You have to cut out your cig lighter and dremel the slot to make it fit.

Take your time. Do not rush, and make sure you have the proper tools. You will also want a mini file set to get the cupholder just right. Also be prepaired to dremel out some of the dash brace. I ended up cutting the center mount which holds the left side of the cupholder off. I then made a new mount for it. Let me know if you have any questions.

Blk,

Anything to cut (esp metal) besides the cig/ashtray plastic?
Blk,

Nope, it is all plastic..it shouldn't take to long either, I did it at night in like 15 minutes. Just tape off where you want to cut, then use a dremel with a cutting wheel. then fine tune it to your specs

J*Bishop...still down for a mini shoot on Tuesday?

That is the Subaru DIN pocket with the flip door. You can get it at http://www.subarugenuineparts.com

has any1 just double sided taped it on the bottom plastic of the steering colum like the plastic above the petals thats where mine is going to mount
mindchatter 02-22-2006 07:11 AM
What A-Pillar mount is that?
It's the Defi cup and Defi visor. IIRC total cost for the mounting hardware was in the $30 neighborhood.

Yes, people have done that. I didn't do something like that because I'd rip it off or break it with my knee if I put it there.

How come the amber defi's look so damn hard to read in the day light... ?

That's the only thing holding me back from them.... Yes they match the sti's cluster but the white/red needs seem soo much nicer as far as being able to read them clearly...

Anyone have anything on that?

Thanks,
-Nigel

They
display fine in my humble opinion. They don't match my WRX, Apexi, or Wideband O2 gauges, but I don't really give a [emailprotected] I ain't concerned about color matching gauges. Just concerned about accurate gauges.

I'm sure you're speaking of my pic.

it came out really bad for some reason.

the only time they are dimmer is when direct sunlight is hitting them, even then they are easy to read.

my pic doesn't do them justice at all.

Same here, and hate it...

I love the fact that they light up white and I always want to play with the buttons now!!! Such a pain in the ass always opening it up and what not,,,

Gotta find a new spot.... It is a GOOD spot though so that way people don't automaticly want to steal everything...etc..

I never found that there was anything to play with. EGT, Oil temp and boost settings were always the same. The "playback" was completely worthless. Especially with any sort of datalogging.

hmmm, those are the exact same gauges I have...

Maybe just cause we installed them tonight is why I want to play around with them all!!..lol

Here is a question for you since I can't seem to get an answer from anywhere..

Defi's EGT, the probe comes with a threaded adaptor but I don't understand how the probe STAYS in the threaded adaptor... when I put everything together by hand I can just pull the probe right out...

What to do?

Thanks,
-Nigel
mbiker97 04-21-2006 01:18 PM

There is a crush fitting in the threaded part. Make sure you DO NOT tighten the 2 halves together before it is installed. Thread it into the pipe first and the bottom tight. Then insert the probe into the fitting and set the depth. Once you have the depth set (about half way into the pipe) tighten the upper half of the fitting. Hope this helps.

It does! Thank you,

Last question for the crush fitting which was should it be inside the threaded part? It's a cone shape so should the cone shape go along the coned shaped that is threaded into the header or should it be reversed? There are two pieces, looks like a small coned shaped disc/washer, then a larger coned shaped metal piece... how doe these go together ...ekk! The directions don't make it very easy to see...

broadfield...what series defi gauges are those?
VipersEatLotus 05-04-2006 09:25 AM

For those of you that mounted your control unit in the glovebox, what firewall hole did you run the wires for the sensor harnesses? I think this is where i will be mounting my control unit and was just curious. Thanks!

bump this to top. I am looking for a good spot to mount the control box. looks like this thread was for earlier model. i believe the advance control box is larger for some reason. can anyone post pics of were you mounted yours. thanks
broadfield 10-07-2011 09:42 AM

Assuming you have this one, then you can just hide it wherever. It's made to be hidden! Then you can just mount the small controller wherever you want. That was the issue with the old model is that the main box was also the controller, thus limiting mounting options.
