where do you find that. i need that cuz i am the lip destroyer. $103, cant beat that. wait, does this lip flex (as in, when you drive fast, will it keep its form or flap in the wind)? im using this for street application.

um... i picked up what was left of this lip off of one of the Subaru Team USA Rally cars.... yes it can be broken... ;)
any front lip can be broken if you're hard enough on the car :lol:
it's not very "fancy"
and seriously doubt it's paintable...
it is rubber...
meant to deflect debris and control airflow for the most part....
but for once you guys are going function over fasion? :eek:
i'm amazed!!! :banana:

Here's one if you just want to get the feel of a rubber-type lip, or if all you're interested is to try to reduce the amount of airflow under the body. It flexes somewhat if you push with your fingers, but it seems to deflect very little when sprayed head on with water (through a water hose with the nozzle set for focused instead of spread pattern). Less than US$15 for all the parts. The lip has survived several incidents of road debris and parking on/off ramp scrapes.

It looks like that rubber lip is mounted over a Prodrive front lip. I wonder if it can attach to a stock bumper the same way... I need a rubber lip once my coilovers arrive :p

Someone should really make a fiberglass or urethane replica of WRC Rubber lip, or Prodrive lip.
I bet tons of people would want a plain, not too big front lip.

I would not want a glass or urthane lip
This rubber one should stand up very well and if you put scratches on it who cares. I am thinking of buying it and see if I can custom fit it to my STi.

i just bought the wrc rubber lip from that site japanparts.com for 11,500 yen. it is really really soft. not at all what i expected. it came rolled up in a box about 12" wide 12" long and 3" deep. i was expecting a bog long box with a front spoiler lip in it. if anybody wants it they can ebuy it from me if i cant return it.

I'm not sure if stiffer is necessarily better for a front lip. Suppose we ignore the issue of aesthetics (which is highly subjective imho), even though this is the Dress-Up forum.
Afaik, the main purpose of a front lip is to reduce the amount of air flowing under the body. Given a lip design as shown (side view):
|_______\ (type 1)
( --front--> )
Assume the lip is stiff enough to hold its shape (as in fiberglass lips), then one could also argue that the pressure buildup on the leading edge could also function the way splitters do, and provide downforce in addition to reducing the underbody flow.
Even so, depending on the angle and size of the lip, the additional amount of downforce may or may not be significant.
If we're only concerned about reducing underbody airflow, a lip with the following shape (WRC look) would probably work almost equally well, although there may be more underbody airflow compared to type 1.
|________| (type 2)
( --front--> )
The shape of type 2 can be achieved by either a stiff material of that shape, or a softer material which looks like type 1, but deforms to type 2 under a nominal constant speed.
From a practical point of view, making a type 1 lip out of a more flexible material that deforms to type 2 under normal operation would be beneficial in that the flexibility means improved durability with respect to debris impact. It could also be made to practically scrape the ground for better underbody flow reduction, something that a stiffer lip cannot practically achieve.
Looks like the WRC lip you purchased falls in that category.

Launsport WRC lip versus Home Depot

I had ordered the Launsport WRC lip from Japanparts, but checked out the DIY option at Home Depot. The WRC lip is also made of foam but it is firmer, less flexible than the garage door strip from Home depot. mainly due to the cross-sectional shape. I have installed the WRC piece on my 02 WRX. I don't have a WRC bumper/spoiler, but it fits fine. I may trim a bit around the feeble "brake cooling ducts" on my OEM WRX air dam.
I am happy with the WRC lip, but I have to question the economic value: $115 vs. $10. In hindsight, I would probably have gone the DIY route.

You guys that have it?
Do you think it can be customized to fit a 2004 STi
The lower part of the bumper is not even across, it has the two lower hangs on each corner.
What do you think can, it be done?
*************
My thought was to disconnect the mount part and cut the rubber
where the bumper comes down then re-glue the mount strip.
At least thats what looks like what can be done from the picture
