Glass Cleaning

What do you guys use for cleaning your windshield? I tried using some windex the other day and it looked alright but when the sun was really shining I could see a bunch of swirls and crap. Just wondering if you guys have an ace up your sleeves.

Stoner Invisible Glass and some old newspaper. No streaks, no smears, the stuff is GREAT.

I am afraid to use newspaper. Doesn't the ink run and get all over your car?

+1 for Stoners and newspaper. No the ink won't run unless you use a really crappy newspaper.

Stoners and a microfiber cloth.
| Ahersh | 06-26-2005 08:14 PM |
I just did mine today with Stoners and newspaper. It does work great. Because the paper is so dry and does not have any residue in it (which a rag might hold), it sucks the cleaner right off the glass.
I think any decent cleaner with newspaper will do a good job. As for the type of newspaper, use the standard local paper, not the laminated, shiny stuff.

Sprayaway in an aerosol can works great. You can also use it on your tint inside. Costco has it in a 3 can pack for 6 bucks.
| GFimpreza | 06-27-2005 01:27 AM |
I second Sprayway...people I know in the windshield/glass business swear by it.
| Burncycle | 06-27-2005 01:49 AM |
For the Sprayaway would you still recommend newspaper as the cloth?

That's all I ever use. Great stuff. However, their tire shine stuff, is not.

One more vote for Stoners and newspaper. Make sure you wading the newspaper into a loose ball.
| drivin blind | 06-27-2005 01:05 PM |
Ah, don't use the newspaper on your tint. It will scratch the dickens out of the aftermarket stuff.

another vote for Stoners!

then you're using too little newspaper and too much cleaner. you don't need that much cleaner.
I prefer microfiber and stoners, or just plain microfober.
16pk of microfober for ~$10 at costco... =)

Stoners also! Spray a bit on and wipe off with a microfiber...

if you really want to get ur windsheild clean, a claybar will do the trick - gets out everything but the chips. As for the inside, Stoners all the way

meguiars nxt glass cleaner or stoners. Two best, imo. :)

Don't overspray the Stoners, a little goes a long way. Conversely, a little newspaper does not go a very long way (especially if you have too much of the wet stuff on there). Crumple it up into a ball, and turn frequently. I try to avoid newspaper with colour dyes, mostly just because someone once told me to, but the few times I've used I've never notice any major difference. Once I'm done with the glass, I use the wet newspaper to clean the wipers, which also works well, and hey, multifunction is good.
For interior (because I have tints), I just use a Don Aslett microfiber polishing cloth with no spray of any kind. Works like a champ, even if you've got coke sprayed over the interior glass (stupid passengers), although it take a little more muscle than a cloth + spray. They are super absorbant (I use them to dry my car after a wash, and it only take a few of the squares to do it) and multifunctional. The polishing cloths are different than the terry or microfiber cleaning cloths, and better. They cost a few bucks more (about $18 for a five pack), but they're worth it.
