My quick custom gauge pod... tell me what you think
This took me about 3 hours total to do not including time to let the primer and paint dry. let me know what you think:

That looks great. Good job. You should get the paint that matches the
interior. Pm Subie Gal. She has the type and code for paint that is sold over
the counter at Auto Zone, Pep Boys, etc.
skate enjoi 02-14-2007 06:34 AM

that looks great! did you fiberglass it?
So-CaliWRX 02-14-2007 12:00 PM

i thin layer. sanded, primered and painted. i think i am going to look into that stock wrx paint. make it look more factory
JCall 02-14-2007 12:12 PM

wacerx 02-14-2007 02:11 PM

he doesnt have to worry about high temps during the summer in sc. beach is right here and we never break past 90 really. looks good but just a bit far from the line of sight for my taste.

schs grad? what year?
=LPR= 02-14-2007 04:06 PM

nice job. did you block off the vent behind it?
Leper Dog 02-14-2007 04:08 PM

Actually came out damn good, looks awesome!
jtanoyo1 02-15-2007 09:18 AM

I would have drilled circular holes around the surround so cool air still can blow through and to add some effect....but that's just me...
so rexy 02-15-2007 09:45 AM

Looks real nice! +1 for DIY!
I've always been intrigued by that vent setup but, unfortunately it's not at all practiacl for where I live because I need at least hot air for the winter months.
So-CaliWRX 02-15-2007 10:06 AM

I blocked the wiring behind it but the air redirects downward behind the vent for circulation. yes i graduated schs year 2004.
FJD915 02-15-2007 12:33 PM

looks clean
dlin 02-15-2007 02:33 PM

wacerx 02-16-2007 03:48 PM

haha wow 04. i was 03 but i cant say i have seen your car around. if i do i am going to have to check out this gauge pod.
kyleblix 02-16-2007 04:56 PM

nice, looks good
Donzo 02-16-2007 08:49 PM

Nice job! As said before I would have either drilled or cut holes around the guage to let hot/cold air come through. My friend just bought a vent pod for his boost guage on his Audi TT. It looks amazing! TT's have a chrome trim around the vents with some dimples in them. His was an exact match. Do they sell something similar for Imprezas?
sluflyer06 02-16-2007 08:58 PM

looks awesome, but very out of way location to actually use the gauge while driving.
WRXDriftR 02-16-2007 09:07 PM

id prefer something closer to eye-level
Hyphycaliber 02-16-2007 09:16 PM

looks pretty sick!
B00st3dWRX 02-17-2007 01:32 AM

pretty cool...check out mattjk's pretty similiar...good work
wrxburton 02-17-2007 01:16 PM

I had my bost gauge in the same spot for a while. summer was ok. the left side of my body did get hot during the summer though. a 60mm fits in the stock AC trim perfectly though. no need to make anything and its bigger so the #'s are easier to see form that distance
AstroScooby 02-17-2007 01:31 PM

looks good man but i couldnt do that in florida, i need as many vents as possible
So-CaliWRX 02-18-2007 12:16 PM

well where i live it doesnt get hotter then 85 durring summer and no colder then 55 during winter so the temp isnt to big of a deal. im ony 5'6 so its real easy to see for me. So the spot works out great for me. thanks for the compliments though guys!!
