more pics of the car and progresss. I love the way you are doing this car up, not a track whore, not a trailer queen. Perfect. I've been following this since you had pink rota boosts with white paint.
kjgerz 02-06-2010 06:09 PM

^you've never seen it when it had fresh MBP paint and work emos?

man i love all the color/paint matching and blue samco hose really gives it even more of a floating look! am I ever gonna get to see this in person D!? lol you gotta let me know if you're ever coming down south homie
altezza2impreza 02-06-2010 07:08 PM

^ MBP was probably the best setup since the blueness arrived. im pretty sure D could open up a consulting firm where he's gives advice on build ups and what goes great with what :)
D Money 02-06-2010 07:13 PM

Thanks guys! Yeah, I liked the black on gunmetal work emo's too. But it seems I started being well known when I brought out the pearl white on gold advans. BTW, the pink rota boosts was a joke for the annual sonic meet. I didn't really consider that anything special, it was just something to be funny with. lol

This by far is the most involved I have been with the car. Honestly, there isn't a part I didn't touch on the car.

I would never charge people to help them with their builds. I try to help everyone just people help me. It's what forums are all about....
D Money 02-06-2010 07:18 PM

btw, here was the bay before. Way different. LOL

Also the motor isn't just pretty. It's built/sleeved/big heads/big cams, etc and should make around 700whp.

Something to remember. I miss it. :(
taking it to the next level D...where did u hide the accessory belt?!!?
hahahahahahaha! I didn't get a belt yet. Oops!

But my pulley setup is gangster. Two brand new idler pulleys from subaru (with blue bearings to match ) and had brackets trimmed and fabbed up to make sure I had enough wrap on the crank pulley and alt pulley, but still was able to clear my intercooler pipe. Turned out nasty!
fallehero_08 02-07-2010 05:57 PM

more porn please D!!!!
chrisc75 02-07-2010 11:49 PM

D when u gonna have a yard sale for all your old setups lol
TROLL 02-07-2010 11:57 PM

D you ruined it... it looked so much better before!

:p

Did you ever post the tucked bay of your teacher, your inspiration, your life coach, and possible daddy? I wish you did yours first so I could have bounced off your ideas and improved on them instead of the other way around. I'm about to pull my motor and repaint my bay after shaving it all proper-like.
Ya done well though... :slow clap:
dub c 02-08-2010 01:36 AM

yo D moneyyyy I still think you should pick up a wiggens clamp for your TB-IC piping!
And what about that sti group n brake servo so you can toss out that brake booster? ...I know your trying to finish up your build, that would be kinda a hassle.
Srtkr 02-08-2010 02:00 AM

man that blue bay is hot
MCXL 02-08-2010 02:26 AM

I like the blue bay, but personally I prefer the old look.

Nevertheless, that is a pretty serious engine bay, and props for sinking the cash and time man.

I didn't want to weld on those things to my nice chromed tb and turbo. :(

The sti brake servo is nice, but I don't think im ready to drive a car with no abs and no air brakes on the road. I would probably die. lol

huh? I'm lost! LOL

But yes, we should re-do your bay! ABS tuck, filled and smoothed holes, and you're set! But we should just re-paint the whole car a wild color and put on just a front lip.
D when u gonna have a yard sale for all your old setups lol
D Money 02-10-2010 02:23 PM

Well that would be cool. What class do you think the car would be in? I'd hope in one under yours!

You can do it. Also, you can hide alot more things under the tmic as well.

At that point, I was on a 2.0L with a FP 20G 7cm, ewg, fmic, etc. The car moved nice but I hated the 6mt. I had to shift every couple seconds haha.

girodisc 03-01-2010 03:16 PM

D. The car is look great man. Really excited to see you finishing up and making good progress. Get a those stock fuel lines out and have a guy shorten and weld AN fittings on them so you can move them down by the frame rail and hide them. I am sure you have plans already but I just did that to a buddies car and it looks way cleaner.

