I'm working on it still. When I get her, her own EVO or WRX then I pretty much have free reign of this car within budgetary concerns. ;)

I can see its kinda hard to justify to a girl why you need a vent on the roof... they just shake their heads and think you're dumb.
was married for 10 years, now divorced for 3 years. have primary custody on my 10 year old boy.
i can chop up the suby into a convertible if i get inspired enough

definetley...there are no 2nd chances!
you could do most of the install and take apart the interior and just have them cut a hole for you to cut cost...that's what i'm thinking

Aren't you suppose to apply some rust inhibitor post cutting? Car looks hot with vent installed.
| vf22-wrx | 04-22-2006 01:57 PM |
I am pretty sure the gasket seals all water out of the place where the raw metal from the cut is if you install and cut the hole properly...there is also a rubber sticky gasket for where the the hinges bolt to the roof...it's very nice...and if you want just get some silicone that's the texture of toothpaste (forgot what it's called) and apply it around the outide of the gasket and then wipe away the excess...then it dries and you are fool proof...I believe lol
| Yesitsdrew5310 | 04-22-2006 03:29 PM |
Step 13 Install the Rubber Seal:
Now grab the gasket that was included with the vent. This has a type of glue inside it where the rubber attaches to the metal.
This has a glue inside that seals it. But if you are extra paranoid you can add something on the outside to glue the gasket to the top of the roof.

Read the DIY. Yes there is a certain spot for the vent to go When you put the bracket up it will show you where to drill the holes. Read starting from Part 2 Step 2
As for a cost? I have no idea. I think there are a few guys who installed it in a shop. Maybe they will chime in.

I'm quite happy to get this...
Should be a really easy install too.
Anyone know how much the mesh inserts are for the vent... I'm still debating if I should get it or not.. seems like it might make more wind noise?

prepare of a 5 hour install, it's was about 2 hours before I even start cuting the hole. It took a while for me to unclip the headliner. After the inital hole, everything is quick. But really take your time to measue the location of the openning, before cutting it.
I have my vent for about 4 months now. The vent is open all the time execpt at highway travel. I don't even close it at night when I park it outside. You don't need the mesh. Start thinking about the maplights, after 3 month without the maplight, I custom install one last week.

I like the look from inside the cab- sort of like the entrance to a submarine, except in this case, your crew would have to be squirrels to fit through it. Or spider monkeys. A periscope and radar with seats for monkey technicians would complete the look and be, well, dopalicious. The trunk monkey could load torpedoes.
Which is why I bought a wagon; to accomodate my monkey crew. Y'all suckas in sedans are going down!

with the angle of the visor, it is already aimming down, but the light is still in my eye. For a while I was trying to put the light inside the visor, instead of on top, but the light unit is too think. The unit is not as clean as I hoped, anything I add on now (ie a shield) it going to make it look very tacky.
