OMG I hope this will be offical!! kimi is a GREAT driver and Ferrari can carry him into the spotlight (as soon as MS is out). I think this would be a great move for all the parties involved, but i wonder how much kimi will like blocking for MC??

either way GO KIMI!! :disco: :disco:
MattDell 08-03-2006 11:16 AM

I think it's what he deserves, but I would have to assume MS is leaving if Kimi is coming in.

Kimi would be stupid to pass up a red ride.

otoh two chiefs in one camp does'nt mix well.

MS is retiring to play with his wifes horses and ride his Harley's.
Chp_Stix 08-03-2006 11:50 AM

32 million eruos a year!!!! holy crap and I thought baskettball players made good money, they make nothing in comparison. thats like 64 mill USD i cannot believe these guys get paid so much for doing something i would do for free. although people might not want to watch me race around in my WRX bwahahah
StuBeck 08-03-2006 11:51 AM

Its not 64 mil USD, its like 36.

He has already signed for someone, I know this, its just who has he signed for. Its looking more likely that its Ferrari, I just hope this means MS is retiring.
meebs 08-03-2006 11:55 AM

If this is true (this info is coming from a tabloid) then it will be Kimi + Massa. This would explain all of the upper management movement.
Ferg 08-03-2006 12:05 PM

I said it in the big F1 thread and I'll say it again here...

when Alan Henry says, "There's no chance of Kimi and Michael NOT being teammates next season."... you have to believe him.

I'm starting to get excited by the thought of the strongest driver lineup F1 has seen since Prost-Senna.

The thought is exciting but to me seems pure fantasy. It just seems to go against the grain of the house that Michael built. I would be completely shocked if he stayed. Is it to early to start buying red stuff? :)
Ferg 08-03-2006 12:18 PM

It does seem like fanatasy, especially considering Michael's past taste in teammates...

Still, at this point I'm treating it as a fact that Kimi and Michael will be together at Ferrari for next season.

Of course this being F1....I'm 100% prepared to be 100% wrong
StuBeck 08-03-2006 12:33 PM

The main thing I don't understand is why Schumacher would suddenly change his stance and want an actual teammate rather than someone who can beat him. This is why his legacy will be tarnished compared to Prost and Senna (and many others in the past like G. Hill and Clark.) But it would make sense if he wanted to fix this and have his last season be with an actual teammate.
Ferg 08-03-2006 12:40 PM

I think you've nailed at least a big part of it Stu.

Schumacher loves Ferrari, he's 100% comitted to the team (especially now that they're winning again!) and I can't imagine him leaving the team with someone like Massa as team leader. Massa may be quick but he's not on the same level as Schumacher, Alonso, or Kimi, he's a second tier driver and always will be. Massa is not the future for Ferrari. Remember that even when Schumacher stops driving he won't really be "leaving" Ferrari. He wants to be sure the team will continue winning and everyone at Ferrari knows that right now the only guy on the grid who's a proven winner (and not already signed) is Kimi.
wvallwheeldrive 08-03-2006 01:01 PM

I'll state again what i said in the French GP thread, I think Kimi will drive behind MS for a year or 2. then take the reigns as team number 1
Ferg 08-03-2006 01:16 PM

I think you're half right...

Kimi will definately be driving for Ferrari next season, but not behind Michael. Kimi wants to win Championships more than anything at this point, he won't go to Ferrari if he can't race Michael. It's ridiculous to imagine him, after all these years of frustration with McLaren accepting two years of playing #2. Ferrari have to learn about racing and winning without Schumacher and they need to start learning soon.

Kimi's going to Ferrari alright, but he's going there as Schumacher's equal.

Or not obviously!

stupid F1!
StuBeck 08-03-2006 01:20 PM

Yes, if Kimi goes to Ferrari he won't be a #2, and he won't be shot down to a #2 like Rubens was. They will be equal and I think it will cause issues in the team because of the problems with switching after 10 years of having a 1 driver team.

Ross Brawn is out - http://www.planet-f1.com/News/Story_Page/0,15909,3210_3213_1381761,00.html
StuBeck 08-03-2006 01:24 PM

Yep, I see Schumi leaving after next year if he doesn't retire now, and Todt stepping down as F1 manager and just running Ferrari in 08.
FoxyWRX 08-03-2006 01:25 PM

I'd like to see Kimi vs Schu, I think the two of them could have some battles reminiscent of Senna vs Prost, it would be great to see. Hopefully Schu will stick around, and the team won't make him be Schu's beyotch like every other driver has been.
Ferg 08-03-2006 01:28 PM

Makes sense, DeMontezemelo should be Italian Prime Minister by then...
StuBeck 08-03-2006 01:36 PM

Todt's already running Ferrari if you didn't already know, but yea, I agree with him being PM
meebs 08-03-2006 02:45 PM

Here's a thought: Schu and Kimi together next year... but Schu as the role of Brawn to Kimi as Brawn was to Schu. :D

Well said and totally agree.
and to add:
I couldn't wish for anything more than to see a Scandanavian back in a Ferrari alonside a world champion. Schuy will have to eat his #1 driver status contract but it would surely make an interesting pair.
Who do u think could drink more beer? Kimi or Schuy?
Go Kimi

That would be somthing to see Kimi at # 2

I've always heard that Ferrari F1 cars drive much differently than most others (due to michaels extensive developmenbt towards his taste).

It would be interesting to see Kimi break through that barrier.

I'm sure it wouldnt' be that much of a problem for Kimi. I mean, Massa's managed to break it so far.

I remember when Michael drove an Arrows to offer some guidance regarding their development, which leads me to believe he knows how a car should properly handle. ;)

It would be interesting although I'm sure Kimi would adapt very quickly. Supposedly the Maccas are on the understeery side, which will suit Fred fine.
