This is info i got from Modified Magazine a while back when they published the article on that fire breathing trio. Didnt somebody mess up the body work on the Blue STi by hitting a few road cones? Just wondering...Congrats that ride is sick!! Im not usually into the graphic/vinyl thing but that STi looks soooo good.
If you check out the HIN contest page for the car, there's video of Rob and Big Black during the race, and Rob mentions how he ran into some cones at a buck-20. Ouch. Youll also see him do some modification to the lower lip of the front skirt. Fully custom now. :)
The skirt is back on securely, the fog light covers have been replaced, and the graphics look good, but the lip is still gone, and the two strips that used to be joined by the lip were hanging down a bit when it arrived, but the shop is going to button it back up. If you check out the photo 555wrc posted, you can see the lower lip is missing. Tomorrow the bumper will look like that photo. Can't even notice anything's missing unless you know what you're looking for. The driver's mirror saw some fixing in the video too, but it looks brand new now.
Seems Uber Wagon and I share a tuner! Turns out he rolled up to my car while the tuner was on a street run. It spent yesterday on the dyno getting re-mapped for this altitude, our ethanol mix gas, and an extra bit of reliability, all while smoothing out the edges and bumping the power at the wheels from 283 to 316. Ah, the dyno. What a wonderful invention. Says I've got plenty more room to grow if I want to start pushing the engine a little. We shall see..... Man I love this car!
Thanks for everyone for the many congrats!
Well that wasn't this Uber Wagon, but I was still glad to hear you got some love from Harvey...definitely smart to get re-mapped for the thin air up here.

Ah yes, that was my mistake. Seems there's another guy with a similar ride to yours who Harvey said worked in the same industry.... not quite such a small world.

So much fun! This thing is a blast to drive, and everywhere I go, people seem to love seeing it. I havent found a hater yet. Such a nice surprise. I had a kid in a Home Depot parking lot come up and ask if I would mind if he took some pictures. Pretty cool. Got about 200 miles on the clock this weekend. My only run-in was on my way home Sunday night. I was stopped on the line at a double left, along side what appeared to be a badge-less 03 Audi RS6. I wanted to get into his lane, so I gave it some gas after the turn and let off at the speed limit to check my mirrors for the lane change, only to see him blow by. I guess he thought we were racing. Oops. Must be the graphics.

GumballSTI, congrats on winning the car!!
Just curious on how the prize taxes work for winning a car of that value.

I like the screen name. I've got a bit a Swedish in my bag of tricks as well. Good stuff.
As far as taxes go, I try not to think about it :( . I owe sales tax on the value on the title (8.5%), and here's the kicker.... federal income tax on the value of the prize as if it were straight cash (25-30%, I don't know, I've never been in a tax bracket that high!). But I've got until April to figure that out. For now it's pure short-shifting bliss.

Yeah, that was my question orginally before I entered the contest. They say the car is worth $60,000, but wouldnt they blue-book it for DMV calculations?

You're right about the DMV, but that's only for the sales tax. The Feds use whatever HIN declares as the "prize value" for the income tax. We shall see....

I really dig the camo. that'd look nice on my battlewagon.
any info on how the camo was applied?
paint? vinyl?
I know the builders of the car are lurking in the thread, any insight?
that'd be fun to vinyl my car up with the camo like that during the winter

Vermont Sportscar built the three STis, and a lot of the mods are not hp boosters, but more durability and handling additions. I had it tuned conservatively so the engine would last forever. It could make quite a bit more power with a new map, but I left it at 316 for now.

The tuner I worked with recommended awdpirates and it looks like a great local community. Thanks for the invite!

No they used external contractor from what I understand, like they do for tinting windows or painting the car. They might have designed it though.
It's probably too expensive for private party to do it, i.e. for you or me. I used to design and install carwraps, so if you want some vendors for printing I'll let you know. It's a nice three digit figure though to print it.

the gumball graphics were designed in house by DC Shoes and VSC. the camo is a 3M wrap that we had a local installer print and install for us. The DC logos are cut vinyl that was laid on top of the wrap.
expect to pay between $1000 and $2000 to wrap a vehicle, and that doesn't include design time.
and before you ask: sorry, the camo design files are not available or for sale.

I'm actually thinking of doing a sort of... not full body wrap
I'm doing some amoeba style shapes to be cut into different shades of blue (close enough to WR Blue) to be applied and removed as necessary.
My interior is going to be retrimmed in sky blue camo nylon (door inserts, seat centers, wagon cargo drape.
