Headlight Restorer

My headlights where starting to get the yellow hazy look. So I took a fieldtrip to Kragen and picked up some ''Blue Magic Headlight Lens Restorer.
Review- It did the job really well. As I can tell. I will up date the pictures later as this tuff is supposed to prevent re-yellowing. It's simple to use but the directions say use a dry cloth to apply in a polish motion. But doesn't say what type of cloth microfiber etc.... So I used microfiber on one and terry cloth on the other. Both did the job neither one being better. Here are some before and afters.

haven't tried it yet, but apparently toothpaste and a soft cloth work just as well, if not better

Elaborate more on this toothpaste thing. I was going to try that now but it just started raining

Thanks. I put a total of 3 thin coats. This stuff is also supposed to prevent re-yellowing and fade. I will post updated picts in a couple of weeks. Hell couldn't beat it for only $4 bucks.

What if they are hazy/scratched, would this product help any? Or would my only option be the sandpaper/buffer route?

you guys realize its pretty much re-labeled plastic polish right?

Damn, very nice! I have never heard of Kragen. Is that a local parts store or something?
| eurospek | 03-21-2007 07:42 PM |
I used Meguiars PlastX with the same results, could not be happier.
I would stay away from Paint Cleaner, they tend to haze plastic like a mofo.

This weekend I tried some of the new Turtle Wax "Liquid Ice" liquid claybar. Was very skeptical at first, but boy does this stuff work nicey-nice on headlights! My bugeye's lights had definetely seen better days but this stuff cleaned them up real nice..oh and it worked fairly well on the paint too.

I just gave this Blue Magic a try. It worked well on the yellowing haze using microfiber and my own two hands.
My problem was more related to pitting due to those stupid gravel trucks that I can never get away from.:furious:
They do look better but I think I will have to try some wet sanding and maybe break out the power tools.

nightcrawler60:
about an update/long term review??
i've tried several diff products, and all they did were really just fill in the fine scratches; back to square one after a week or so. it's like throwing some wax on the lenses. looks really good right after you're done, but the wax wears off, and the scratches come back.
i'd really like to fine a product that cuts ever so slightly.

Forewarning anyone who intends on getting the 25 dollar kit from Advanced/AutoZone which is a few pieces of sandpaper and goop it is a complete ripoffs. Wasted an hour and half and my friends money lol.

I used 2000 grit wet sandpaper and some headlight polish that I got at a auto parts store (can't remember the name of it) and that worked great to remove the yellow fogging of my head lights. They look a look better. They don't look brand new but I'm sure I could get them that way with some more work and time. Probably any plastic polish will work.
