Big thanks to the Atlanta Region for a running a top notch event. I had so much fun this past weekend! I can't wait to go back and do it all over again in a few days.

Everybody that drove Joel's STI looked FAST. Well, they WERE fast.

Nice seeing everyone again.

Corey #89 STS
DrBiggly 04-11-2005 01:30 PM

You weren't too slow yourself Corey. I was working in the smack middle of the course when you were running and your lines and consistency looked good. Nice to meet you finally. :)
Corey 04-11-2005 01:34 PM

Gee, thanks! I wish I could have seen more of STX, but we got out of there ASAP yesterday. 12 hr. drive and I made it in to work today...

Anybody happen to pick up my trophy?

Corey #89 STS
AUTOwrXER 04-11-2005 01:59 PM
Question... how good are the BSP drivers at that event? ESP beat BSP by a comfortable margin. Weather? I can hear the grumbling all the way up here.
Ben's car is not fully prepped for BSP. Ben is a veteran driver, but I would not expect him to set the pace nationally.

Thanks for the compliment, Corey. You can pick up your trophy this weekend. They didn't get their shipment of 2nd place (and above) trophies, so they were asking everyone who was planning to come back this weekend to pick theirs up then.

Very nice job Cory! Glad to see our cars still have a chance in STS.
makofoto 04-11-2005 03:13 PM

How prepped is Joel's ESP WRX ...what size tires, etc. ... compared to the STI's running ESP ?
CamaroFS34 04-11-2005 03:41 PM
Everybody that drove Joel's STI looked FAST. Well, they WERE fast.
Thanks, Corey. I didn't feel fast... not compared to everyone else in the car! :) I wish I hadn't been running around so much doing impound duty... I only got to see a couple of your runs, but what I did see looked good -- as always! ;)

Yeah, except Andy Hollis wasn't the only class winner on Hankooks. :)
CamaroFS34 04-11-2005 04:20 PM
Cool press release :)
Hey, that's what happens when Curt has "inside information" on what happens at the event and doesn't have to rely on just the results! ;)

Karen

ps.... Andy wasn't the only class winner on Hankooks, but since STS ran 3rd and STX ran 4th, he was the "first." ;)
trhoppe 04-11-2005 04:45 PM
Andy wasn't the only class winner on Hankooks, but since STS ran 3rd and STX ran 4th, he was the "first."
boooooo!!  ;)

PS. Don't worry, I'll get plenty of press for our boys at Hankook when I take the challenge next weekend

oops ... that ESP WRX is an STI ... should have figured that out! What size Kuhmo's doesn it wear ...

Now, see here, I have to support my co-drivers first... then I can "help" out others.... ;) :D

It's on 285s.

Karen
dave bruener 04-11-2005 05:40 PM

There weren't any Mustangs or Camaros in ESP? And after all the griping to "preserve" ESP for the muscle cars! That is a big surprise.
KC 04-11-2005 09:50 PM

Dave,
Nor will there be until the rally cars get moved out. It's a sort of protest.
PS. Don't worry, I'll get plenty of press for our boys at Hankook when I take the challenge next weekend
Tom... about the challenge... sure, you might get top Street Challenge... only because I can't qualify for it. As far as the open challenge? You gotta get by me 1st bucko.

Quote of the weekend -

SCCA announcer- "John Tatum crosses the line in the Team Shocker WRX... unless you're familiar with the shocker, you have no idea quite how funny that is. If you don't know, ask Brian Flanagan"
DrBiggly 04-12-2005 02:07 PM

Ooooh, I missed that comment. I did see the "Team Shocker" foam hand though.

Sure, go right ahead. :p I'll make sure to get even by introducing you to them as "Sorry Mom and Dad, but this is our friend Keith. He was dropped on his head during birth and so he's a little strange." And then Mom will ooo and aww over you and talk your ear off for the next hour (she's an OB nurse).

My brother was dropped by our aunt at his Baptism... on his head.
jcroy66 04-12-2005 04:55 PM

Ouch! How far? Was he ok?
KC 04-12-2005 05:22 PM

From her arms.. maybe 4 feet? He was ok.. but he's the weird one of the family.

Another good quote from the weekend...

"I went in the trailer and gave Flanagan a tittytwister while he was announcing. He had to turn the mic off REAL fast before yelling "OWWWW!"-a certain other STi/"occasional" F-Body driver
DrBiggly 04-12-2005 06:26 PM

No no, the best quote from the weekend:

Tom gets out of the car after his first run on Saturday and some other competitor asks him how the car feels. The response is a loud and unhappy "IT FEELS LIKE MY *******!"
Oh thats right, your parents will be there

-Tom
muahahahahahahahaha
Oh, laugh it up, Keith and Tom...

I'm not sure you can shock my parents, actually. Let's see, my dad uttered the following now-infamous line to Phil one of the first times they'd ever met: "Oh, you haven't seen the movie Excalibur?? I'd have thought you'd have liked it - with all the sex and all..." Yeah, that's a great way to start off a relationship with your daughter's boyfriend... :p

And at our wedding, our best man Steve (who had been our roommate for the preceding 4 years at that point) "complained" in his best-man speech that Phil asked him the morning of the wedding to "be nice" in his best man speech. Which apparently completely destroyed Steve's speech. He'd apparently come up with an entire speech's worth of jokes of "just why the best man lives with the bride and groom". So Steve cooperated and left out the actual jokes, but just made that quip instead. So I'm thinking if that didn't shock my parents, I don't think anything you guys could say or do would shock them.

But please don't try anyway.

Karen,
PAX'ing that high in SM isn't exactly bad.

I'm not digging the STX PAX for this year. ESP looks like the class to be in for PAX. :)
PhilC 04-13-2005 11:31 AM

Maybe you should sleep some more and drink a little less on Friday and Saturday Tom...or maybe you should drink more and sleep less to see if we can make you completely dead to the world.
