This seems like a popular how to: sidemarker install.
There's a template in a pdf file.

That "Nibbler" is available at Radio Shack. It is a bit tough to get used to but can do some amazing work.

I'm going to be installing my jdm sidemarkers first week of april... how did you guys wire them up? Do they come on with the parking lights? Or only blink when the flashers, indicators are on?
Thanks,

I wired mine up to flash. Thats how they are wired up in Japan and the rest of the world.

So when you turn your blinker on either left or right, the coresponding sidemarker flashes with it right?
Have any pics of the install or ease of wiring it?
Thanks :-)

I just did this a few weeks ago on my '02 wagon.
Do not use a nibbler. That guy must have mangled his fender with that nibbler. Use a dremel. A tungsten carbide bit and a fine point bit for the corners.
The template that guy with the white STI uses looks OK for placement, but I used a different one for my wagon. I would search repeater install and use the template just to get the shape of the hole you need to cut for the oval light.
You will want to use a printer to scale it and make it work with the 06 template. Don't just cut the oval like that guy did or your ovals might end up not being level.
Splice the wiring with 18 gauge wire to the green and black wires on your front blinkers and run them through your fender to the oval light. You can get the quick connect (aka vampire clips) at autozone. 3M makes a really good one.
You can use a corner marker harness from an '02 - '03 if you don't have one to plug into the side oval repeater. You can also rig a homemade harness and seal it with silicone, but it is just a lot more work and mess. I know they match because I replaced my corner markers with reflector style markers that don't light. I re-used the harnesses for the ovals.
Take your time like you have never taken your time before in doing all of this. Take time scaling the template to fit both your car and the light and especially cutting the hole. Fit and re-fit until it is perfect. I cut one of mine a mm too wide and had to silicone seal it. It's kind of a good thing, since it protects against water/rust, but if I ever want to change the light bulb, I will have to take off the fender.
Oh, and don't spray too much primer on the edges of the metal or you will get a gap between the light and the fender.
Search side repeater install for more info.
I am going to do a proper write up and submit it to scooby mods when I get the time.
Good luck!!! This is a pretty cool mod that actually adds safety when changing lanes on the freeway.
Sorry, I don't have pics on my 'puter yet. But I will post them up.

If you mangle a fender while using a nibbler, then you probably do not know how to use a nibbler.
Rotary tools are iffy because you can do a lot more damage with them. If you slip, then you just tore a nice stripe down the paint. If you get them moving to fast, then you will burn the paint around the hole, and may discolor the paint past the point where the turn signal will cover it.

I would advise against using the vampire clips. You are going to have a lot of heat, road grime and everthing else in the engine bay. If you have the nerve to cut holes in your fenders, take the time and wire them right. Splice and solder the wires together, then cover with a weather-proof heat shrink.

Screwed up using a nibbler? I didnt think that was humanly possible.
I attempted the dremel method, but I found it was too risky (possible slipping and burning paint) so I went and got a nibbler. You have a million times more control with the nibbler. I HIGHLY recommend it.

Looks good EJ25! Thanks for the tip Burton :D I will be trying this VERY soon....oh, did you guys just splice into the stock turn signal wiring and solder onto the side lights, or buy the Bugeye harness to plug into the side lights?

great simple mod... adds a lot to the car.

here is my install from a wile ago
I decide to go with the orange to match the front turn signals. ( I had clear one to match my clear headlights on my bugeye, but wanted something different this time)
I started with a template that i found on here. I put masking tape on the fender and I traced out the outline of the template.

These are the tools I used to make the holes. I used a Drill with a step drill bit, a air grinder with a sanding bit, some hand nibblers, and a small file

Here it partially cut up. I used the drill bit to make a hole in the fender. Then I used the nibblers to cut out the hole to almost the exact size. Then I used the die grinder to finish cutting (gives a nice smooth finish) after all that, I used the small file to clean up the edges. Make sure you take your time when doing this, you dont want to mess up your nice fender :D

here is the finished hole. make sure you paint any raw metal spots with paint so your new car doesnt rust.

and what it looks like installed

Now, I moved on to the wiring harness. I wanted a nice OEM look, so I found some nice 14ga red/black wire some GM weather pack (water proof) connecters, and some male spade connectors for the back to the side repeater (I tried to find the right plug for the side repeaters, but had no luck).
Here are the wires with the weather pack connector soldered in place.

Then I went one step farther and wrapped the wiring harness with some braded wrap. I finished off both ends with some shrink tubing.

Here is a close up shot of the weather pack connector. I am sure you can get these at your local auto store, I happened to be rebuilding my FJ40 truck, and bought 50 or so of these units.

With the main harness finished, I needed to connect the other side to the car. I chose to hook up the wires to the back of the headlight to the turn signal wire. I stripped back a .5" of the wires jacketing and solders on the wires from the pigtail I made. Once solderd, I wrapped the bare wire in electrical tape. I then plugged in the new wiring harness.

I then fished the wire threw the fender. I peeled back the fender liner just enough to get my hand in there, and fished it all the way back to the side repeater light. I then plugged in the light and put it in the fender. Then I put the fender liner back in.

I used GM weather pack bits too.
got them from a parts hous in FL for cheap.
for wiring, I went this way:
http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/markerflash/markerflash.html
w/ lights off, they flash w/ turnsignalls
w/ lights ON, they come on & flash "off" as turnsignal comes on.
as far as a template, there is a sedan one on scoobymods
