Rally Armor broke!!! part 1

WRBSTI12 01-13-2007 02:10 PM

Rally Armor broke!!!
I live in colorado and I have had these mudflaps for over a year. Yesterday I was walking behind my car and it looked really weird. I knew something was wrong but I didnt know what. I then realized that I had 1.5 mudflaps on the back. My drivers side rear mudflap broke in half. I dont know what cause this but it has been about 0 degrees here. I spoke to Rally Armor and they wont warrantee my mudflap. They said that due to harsh conditions they may break. What I dont understand is if I didnt live in harsh conditions why would I have mudlflaps. I am nto going to bash rally armor until I know what they will do but as of now they wont warrantee my mudflap. What should I do. Thanks.

We would suggest continuing to speak with Rally Armor.

As they have already answered you in a public forum: http://www.iwsti.com/forums/showthread.php?t=73689&highlight=rallyarmor

As a vendor, we deal with issues like this from time to time.
The best way to get satisfaction is to deal with the vendor/manufacture one on one and work to resolve the issue so that everyone can walk a way happy.

We have dealt with Rally Armor for a while and have not had any problems. We communicate clearly, directly with them and they in turn clearly and directly explain what they can do...

Just trying to help, as I know how frustrating it can be from both sides of the fence...

order them again
Big-E 01-13-2007 05:16 PM

Order them again except order the limited urethane mud guards.

Also, and unfortunately, I have seen factory and aftermarket products last a few months to lasting forever.

My brother in law also has the same 1/2 mud guard because it broke clean in half horizontally. Why? I don't know. But it can and does happen. I know, this doesn't help you in the least.

It's very possible that the material had a hidden fracture or fault in it and the mounting screws put the right amount of pressure in the right place and when you bottomed out, snap, and there it went.

I have been looking at these http://www.fastlineonline.com/products.html with a lifetime guarantee.

I haven't seen them up close, what do you guys think about these??

Prodrive Mudflaps FTW
aboothman 01-13-2007 11:53 PM

make your own FTW. You already paid for the pattern, so use it to make some out of some more flexable and durable that what the RAs are made out of. This is my plan.
02redwagone 01-13-2007 11:56 PM

Mine have done alright down to -25. They do get rather stiff though.

Being incased in wheel well ice probably helped too.
jay25RS 01-13-2007 11:58 PM

I have Rally Armor flaps myself. Recently a customers car that I worked on had these cool red flaps to match his red 2006 rex. They had stainless brackets to help hold them on that just kind of clamped the flap between the hardware and the wheel well. I inquired about them and he said that he would have prefered the rally armor but he didn't know about RA at the time he ordered them. He said they are like rally car flaps from Europe.

Ok.. I Know i'm rambling on but here is my point: His flaps were soft and pliable. Like silicone feeling.
nate.the.great 01-14-2007 02:48 AM

it sounds like they are willing to sell you an individual mudflap. i'm not sure what the problem is. fyi, parts don't last forever.
RexisMe 01-14-2007 08:59 AM

ya, order from jnjassociates, it only took them a month to send me 5 quarts of oil. lol.

I have these and they are really nice. Big, but a bit flexible so I think they are less prone to random snapping.
Maccgyver 01-14-2007 12:42 PM

I have abused my rally armor flaps alot, plenty of scrapes on the rear ones when backing up down inclines or go up them fast. Never had any problems. But then again it hasn't been that cold here.

Yes, Rally Armor does have new more flexible polyurethane flaps. The UR Limited Edition.

Um, that was over a year ago. Almost exactly a year ago. Are you celibrating the anniversary? ;)

We apologized then and apologize now, there was a lack of communication between us. It has not happened since. As we have grown, we have taken steps to make sure that what happened to you, will not happen again. We are sorry that you feel that the steps we have taken are not enough. But, that is all we can offer you.

What your post has to do with the subject at hand is anyone's guess. If you don't like us, no problem. Out of respect for the person who started this post, can we keep it on track?

I'd always thought RallyArmor's flaps were rubber.

+1

buy urethane sheets (the soft stuff rally cars use)

cut yourself

install

they'll last you forever, and they'll never "break in 1/2"

http://www.rallylights.com/Rally/mud_flap.asp

same stuff used on my rally car ;)

R|A UR limiteds are the very same material you speak of. no cutting\punching either (cant really drill urethane)

What is better than bolt and go?
JnJassociates 01-14-2007 04:21 PM

Guys and Gals, yes you can make your own flaps, if you have the tools and the inclination.

But why make them if you can buy a set with all the hardware included and ready to install?

Maybe you don't have the time, a place to work, tools, etc.

The new Rally Armor UR limited edition flaps are very nice. So nice we put a set on our own JnJ WRX wagon to replace the still presentable OG Rally Armor flaps! Plus they come thicker then the competition's flaps, offer a nice semi gloss look with stainless hardware.

We love dealing with Rally Armor, because they do listen to their customers! Hence the UR Limited Editon flaps.

We have taked a close look at what is out there. For a car that is driven daily or used for more spirited driving, there are no other products that we are aware of that come close in terms of fit, looks and durability at this price point.

lol, i didnt even think about that till just now. That was almost a year ago to right now exactly. I was just warning the OP in case he wanted to buy a set from you. It would be faster to get them from RA directly. Oh, and ya, the steps you took were awesome, you sucked it up a month after i ordered it and went ahead and ordered it from another company and had it sent to my house. Oh, and yes, since i haven't ordered anything from you, all my other transactions from stand up vendors have been amazing for the last year so i guess i will CELEBRATE, actually, the CELEBRATION will be postponed as there is a vendor that i will leave nameless for a couple more days that owes me 155 dollars that was supposed to be in my acct. in 3-5 business days which was like 8-9 business days ago.
Daishi00 01-14-2007 07:36 PM

Wow, what a way to continue to attack a vendor a year after your transaction in a non vendor review thread. You're the man.

Wrong again. Rally Armor and JnJ are both located in the same state, not very far from each other. We both have the items in question, in stock. It would most probably arrive at its destination at the same time. You may want to get your facts straight before you make untrue statements.

You obviously do not have any respect for the members of this group because you have highjacked this thread for some sort of warped vendetta about an order we screwed up and apologized repeatedly. Made right by your own account. Not to metion your contradiction of experiences with other vendors.

The issue between you and me is not only is a year old, but occured on a different board.

Please, take it to the vendor forum if you have a problem with me.

Just curious, any pics of where/possibly how it split in half? Maybe someone tried ripping/cutting a piece off or something?

I've used mine as curb feelers many times and haven't had any problems.
WRBSTI12 01-18-2007 07:37 PM

Well I got everything settled up with Rally Armor. They sold me one mudflap for the cost of 24.00 Shipped. I will say that I am happy that they did split up a set for me. I have had better experiences but much worse as well. All in all they handled it differentley then I expected but it worked out for both of us. The only really bad thing now is I am scared to go to the mountains and worry about my mudflaps breaking but oh well that is life. I just want everyone to know that Rally Armor did split up a set for me and I want to thank them for that.
