| leecea | 09-01-2004 07:05 PM |
http://www.easystreetmotorsports.com/ has some details. You get the entry form from Suby Dealers.

I couldn't tell, would this be a full-time job or could the driver keep her day job?

At least they can blame it on sucking at launching and not being able to shift, neither of which you need to do well in the esx car.

I picked up my application yesterday evening. FYI, if your Subaru dealer doesn't know anything about it (as was the case with mine), they should check subaru.net (apparently a Subaru dealer-only website). There was a blurb on there about it, including a printable application.

apparently i cannot apply as i work for an independent subaru dealership.

You know... I will apply for this. But.... I have a feeling that the whole point behind this is to find themselves a supermodel... which I am not. Why else would "no experience" be necessary?

Hopefully that is not the case.. I suppose we shall see.

I HAVE to tell you all the funniest thing. I went to the Formula D thing a few weeks ago and there was a booth that said "Race Girl Lounge" with a bunch of little twiglet models wearing close to nothing. So I walked up to two of the girls standing there and asked, So what do you guys race? They just gave me a very puzzled look , so I continued, Do you rally, or street race, or drift, or what? And then they were like ooohh no we dont race. So I gave them a confused look  and said, Oh. What is race girl then? I though it might be a club for girls that actually race. Their reply was something to the tune of, No, were just dumb model sluts that have no other talent than to strip and sit on cars. Uh, thats not an exact quote, but you get the gist. :D My friend and I just walked away busting up laughing. I know it was a bit childish, but I couldnt help myself. It really was funny... maybe you just had to be there.
But.... I have a feeling that the whole point behind this is to find themselves a supermodel
Yeah, I think there might be an aspect of that. One of the things that the application asks to be included is a "current, photo driver's license". I told Phil I should go look to see how hideous my current driver's license photo is. :D  Actually, when I got this latest license, I asked "Can I just keep my old photo?? It's actually a really good picture of me!!" But alas, the answer was no. :( Anyway...
On the other hand, other questions on the application are things like "How do you feel about Subaru?" and "What kind of car do you currently own?" I would hope that we NASIOC women would gain the upper-hand with questions like that. :)
They also ask for a race resume, so they may be looking for female racers in general, and don't want to discourage non-drag racers from applying.
But yet, I still can't shake this nagging feeling that all us NASIOC racers/motorsports enthusiasts are going to get beat out by a random ultra-thin, ultra-beautiful model who doesn't even know how to pronounce Subaru, doesn't have a clue how to drive a stick shift, and whose biggest concern is that a helmet might mess up her hair...
But I'll still apply anyway. Hey, it can't hurt, and I can hope, right??

Actually I think they want someone of Lisa Kubo esq caliber considering if Ali was after eyecandy he could use his Girlfriend or many others people at the shop know. Lisa isn't exactly beautiful but she gets alot of respect for what she does for drag racing.
This is a serious event and they want someone who isn't like Bris said a model who knows nothing about cars. They also want them to be a serious enthusiast twords cars/subaru's in general. Someone who isn't just a figure head out there to smash the go pedal when the light turns green and that's it. This is a rare opprotunity for an unknown to get a break in this business which is very tough without dedicating alot of time, money and effort of their own. Heck you get to travel and race for a full year and who knows maybe break some records while your at it.
I hope that they find someone who can go out there and breakground again for Subaru and women drag racing.

I am so up for the challenge! After trying to get sponsors for 4 years to go rally, I know how hard it is. I can get small sponsorships here and there, but the big stuff is hard! Im developing a proposal right now and it is hard to figure out what a big sponsor is looking for and what I need to say. Good luck to all Subaru women on here! Does anyone know when they are going to be selecting the finalists?

We've already started packing the car! The Azenis are now sitting in the trunk (and one behind the front passenger seat). We'll be driving out on the RE-92s. Tonight, I'll be packing suitcases and packing them and all the rest of the gear into the car. That way, as soon as we get home from work tomorrow, we can hop in the car and GO. :) We should be able to be there in time for practice starts on Friday. Sheesh, I'm shaking just thinking about it. Its really going to suck only getting 500K satellite internet for the 18 hrs on the road, I mean I'm so used to 1.5MB at home. I've also heard that the Direct TV dish sometimes gets some snow on the 36" flatscreen when we are going through tunnels. Last but not least, he doesn't have a full size fridge in the POS, so we will have to stop halfway and get more beer

is your license a good pic? do you drag?
| musee13 | 09-17-2004 01:35 PM |
I think it is, but not my best picture. Yes, I have been drag racing for a while now, almost 7 years. So far only a little over a year with the Subaru but before that I raced my Honda. I try to go to the dragstrip every chance I get.
I think I have the same passion for drag racing that you have for rally. I love that stuff too but I am better at going in a straight line. ;)

Thats cool. I wonder what they're looking for.... ??? Are you modelish? Or are you average?
| musee13 | 09-17-2004 02:22 PM |
There is no telling what they are looking for. Hopefully it all boils down to where the girls heart is and as long as it is with racing then that would be awesome.
As far as modelish, I don't think so. On a scale of 1-10 and 5 being average and 10 being model then I am an 8. I think that is a safe guess, I am not really good at that kind of stuff. What about you?

Haha! I have no comment on my appearance beside I'm definitely not a model! My heart is definitely in racing though! How long did you make your answers to the questions?
