chargespeed vortex generator
Just nosing around Chargespeed's site... looks like they sell a Impreza version now

still think it looks more perfect with the antenna built in like on the evo MR/FQ's but I like it :)

Golfa 06-30-2005 08:23 PM

good find! It's about time we got one, other than the L'aunsport one that is impossible to get and is eleventy billion yen

I wonder which vendors will jump on this, hope the prices are reasonable
itjustWoRX 06-30-2005 08:33 PM

whoa...that's really nice.

I really hope the vendors DO jump on that one...I WANT ONE! :p
WRXSIG 06-30-2005 08:36 PM

prolly about $200 at least :(
clsmooth71 06-30-2005 09:16 PM

sorry, but those things are ugly as hell!
ittybitty_STI 06-30-2005 10:32 PM

Those are hot! how would that look with the rear window visor? how would you go about to purchace one of those?? and those carbon brake duct?
Whiplash 06-30-2005 10:55 PM

I dont know why.. but I really like that.
Hefe_sti_Pma 06-30-2005 11:06 PM

CVR Motorsports 06-30-2005 11:20 PM

DeeBoy 06-30-2005 11:21 PM

oh shizzy!! i want it!! That and a Syms Carbon wing would look so sweet together! Someone Tell JDMaddict to get it!! XD
silverF4turbo 07-01-2005 12:54 AM

The more I think about it the more I'm starting to want it :D
Scott Farmer 07-01-2005 01:28 AM

Yeah, but how fast do you have to be going to activate any significant amount of downforce with one of those?
Handsdown 07-01-2005 01:37 AM
Yeah, but how fast do you have to be going to activate any significant amount of downforce with one of those?
significant downforce?

i'd say about eleventy billion.

IIRC it's not there to create downforce, it's there to direct air unidirectionally over the wing, much like the SWRT wing's dividers.

if you don't see it on the rally car, chances are it's not very functional.

sure does look tight though.
ilivas 07-01-2005 01:41 AM

I'd prefer it in black like the evo's.
leoflc 07-01-2005 01:42 AM

nice
but 39900 yen is like $US 360 right now...
shogun90 07-01-2005 09:23 AM

 Been waiting for one. Liked it on my cousin's EVO MR. Would like it on my WRX.
fireball_jones 07-01-2005 11:04 AM

Looks cool, and in WRB it really would be the sonic the hedgehog look... but how is it mounted up there?
kenlee 07-01-2005 11:22 AM
Those are hot! how would that look with the rear window visor? how would you go about to purchace one of those?? and those carbon brake duct?
I too like those brake ducts. They would go well with the arc windmaster panels.

+1

If only they made the lip for an 02, though...
smooth_ej20 07-02-2005 11:11 PM

zerosports make brake ducts like that. Seen them in person and they are sweet. Have to find a vendor that doesnt charge a first born son to get it,
fantabulous 07-02-2005 11:21 PM

sweet find, and its carbon fiber.

umm... carbon fiber.
Thumper23 07-03-2005 02:34 AM
Yeah, but how fast do you have to be going to activate any significant amount of downforce with one of those?
it by itself creates ZERO downforce

what it does is it energizes the boundary layer airflow so that the smooth laminar flow "sticks" to the rear window instead of the air seperating (like when it rains and you see water floating around in the middle of the rear window, the flow has seperated) so that the wing gets a better flow making the wing more efficient

there's my aero geek explination
Uncle Ben 07-03-2005 03:37 AM

Any pic of the Zerosport duct?
WRX Ver.7 07-26-2005 09:41 PM

I really like that piece. It would be a c/f addition to a car with carbon hood, trunk, and Prodrive wing. I agree with ittybitty-STi about the addition of that with a rear window visor/roof spoiler.
Golfa 07-27-2005 11:54 AM

we need a/some vendor(s) to get on this! We need a group buy ASAP!!
distorto 07-27-2005 12:21 PM

how does it attach?
Calamity Jesus 07-27-2005 02:01 PM

I could almost guarantee to you that it's fastened on with 3M double-sided tape.
Phy6 07-27-2005 04:56 PM

