i dont like the mesh (i would paint it black)
KingOfSiam 09-17-2005 10:39 PM

Hey is Seibon any good? I've heard mixed reviews.
yaggi 09-17-2005 10:59 PM

Are either of these for sale yet...the first one is nice looking...very WRC and probably alot cheaper than the burn-up version.
LathanM 09-17-2005 10:59 PM

Not bad. Now if they could come up with a version that didn't need hood pins.

Yeah, I got tired of the hood pins myself, so I sold my CF hood to a buddy.... Looked good, but pretty high maintence..... Not to mention unwanted "Ricer" attention..... If I ever bought another CF hood, I'd definately paint it...
jimbobrand 09-18-2005 12:03 AM

I never had to use hood pins with my seibon hood and it had been on the car for over a year and a half without any problems. Usually you use hood pins with hoods that don't use the factory latch.

do these hoods come with the holes for the latch pre drilled?
i use tein hood dampers... i wonder if it would be a pain to drill for the 2 mounting brackets?
sorry don't know much about CF parts.
other than they are teh strongest!
DayOfPain 09-18-2005 12:18 AM

i have the cwII on my car already, so yeah they are avail. and yes they come predrilled.
Jonnyfilmboy 09-18-2005 01:11 AM

I believe the hoodpins are recommended to be used with any CF hoods because of the more flexible nature of most CF hoods. At high speeds, they can flex and jump off of the stock latch and flip up in the wind. Most CF hoods are not a sandwitch of two sheets of CF with honeycomb inbetween. Too expensive for most people. So most CF hoods are just one sheet of CF which can flex more (compared to a honeycomb sandwitch). Hence, the hood pins will prevent that.

An interesting (and locking) alternative to hoodpins that I'm currently looking into:

Interesting. Only drawback is the hole you have to cut. But looks like it is more aerodymic/quieter.

What is with Seibon and that ghetto hood mesh/wire? Dear lord, it looks like they went down to Lowes and grabbed whatever they could find.

yeah i pulled mine out of the scoop in like the first 10 seconds it was on. the vents arent bad though.
needsboost2005 09-18-2005 01:24 PM

the second one looks good except for the vents
WRXEDIT87 09-18-2005 01:38 PM

Both of those hood look really good. Sort of makes me want to go out and buy one
Lethargic1 09-18-2005 11:37 PM

I think the first one looks a lot better than the second.
Phy6 09-19-2005 10:46 AM

I'm still hoping to get something like this....or make it a non CF DIY project.

Lethargic1 09-19-2005 11:06 AM

That looks pretty bad ass. I'd like to see a picture that's a little further away, but it looks pretty cool.
Master2192 09-19-2005 11:27 AM