My project took a break for a bit will I took on a couple small jobs to make some quick cash. I'll be back on it soon.

Just wanted to chime in and pat you on the back.

Thanks Johann! The stock fuel lines are ripped out. I just didn't have them out when these photo's were taken. I ran the entire fuel system in -AN, including the feed line and return line. I actually ran the lines through bell housing aread, under the car, right along the frame rail. I am very much excited to see your car finished, especially after you told me the secrets. ;)

Here is a pic of how my feed line goes to the distribution block and where the feed line will run from the fpr.

Just want to keep this thread alive, kinda pointless to post after D money but this is a work in progress for me. :p

Eventually the bay will get repainted, going front mount, either relocating or deleting the ABS unit and lines, re-doing the harness, relocating battery and fuse box, needless to say it will be an interesting bay so sorry for the dirty pic and bay, it's my daily :)

C & C is welcome. Front strut bar is getting replaced with a nice titanium piece ;)

Yea I noticed that in Tino's car.

I'm still undecisive at the moment but I think I'm swaying more into deleting it because I hate how the ABS kicks in.

I'm going the ABS delete route in my car as well

Seems like it's a secret ;)

I'm still undecisive on getting most of the holes shaved even though it looks nice, it's A LOT of work and I don't want so much downtime on my car, but it's still a big maybe.

I'm planning to move the fuse box to the fender, for those who have done it, can it be done without soldering or extending or most of the wires need to be cut and extended etc etc?

The only wires I am extending are the ones to the alternator and the negative cable that used to go to the battery.
F EVOZ 03-09-2010 01:16 PM

Thank you sir, I've been following your build also and like how you been tackling on the wires. May have to take some of your ideas ;)
xxscaxx 03-09-2010 01:59 PM

erol, you dont need to extend any wires to move the fuse box into the fender. i actually moved mine to the fender, but ended up moving it back to the engine bay

you just need to unclip everything from the fuse box, and then slide the wires back through the hole they are coming from.
xxscaxx 03-09-2010 01:59 PM

im also interested in any tips on how to move the ABS to the fender. i hate that big ugly thing.

Why did you put it back in the engine bay? lol

Maybe Bruce had to extend his wires to the alternator because he probably relocated it somewhere else...?
xxscaxx 03-09-2010 02:26 PM

i left my alternator wire, just moved the box. so thats prob why lol.

i dont know, i had the battery in the trunk and i got an 06 washer fluid bottle to move my 05 out, and then moved the box into the fender. but, i had nothing emptied out on the other side, and after a while it just started looking awkward to me being empty on one side so much and not the other.

but, to be honest, i just can never make my mind up about anything

Might be easier to move it up into the wiper motor area... Lots of room, runs the lines in the wiper area instead of along the firewall.
xxscaxx 03-09-2010 05:53 PM

wouldnt really matter to me, whatever is easier lol. D, you did that didnt you?
tino 03-09-2010 06:33 PM
Might be easier to move it up into the wiper motor area... Lots of room, runs the lines in the wiper area instead of along the firewall.
I think its too big for the wiper cowl.. as the lines cant going in at sharp bends so you also need to account for taht..

i think the fender is the easiest to accomplish and still have the majority of lines hidden..
Wintershredder 03-09-2010 06:41 PM

Awesome engine bay Dimitri(sp?). There is something that bothers me though. Your intercooler is crooked. It is lower on the left side. You can tell pretty easily just with your eyes. I noticed the passenger side intercooler mount bracket has the mounting holes cut higher than the driver side, positioning the intercooler lower on the passenger side. That kind of confirmed the visual crookedness. I know how anal you are about perfection, and nobody likes to see a crooked intercooler through your front bumper hole;)

Just figuring I would throw in my .02

Very nice other than that!:disco:

D Money 03-09-2010 10:31 PM

Thanks yeah, the intercooler was fixed. I ran my brake lines in the wiper cowl with black line and brass fittings over a year ago but I ripped them out when the bay got painted. I have since done them in polished brake line and -3AN earls fittings.
