After two years, a carbon fiber 22b wide body kit emerges.
www.aerosim-research.com

It's been a long two years. But tonight was when it all changed. Aerosim started its molds.

I will not be answering any questions about the mold making, carbon laying or carbon curing processes in this thread. There is plenty of information on the internet - www.google.com.

Meet Bob. He does the molds. He works for Swift Engineering. They make carbon stuff for F1 and Indy cars.

I'm with geronimo on that sentiment.

:D

Although I wonder if the 4D RS would look funny with a widebody kit?

Hell, if it looks good (and fits well) even *I* would think about coughing up money for this one! ...Of course it'd cost a fortune to get the wheels out to the fenders and all of that... Heh...

I'm trying to get my swap done and you guys get this rolling!!!! Damn you!!!! Looks awesome. Well worth the wait.

Those Stratos kit cars are absolutely awesome too. Have you tried and other style motors in there besides the ones you have listed? That looks like my next project after my Impreza is done.

Good to see that the 22B kit is going swell, as I will probably buy one evntually, however, I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune of having kim working there. :-\
brucelee and avtwrx - Thanks for the bump, and yeah, I agree Kym is Miss Fortune

4 door 4 door 4 door ... is coming. I'm not leaving out the sedan guys. Kym's got a 4 door L just waiting for a wide body. Oh, and we're now a Prodrive dealer and it looks like we'll be able to get special GC-07's and GC-010's to fit the wide body. So at least they won't be in the "bend over and pay for custom wheels" price range.

How far along are you on the swap and when do you think you'll be finished? I've got another interesting product that I'm going to make soon that you might be interested in. Drop me an e-mail and I'll tell you more.

The Stratos is completely insane. Sure the Subarus can be way faster but not nearly as outrageous and dangerous. You can get basically any motor that you want. As far as I know, the following have been fitted:

Ferrari 308/328
Ferrari 246 Dino (ie. the "right" engine)
Alfa 3.0L 12V and 24V V-6
Lancia Thema V-8
Lancia/Fiat 2.0L 4 cyl
Honda 4 cyl
Honda V-6 (I think 3.2L)
Nissan V-6 (?)

The company that makes the kits in the UK will make mounts for anything that fits for an additional fee or we can mock a different drivetrain up here and fabricate mounts. My kit is still in NJ in storage, but it'll be making the journey West sometime in the next month or so.

geronimo66 10-09-2003 02:27 PM

Maybe my motor mods will be done and then I can have a wide body 25b STi GC wide body freak. :D
Puckaveli 10-09-2003 03:08 PM

YHM Steve.

A Stratos with a VW 1.8t tuned to 300hp at 1900lbs would be fun.
JC 10-09-2003 03:51 PM

So...... how long until it's done?

JC
brandon 10-09-2003 04:22 PM

4 door??? Would this mean wagon too (as he desperately tries to contain his giddyness)?
stever 10-09-2003 06:13 PM

Oh yes ... wide body 25B. The 4 door will become a wagon kit too. It's a couple of new molds though because of the C and D pillars.

I can only say that it'll be done soon. I've had too many things go wrong whenever I set a date so I don't want to curse myself again.

Puckacelli - I'll answer your e-mail when I get home ... can't do it from work. 300HP and 1900lbs. is always fun. I've got a 24V Alfa V-6 for mine and that's an easy 250HP with just ECU and bigger intake runners. 300HP/300lbs-ft should be easy, but it would probably be a lot better balanced with a lighter motor.

Steve: Are you going to paint your roof/doors and get a C/F trunk or leave them the stock color?
BOY 10-10-2003 09:59 AM

Steve, congrats on getting as far as you have. I'm glad that your health as allowed your hobby to come to fuition. With that said, are you planning on expanding beyond the 22B WB kits and get into other body work? Will you be doing any custom work (as its clear that you're putting together a topnotch product well beyond that of normal body kit manufactures)?
stever 10-10-2003 02:09 PM

Kostamojen - I'm painting everything. I'm not a big fan of exposed carbon bodywork. Oh, I'm painting it all one color too :D

BOY - Yeah, my health is steadily improving and having Kym around to set up dealer accounts and basically do all of the business and promotional stuff. Soon she'll be laying up fenders too.  I've already got a line of carbon stuff to make besides these kits. Wings, hoods, trunks, interior panels and dashboards and then the same line for '02-'03 and '04 WRX's. I'll do custom work as well but one-off stuff is pricey. We're looking to take over the shop next door and put in a couple of lifts and have a showroom, but not until early next year. My ultimate plan is to offer some turn-key street cars with my body kits, etc. and whatever struts, motor, etc. you want. E-mail me if you want to talk more about custom stuff.

:) I believe we have a kit lined up for the 02-03 Impreza sedan after the GC8 kit starts shipment, and following that, the 04+ sedan kits.

Don't worry, wagon-owners, you'll be included as well. :) (In my opinion, a wide body on the 02-03 wagon would be super hot.)

I'll agree that there are some overly done kits for the WRX, but it can look good. Have faith in Steve. :)

Oh yessss ... the aeron chair. Ahhhh comfort.

Larry, you'll have to ask Kym how many Saturdays, she's working her way up to one for her L. The office is pretty sweet now and the small office is the total zen room.

We'll be back in the realm of NASIOC vendors again starting on the first of the month, so Kym will be posting stuffs for sale. So buy our stuffs and then I can quit my job and make carbon stuff for everybody.

That thread was posted when an ex-friend told me that the fender were almost ready. You've missed the whole story, so here's the cliff note version ...

Friend made fenders
Fenders sucked
I couldn't sell you guys crap
I had 2 more flakes try to do it
I rented a shop
Made the masters myself
Built an oven by myself
Finally got some help from Kym and my friend Bob
Now molds are finally being made

Basically life has completely sucked for me for the past 3 years. Mercury poisoning has totally screwed me up but I've been getting treated for it and I'm slowly getting better. Now that Kym's been taking care of the rest of the business and expanding our inventory or aftermarket parts, I have more time to deal with the fenders, etc. and life is finally getting more normal.

I've pretty much had it with the attacks on Kym. If you want to post personal things about her take it off topic or come to the shop and say it in person. This thread is my business and I take it very seriously, so please keep it on topic.

Graham - Thanks, it's people like you that have kept me going.

But if this fails or I just get to fusterated with it you can expect a call from me on getting ones of these. Oh and I will be buying me a Wagon soon and you can definalty count me in for one then.

Oh one question if you don't mind me asking, how do you get reverse molds made?

The front fenders add 2 inches, and the rears add 3 inches. You'll be able to run tires sized at 235 front and 265 rear, or 245 front and 275 rear. :)

We currently don't have any parts ready for sale. The molds for the wide body kit have been started, and once those are out, separate additional pieces will be made available: hood with integrated hood scoop and a wing.

But in the meantime, we're established as a retail store, carrying Momo, Cobra, Sparco, Prodrive, MRT, Whiteline, Brembo, AP Racing, Samco, etc., etc., etc.
