Do you put tire dressing on the inside walls of your tires?

Does anyone do this when they rotate the tires? Meaning, the sides that are always facing the inside of the car. I want to add, doing this not for show, but to maintain the tire. The Pirelli's I originally had on the car, had cracks on the inner side walls while the other side that was dressed, didn't have cracks.

I never really had any cracking problems with the inner sidewalls on any tires that I've had.

He's saying that as a maintainance measure, should he "mosturize" the inside tirewall. I would like to know if this makes much of a difference as well. Also, any tips for tire maintainance would be a nice add-in.

Usually the tread is gone before the tire "dries out" enough to crack.

A neighbor kid who suffers from WRX-envy was washing his Neon and putting on tire black. He came over and asked me why the tire black wouldn't stay on his tire. When I asked him what he meant he pointed to the tire and said that it won't stay on the tread. I'm not making this up. :lol:

Never see them anyway. And they get basically no UV exposure. And if your tread doesn't wear out before your sidewalls get cracks you drive like a sissy. ;)

I dont even dress the outside of my tires, let alone the inside. If you want to condition the tire find a rubber conditioner of some sort.

That sounds like way too much effort to dress up the inside of your tires. But if you think it will help then by all means do it. I think it wont make a difference, they dont even get sunlight...

I use the spray dressing in my wheel well...after I wash it, of course. Nothing worse than tire dressing and nasty wheel wells. If your tires are cracking, they must be old or cheap.

I think its kinda like wearing underwear...not too many people are gonna see your underwear...but it makes you feel good to be wearing some just in case...:cool:

tire dressing and armoral are both bad for your car (even though we all use them) I learned in my auto body class a few years back that they are both bad. I can explain.... just look at it like this, if you put tanning oil on your skin what is it doing? It makes the sun bake your skin, If you put oil on your dash or tires (armoral) and the sun hits it what is it doing? Its cooking your dash or tires. You may not see the effects for years but over time it really does destroy your dash and rubber... I guess it just depends on how long you want it to look good

The film on the inside of the windshield is just some of the protectant evaporating from the sun. The more protectant you use, the more film.

The current formulation of ArmorAll is no longer a silicone oil; it's a water-borne siloxane resin. Old (clear and greasy) ArmorAll was indeed bad for rubber and vinyl, but the current formula doesn't cause the evil side-effects of the old school stuff. If the product is a thin, milky-looking liquid, it's the newer (safe) formula . . . the clear, greasy stuff is old formula.

When I rotate my wheels, I always clean and wax the inside of the wheels and scrub/dress the inside of the tires.
