Pure white light for rear license plate? part 4

haji 01-17-2009 03:47 PM

I used a 10" waterproof string of LEDs tucked up under the bumper.
Before, I had a 12v neon power supply, but it blew up cuz of moisture?
The neon was really white, but the LED string is stupid bright.
The pic doesn't really do the brightness justice.

It's kinda krooked, but who am I gonna drive over?
Nope, you will not have a problem with that. I just don't know if it will melt if you have HIDs. I have mine almost 10,000 miles and still didn't burn out.
Aesome, thats what I wanted to hear :D

P.S haji that LED string looks wicked, but why is it bent tho? :D

It's a flexible string of LEDs. I couldn't really see under there when I was mounting it. I just used zipties to hold it on. Can't see it unless I've accidently run over you, and stopped so that you could see up under there.

do you have a dyi on this install....

I have a s2000 that is my race car and the HID in the S do project much farther and appear to have a higher lumans then the ones in my 09 sti daily driver.

Mine are still running great as well.
azer408 12-28-2010 02:26 PM

are you guys by any chance using the super bright 5 with the 4 radially mounted and 1 in the center or the straight 6 leds? I know this is a bump from the dead but I'm thinking about changing out my current LED's. And finding a red LED for dome/map lights. If I should just buy the kit from yourledsource or superbrightled as far as their rivalry in brightness. But superbrightled seems to be a cheaper alternative for what I'm looking for.

I've bought the ebay stuff and they work, but they just don't cut it.
