Excellent! If that Ferrari can hold together, I'd love to see it put the smack down on the 'Vettes.
9:30am on Saturday, eh? No way I'm waking up that early. :D

I am very interested in Lemans. I hope to see it nest year, although I will probably settle for going to see the Rolex 24. I am a Panoz fan, although those R-8's are awsome. I am also a huge fan of the movie Lemans. I really like the days of the 917 Porsche and 512s Ferrari.

/* dons flame retard(ant) suit */
Go 'Vettes! The Ferrari might have qualified first, but twenty-four hours is a LONG time.
As for Cadillac... Well... For being outspent 3:1 by Audi, they're not doing TOO bad. Not making excuses, I just wish the brass at Cadillac would pump some more cash in there. Run what ya brung, right?
/* flame suit off */
Cut me some slack, I work at GM, and have a shot of Makinen's car as my wallpaper anyway (besides, Subaru is the closest thing GM has to a rally car).

speed tv 2
Speed TV needs another channel. One for it's regular programming, and the other for uninterruped live events such as LeMans. Stops at 1.30pst then starts back up at 9.30pm pst. We're going to miss a ton of it. :(

Waahoooo!!!!!
Prodrive Ferrari is first in class and 16th overall. Giving those Vettes a BIG run for their money. Lets just pray the car can make it the distance.

If I were a betting man, I would take the 'Vettes. Ferrari is not a brand I think of when I think reliability. Of course Prodrive factors in there somewhere too. I'd like to see the Ferrari win, but I will not be suprised if it breaks down.
I think it's about time Porsche comes back with a full bore prototype car in the spirit of the 917, 956 and 962. Those cars were so dominant in their day!

Yeah, that Ferrari is a sweet looking ride. I don't look for it to be there at the end, though.
How 'bout that Morgan? That thing is cool! I'd like to see more footage of that car on the track.
Please, someone besides Audi win.

Well you guys were right, I notice that they were falling back but didn't know that had a engine failure. NOOOOOO!!!!
and they were doing so well.
Well maybe next year. If they can get an engine to stand up too 24 hours. They could win it. They were about 3 sec fast than the rest of the class. It was about midnight (LeMans time) when they had the engine failure.

It is a beautiful race car. There are some excellent race shots of the car in action at LeMans on the official 24 Hours of Le Mans website. They have excellent live coverage, BTW. They have some excellent pics of our Prodrive team.
This may seem like a stupid question, but I wonder why Prodrive chose the 550 Maranello instead of the 360 Modena. (I do love the 360 Modena.) I would have thought the mid-engine Modena would be easier to drive, lighter, etc. Anyone know why? Or want to guess?

Cause the customer came and said "I want to race this" while handing Prodrive a blank check. Actually according to that Race Tech article the customer was one of Prodrive's rally customers though they don't say which one.
Its sad to see the 550 retire but I just had a feeling that they wont last. It seems to take a few years to build up a team and a car that can last for the whole 24hours and right now the Corvettes just seem to be clicking right along in that sweet spot. I hope they bring that bad boy over here next year for some AMLS races.

I think LeMans is getting really boring in last couple of years.
Everybody knows AUDI is gonna win.
Time to make a new category in my opinion.
I like production car based category. Something like JGTC.

Nah, Prototypes are always going to be more popular. It's just time somebody else steps up to the plate like Porsche or Ferrari. The Bently, MG and Caddy just aren't cutting it. They don't put enough money and development into their efforts and it shows on the track.
Well it looks like I would have won if I were a betting man!
That Ferrari is the nicest looking GTS out there though. Better luck next time!

If I'm not mistaken you will see a 575 or two in the ALMS this season? Can't remember which article I read about that so just discount it as hearsay until it happens.
Anyway, who plans on attending Mid Ohio the end of the month? Not only will the ALMS be in action but the SPEED world championship series with the touring and GT cars, TransAm, and two of the bees in cans series (formula fords and mazdas). Looks like it will be an action packed weekend:D

I am just bummed that my team... the Dewalt Morgan Aero didn't finish... I was rooting for them the entire way. Them and MG. And neither made it :(
I was actually sorta happy to see the ProDrive ride ignite... who told them they can work on non subies anyway?! ;) heheheh j/k It let the Vettes take it, which I think is way cooler than the ProDrive Ferrari winning.
It was a fun LeMans to watch, Just wish SpeedTV would have done Flag to Flag

I was very disapointed in the coverage of the race. Maybe I got spoiled by the flag to flag coverage of previous years, but I became very sad when they cut away for stuff like Hot Rod TV, ARCA, and later "Consumer Product Showcase.":( :(
Anyway, it was a cool race to watch even if it was totally predictable.
Ferrari go boom=:( <- me.
Ben
Oh yea, I remember someone saying that Audi may not have a factory team next year. They might just sell cars to other teams. And please oh please let Porsche come back to prototype racing.

It isn't going to happen. Unfortunately, the sanctioning body doesn't want Porsche to come back as a contender. Over the past decade they've done just about everything to make sure the Porsches aren't competitive. I can't remember when it was but a few years back, Porsche was developing a prototype. The car was running about 10 seconds slower than the cars that were winning (I can't remember which car it was but it might have been the MB). Anyway, they decided to add a restrictor to the turbo and add weight to the car because they said the Porsche had an advantage because of reliability. Go figure.
I even remember when one of the privateers tried to bring a 962 back when they went to the open topped cars (early or mid 90's)and they added weight to that car.

Another strange footnote for this last lemans: Apparently the number 10 and number 22 cars were camera cars. Seems they were filming a movie during the whole race.
