G-Rally TEAM is looking for sponsors for the upcoming Ojibwe Forests Rally

We are not talking $200K sponsorship deals like some X-games rally contestants got for that event but a much smaller amount to cover the portion of the expenses. No amount too small. (Sorry no coins ;) )

2 cars entered.
02 open class STI and a freshly build 2004 WRX in a PGT class doing a National events.

PGT class has a great media coverage.

This event will be aired on ESPN, OLN and posibly on Speed.

This is a great way to get your name out there.

Advertising expenses can be deducted from your taxes up to 15%.

You can see our profiles on Subaru web page under Subaru Championship Cup
Drivers: Greg and Robert. Sorry about my helmet hair.

If you are interested or know someone that could be please call me at 773.704.2455 or contact me by email at [[emailprotected]][emailprotected]

Thanks

Greg

And where and how often are you willing to make personal appearances with the car to attract even more attention for the sponsors? i.e., if I own a pizza shop in Park Rapids and agree to sponsor you, will you bring the car over every weekend to help me attract customers?

Greg555 07-28-2006 02:00 PM

Pizza
I will move into the Pizza place if I get paid enough. But I got the feeling that this was a trick question.

You know that a small busineses don't care if you advertise for them in a state that they have no customers and that big companies have no interest in sunday racers.

Then tell me what should I do?
You as a competitor should know that this can be done on a per race basis. Drivers do a meeting with your customers on Thursday before the event and on Sunday.
People would know this is a car that is sponsored by a local Pizza place or whatever this company might be.

Why sponsorship is so difficult in this country? You go to small countries that dont do all that good and you will find WRC cars competing. We have huge busineses and everyone is affraid you do anything even thou it doesnt cost them anything.

Hey Richard - are you still competing?

Yes Greg, it is a trick question. But you answered it correctly. The real question is what are you going to do for the sponsor. Park Rapids, if you don't remember, is a small town that the OFPR transits through. The pizza palor there might actually go a thousand for you to show up. But you would have had to have sent them the proposal last year and then been willing to spend some of the money on an ad in the local paper. Heck, we have trouble getting $200 in trade out of the local pizza place in Paris TX. We have to do a lot of advertising for them it seems. Likewise with the other sponsors for the event. But by repetition, we are making headway.

As for my personal sponsors, it is mainly friends in the car business that give me good rates in lieu of actual cash money. That and work on the car.

For sponsors in the Chicago area, you can promise them a number of local car shows that you will appear in. For lagniappe, you will also display their advertising on the car at rallies. Show them the number of people and the demographics of the people who go to the car shows. The rallies won't really count for a local advertiser.

Why is sponsorship so difficult here? Well, chalk it up to the American public. Even on this web site, I have trouble attracting help for Rallye de Paris. People say they are all ready to go to a rally and then decide it is too far to Paris, or too hot or too cold. In other words, lack of real interest. Well that and sex sells much better. :)

Yep, we are still competing. We may or may not make Ojibwe. We are building a Mustang and it doesn't look like it will be ready. And Juanita doesn't want to take the old Saab even though it is ready to go.

So put Rallye de Paris on your schedule for this Thanksgiving. It is only 800 miles or so from Chicago. Leave after dinner Thursday, arrive Friday for tech, rally Saturday and get some easy points. The home on Sunday without having to take a day off of work.

Bump.

Also, I will sponsor you with beer.

I'm bringing a few cases of Premium Grain Belt for all the polish people.

Also check your email, I need a driver.

Yeah.. I was also wondering where this information was coming from. Smells like bs to me..

Doug Havir on the RA forums:
Options have been presented to allow us to put all of this year's events on TV. They're not exactly the types of options we were hoping for. Funding for this year's TV program is nonexistant, although discussions for 2007 are underway on a fairly positive note. So that leaves us with a business decision to make.
There was very little media presence at MFR, and according to Doug there won't be much at the remaining events unless someone cuts them a check.

