It was a hit and run and I don't wanna go through insurance. The OEM bumper is 240+paint. I found an aftermarket bumper for 180 from AutoRnD for 180, and it looks pretty nice..http://www.autornd.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=13911&osCsid=b0d802fa2b639dafd142c8795193ee7f

Does anyone know any other aftermarket bumpers for around OEM price? (240)? Chargespeed and APR are too expensive for me. Any help would be appreciated. I don't mind knockoffs or replicas.

that fake ings+1 bumper wont fit good at all.

Take the bumper off and push that dent out. It will pop out with only a few marks around where it creased. Really, no need for a new bumper; especially if it's coming out of your own pocket.

Damn that sucks......pop it out FTW!!

that corner is scratched to hell...i'm sure you don't mind driving around with claw marks all over your rear, but on a nicer car it should be replaced. i'd go with oem...cheap aftermarket bumpers fit like crap and are a mess.

They're plastic for a reason.

Too bad you can't pop scratches out. I want to find whoever scraped my bumper and :furious: their :furious: off.
Mechie3 01-05-2007 08:29 AM

You live in sunny CA...

I'd pop it out, put some light bondo on it, sand it, and get a can of touch up spray paint (forgot what site has it). It's at least worth a shot and, even if you get a replacement bumper...it's worth popping it out for the mean time so it at least looks a little better.

LOL I have the exact same dent in my bumper!

Is there anything special I need to do to take it off?
G3Red04WRX 01-05-2007 06:40 PM

WOW, im sure your glad he hit the bumper and not the rear wheel. The bumper is CHEAP compared to replacing one BBS rim...
SkylineR35GTRx 01-05-2007 09:29 PM

lol, thanks for the reply guys, I'll try to take it off and pop it out, is there any instructions online as to how to take off the rear bumper? I'll search around but if someone has it off the top of their hand, let me know. I'll start with scoobymods. Should I just just to do it with my hands or should I find a rubber mallet?

I found a small post, and that should help me get started. I'm going to give this a shot in a week or two, and i'll let you guys know how it turns out.

Read my post before you answer please. I said nothing about painting. I said pop the dent out and then leave it/paint it/sand it/ do what you please with it. I said he DOES NOT need a new bumper. The dent can be popped out and then painted if he wishes. And on another more ******* topic if you took a poll and asked which body style is nicer, I'm sure the GC style would win.
ColesSTi 01-07-2007 10:59 PM

I used a heat gun and fiber tech filler for plastic.
maxitout77 01-07-2007 11:09 PM

pop it out, fill in the scratches and sand, repaint.

ive done it with good results. cheap too :)
tw1zt1d 01-07-2007 11:21 PM

pop out, take to shop, shouldnt take more then a day to fix, i do work like that all the time.
SkylineR35GTRx 01-08-2007 01:18 AM

When you guys say pop it out, can I do it by hand or a mallet maybe or do I need professional dent popping tools? I was hoping I can push it out with my hand, but now I'm not sure if you guys mean like dent popper professionals.

Thanks, I'm gonna try that. I have a question about painting.

http://www.guidetodetailing.com/articles.php?articleId=27

I'm going to clean it with their instruction.
THen I'm going to put some bondo to fill it? Or Should I prime first then bondo?
After that I make sure I have it primed, then just spray paint/touch up paint it?
Clearcoat

Done!...?
shortys64 01-08-2007 01:53 AM

I was looking at the website which one do I order, the basecoat, clearcoat...etc?
SkylineR35GTRx 01-08-2007 01:59 AM

Yeah, I have question about that too, but I think if it's a scratch that did not go through your primer, you need just a basecoat, and clearcoat goes over your base coat for a shiny better look? The website suggested you don't really need a clearcoat unless you're anal or something.
maxitout77 01-08-2007 10:20 PM

its a platic bumper, it should just pop out with a little force from behind. no hammering or anything required, maybe just a little pry with a bar or pipe or something.

If you see bare metal or plastic, you want to also order primer, there is a specific one for metal or plastic. To make it look sexy, you want to order base coat AND clearcoat.
wrxdriver83 01-09-2007 01:07 AM

check www.body-kit.com they have some nice kits there.

Hey guys, it's summer and I'm finally going to take on this project. I popped this sucker out a few months back, I'll post some pictures and then after pictures of the paint I'm gonna do. Thanks again for the help.
