04 Side Splitter Install part 3

twizhimself 07-09-2009 11:35 AM

i put 3m tape between the bolt holes for added support...after i tore one of them off on a concrete parking lot stopper thing

back from the dead. so i just picked up a set of splitters for 40$ used off a member in i-club. I don't have the hardware and was reading between cutting and taping. What would others recommend. I'm leaning towards 3m tape but after that parking stopper post I'm a lil bit unsure on which method to use.

can you re use the snap clips from your stock bumper or do you have to purchase new ones?

Anyone know the part number for the upper bracket (front right) that mounts inside the bumper and secure the to the upper most tabs on the splitter?
Future145 04-29-2010 05:02 PM

I just installed them myself yesterday. the method i used was cutting the 3 slits in the bumper.

Is there any part number on these splitters and the hardware kit? Are they an accessory or are they a stock STI part?
Loki2x 05-09-2010 09:25 AM

Yes, They are stock on the STis. You can buy them as a kit here,

side splitter
When you bought them did they come painted or did you paint them yourself? and if painted where did you buy them?
NW OBS 01-16-2011 01:56 PM

Did you look at the post above yours? Any dealer and you can buy them painted factory colors or buy them used on the boards!

is your wrx lowered? if so how much front and rear? it looks nice.
mxer254 04-09-2011 08:14 PM

ok so i've read this whole write up and i'm still really confused about something. do you just put the new splitter over the current bumper? or do you cut out the bumper (on the red line pictured below) and replace it?

if you just put the new splitter over the current bumper, wouldn't it look weird cuz it would be sticking out, and wouldn't be flush with the bumper?
rocky_66 04-10-2011 05:48 AM

It goes over the existing bumper. No, it doesn't look weird. Look at any picture of an 04 05 STI.

Or the WRX 2 posts up.

kuttin' kornerz 10-03-2011 06:26 PM