I wonder if this would interfere with a roof vent...

ittybitty_STI 07-27-2005 05:39 PM
prolly about $200 at least :(
Actually I asked them and sent them a email and they dont have a set price but they gave me a price of 380.00

Nope, it is located on the back of the roof like the EVO MR.
moss 07-27-2005 06:00 PM

Wow... now I'm really starting to want an STi :(
jmanrex 07-27-2005 06:09 PM

we definately need to get some vendor to at least stock these if they don't do a group buy--i mentioned it to z-1 on his group buy but everyone wanted a rear diffuser instead
ADR 04STi 07-27-2005 06:16 PM

Beaverboy : You mean "JDM" 3M tape  . I cant see any other way to mount it.
shemoves 07-27-2005 06:27 PM

works out to a bit over $350...how functional is it on vehicles without wings?
stiraspecc 07-27-2005 06:48 PM

im diggin the vortex generators
Rex87 07-27-2005 11:49 PM

Yea I was curious if it would have any significant effect on a WRX with just the OEM spoiler??
1 Lucky Texan 07-28-2005 12:28 AM

where does it go on the wagon?

;^)

Carl
ADR 04STi 07-28-2005 12:37 AM

They also called them sharks teeth on the MR. The EVO's look larger and is set back on the rear glass. This one mounts more on the roof. Wonder if that effects anything and was this actually wind tunnel tested? Will it perform as well on the WRX's spoiler?

tw1zt1d 07-28-2005 01:56 AM

those are sexy definitely would want one, im down for a group buy
the_colombian 07-28-2005 02:09 AM

oooh, I like. I wonder when they start selling on ebay?
hopefully they wont go for more than 100 or 150.
bomex180 07-28-2005 02:18 AM
yeah those are nice...i'll take the lip and the duct$....mmmmm
LOL PM me if you want that. ;)
Lexington 07-28-2005 05:02 AM

I'm sure you can make that lip fit the '04...
leeden 07-28-2005 12:00 PM

I like but I'm hesitant about sticking it with tape. Just how strong is the adhesive?
distorto 07-29-2005 12:49 PM

i used the tape that came with my apr spoiler and i ended up riveting the spoiler on..the tape didn't stay on for long.
Alizarin 07-29-2005 11:21 PM
those are sexy definitely would want one, im down for a group buy
I'd hit it. :D

...as long as it is functional.

dam.. it looks aggressive as hell with the generators..
offset 07-30-2005 09:25 AM

I don't think I care for the gens on the STi. Although I am starting to think the top spoiler on the 06 model might look alright.

offset
lugee 07-31-2005 04:06 PM

thats hot.
STi-MAN 07-31-2005 05:18 PM

how come no vendors have jumped on these yet?
John2.5RS 07-31-2005 06:42 PM

cool
I was thinking of getting the mitsu one and trimming it down to fit but maybe I can get this one and trim it down! why is all the cool stuff coming out now, sure wish there was all this aftermarket enthusiasm when the GC's were being made. afterall, they only had the GC body for like 8 years.
VSGTS14 08-07-2005 12:24 AM

ttt
CVR i am interested in getting one of these, you should supply them!
MattDell 08-07-2005 12:27 AM
I dont know why.. but I really like that.
Same here.
b00st3d 08-24-2005 05:52 PM

any updates?!
CreoWRX 08-24-2005 06:13 PM
I like but I'm hesitant about sticking it with tape. Just how strong is the adhesive?
If you use 3M Automotive Tape and prepare the surfaces correctly, it should hold just fine. The rear lip spoiler on the trunk of the BMW M3 (E46) is held on with double-sided tape.

-Mike-
jmanrex 08-24-2005 07:34 PM

i know there was a thread about someone selling these on ebay for $200 but the location was fishy -- i am not going to be the ginea pig on that

and they are held on by 3m tape -- if the piece comes off you did something wrong because that tape is good and strong in all weather conditions