If I'm wrong, please correct me, but so far it doesn't look good for RA being on TV at all until next season.
Protege Menace 08-14-2006 03:56 PM

you guys TRYING scare off every single possible sponsor?
Greg555 08-14-2006 04:13 PM

I am looking at all this and thinking to myself "THANKS GUYS"
RichardM 08-14-2006 06:21 PM

Who knows what the incidental coverage will be with Travis and Kenny there following the X Games.
greg donovan 08-14-2006 07:45 PM
you guys TRYING scare off every single possible sponsor?
i think they are just trying to keep things from being misrepresented.

when the guy in charge of the whole RA series says there will be no TV show someone probably shouldnt be promising potential sponsors TV time.
AlexP 08-14-2006 09:50 PM

Yeah, by all means I wish everyone could get full sponsorship (if that were the case, I'd quit my job and be a full time rally mechanic). But it's not very honest to promise media exposure that has only a 5% chance of actually happening....
Greg555 08-15-2006 08:53 AM

Sorry, I am not to exact status of the coverage. I go to work from 7-4 and from 4.30 - 11 at night I am in the garage working on the rally car. Sat and Sun are fun too. Usually 10am-8pm. Last time I checked there was a media package in place. Maybe I was wrong but it doesnt really matter. Nobody is interested in sponsoring a car. Not a single company, person. Just people that have nothing nice to say...
greg donovan 08-15-2006 09:03 AM
Just people that have nothing nice to say...
i dont see anything like that.

we just dont want to see you misrepresent anything and really turn off a sponsor.

in all fairness doug did say no TV after you made the first post.
JC_595 08-15-2006 12:34 PM

Please dont take this the wrong way Greg as it is meant to be helpful-

posting an ad looking for sponsors here on this forum isnt exactly the best way to find support. I am actually surprised you didnt catch more crap than the tiny bit you did. There are lots of us who frequent this forum who bust our butts looking for sponsors and making them happy once we have them. Those of us who are involved in rally are very protective of sponsors because of how tenuous relationships with sponsors can be due to the present state of rally over the past few years.

You have rallied before, I would've expected you to be familiar with this.
Greg555 08-15-2006 12:44 PM

I never seen anyone ever trying anything on NASIOC other that PAts deal with the NASIOC themselves. I thought I'd give it a try.

BTW. I love the way every thread somehow always turns into a bs.

:) No worries. You didn't think I thought seriously about finding someone here or anywhere else for that matter.
Greg
JC_595 08-15-2006 03:33 PM

Good luck to you & the Borowicz Bros too at OFPR. Keep it on all 4.
JC
Greg555 08-15-2006 03:44 PM

That if I finish the car.

BTW. what is that "New chassisbeing built" by your profile. What r u up to now???

As you may know I sold the 04 PGT WRX to Tom Young late last year to regroup my finances. I am now building a 1995 2dr Impreza L that has a 1999 2.5 RS swap in it. I have pics, but my website is not letting my update it (sumptin about frontpage server extentions, blah blah blah)...

All I have to find now is a suspension cheap. The FIA cage is almost done. The goal is to be stage ready for $7000 (including car) or so & still be able to be almost as fast as the 04 was yet not have to mess with a turbo or restrictor. We'll see. I am confident at Sno*Drift we will be about as fast as we were, but on gravel I dunno. I mean, I wont care about balling this one up, but we will be down on power. But the torque is better & less weight...

mike wray was pretty pleased w/his KYB AGX struts w/ground control coil over kit on his 94 PGT legacy SS.

i think they are fine for the midwest roads. wouldnt want to run STPR or RIM w/them but they are great around here.

i think they would be around 600 for a full set. you could have 4 full sets for the price of one set DMS 50s.

I am donating75 bottles of

to the Drozd/Borowicz rally teams and crew.

Should be a fun time. OTers can get in on a few beers if you see me (tallest guy there).
fliz 08-19-2006 10:23 PM

Free Beer?

The step2racing team will DEFINITELY find you!!!

I didn't even have time to look for sponsers for OFR. I'm hoping to get a flyer together to mail out to some Houghton businesses, as local sponsors are all that would ever be interested in my little white turd.
Protege Menace 08-19-2006 10:34 PM

Rally friends get beer as well ;)
