^ Thats 10x better than year 1 of the usgp at Indy.
| Streetman | 03-31-2004 05:25 PM |
I agree. 50 and rain makes for a long day at the race. This year should be the best yet.

Wait renew tickets for '05?
Did Indy get an extension for holding the USGP's after '04?
I thought this was our last year under the last deal.

Bernie and Tony are good buds. Tony has most of the money in the world, and Bernie's got the rest. Also, if you know anything about Tony's ego, you know he won't let it go away. It's still the largest (or was it second last year?) venue on the F1 schedule.
| WRSport | 04-01-2004 02:08 PM |
Yeah I'm aware of all that BUT:
Is the '05 contract signed? Last I heard is no.

I already have 5 tickets...Corner 6 terrace -row P...from another source. 1/2price ;) no I can't get anymore :p but anyway....
Me and the boys from Axis Power Racing are going (ron/mike/john/etc..)
What can we do to get corral pass/parking passes? Do I just call indy and request them via subaru car club?

Yep.
Read the website. Call up, and tell em you're with the Subaru Club, and they'll hook you up. They say 1 pass per 2 tickets, but I can get more if you're in more than two vehicles. Glad to have you on board.
Read the rest of the site. I know it looks like hell, but the info is there. We're doing all sorts of things that weekend. The Noodle is not to be missed. As well, karting on Saturday will be incredible. You've got 5 people? I can accomidate a team of 5. I bet you are all still sore the next day. It's really that demanding.

I'll see what I can turn up as far as hotels. The Extended stay americas are always a good deal, even when they jack the rates.
| StuBeck | 04-08-2004 10:59 PM |
How much are prices for hotels? Showers would be a nice thing this year, although I don't think I'll be paying the extra 50 bucks for the seats in the infield.
| mr2guru | 04-09-2004 07:23 PM |
well all but the most expensive (>$600) are sold out that are close <10mi I got a super8 ~15mi away for $159 a night. Their reg rate is $56 a night.

Wow...thanks for the info but I'll have to pass...3 of us being college students mean we'll just get some huge tent and live in there for the weekend.

camping is a very good alternative to insane lodging prices.
I have been staying at a campground due west of the Brickyard located right accross from Indianpolis Raceway Park (IRP). They have more than enough room with showers etc. iirc it's $24 a night. Travel time to the track is less than 10 minutes.
In the passed everyone at this campground were all F1 attendees. Don't know how the june date will be tho. One other cool thing about the Sep date was you could listen to the midgets on Friday night and arca on Sat night screaming around the track just accross the road. Noice background music for the motorsports enthusiasts.

Sorry I wont be a part of this deal guys, my suby will not be there becuase I am driving in a mini van full of paintings from Texas. I would like to plug myself and get all of you to come buy and see my paintings. Ill will have a show all weekend at the Hyatt in downtown, the Omni North and Embassy Suites. I will also be at the GP Tours events on Friday and Saturday nights. I will try to make it to the corral and say hello to all you guys that I have been reading about. Check out my website for more information closer to the race. www.KevinPaigeArt.com Hope to see you all there.:D

Nice artwork, man. I'm sure you'll do well in Indy with USGP crowd. There's also the Indy Jazz Fest all weekend which brings out those who love the arts. Three stages, Fri, Sat, sun, all day. You should do well.
If you bring the mini van out to the track, you can still get a free parking pass, but you have to park in the infield. Still, better than spending $25 to park and walk forever.
Did I mention Hertz rents Subarus? If you guys are renting, go there for a Subaru. If you don't care what your rental is, go to Enterprise. They're the cheapest.

Think of how my beat up Brighton will look! Hehe. Hey, at least I know Subarus go OFF road. Perhaps I'll get it nice and muddy for race day.
I think we'll have seats left over. So far, only 4 have been taken. That's somewhat expected, as people wait til the last minute anyway, these are new seats, and this year the date has been moved up. Buy em up though, as I'm going to release some if we don't take them. I think they'll be the sweetest seats on the track.

Again, details as soon as I have them. With some luck, we'll be racing a two hour endurance the night before the USGP.

I got my tickets from a source outside IMS.
Is there a way to get a corral pass?
I emailed Beth and she asked me for my customer number from purchasing the tickets and I explained that they didn't come directly from IMS. She never replied back to me.
If anybody has an extra pass, please help me out.
I was in the corral last year and it was very cool. Gotta get back in this year.

I'll shoot her an email as well. I know they're really protective of people buying from scalpers. However, I'd imagine you didn't pay anything more than face for these. As well, even a ticket purchased from a scalper is a ticket IMS originally sold. FURTHERMORE, the scalpers actually help IMS, being that they eat a large number of tickets each year. Just watch for them on raceday; a handful of tickets, with no takers, as the race isn't sold out. So why does IMS care?
I'm getting a little bent, and will stop. This is just the type of nonsense I tried to avoid this year. I'll see if I can oil this, and get the machine running smooth again.
SAW-Shoot me an email with your real name, or email address so I can tell Beth to get in touch with you. BTW, what kinda name is SAW?
Everyone else, if you can avoid buying your tickets from anywhere but IMS, try to do so. If you buy from friends or others who just couldn't make the race, see if you can get their customer number. We still have seats in the newest section, which I really think are going to be the best seats in the house.

Sent you an email Streetman.
Thanks for anything you can do for me.
Another thing about scalpers....Its legal in Indiana (as far as I could tell)
Here in PA, the cops or security will detain you and confiscate tickets if you try to sell.

Yeah, it's legal. It's supposed to just be on the day of the event, but there is no enforcement of any kind. Ticket brokers a plenty around here. Agian, it's free enterprise, and they help the events. Heck, it's a little free advertising for the event every time they promote their tickets.
Again, I'm done whinning about this...until next time.
You've got email, so does Beth, and hopefully this sets the stage for everyone else's requests to get processed a little more smoothly.

Got our tickets and corral pass, myself and 4 of my good friends.

How are you fitting 4 in a Subaru? That's can't be comfortable for long.

I'll tell you 3 people and luggage in a WRX for 11 hours is NOT comfortable!
Its do-able, but nobody has room to stretch out!
But its all worth it when you hear the 16000rpm whine of the V10s.

Well, one of them so happens to live in Indy. That = free room and board.
me + 3 in a WRX is no problem.
