Easystreet is looking for a Female Driver part 2

musee13 09-17-2004 02:29 PM

I tried to keep the answers simple, so instead of writing an essay, I just chose one main topic and wrote a paragraph.
ArnoldM 09-17-2004 04:38 PM

is there a minimum lap time while on a cell phone requirment?

i kidd i kidd

PKer 09-17-2004 06:49 PM

I didn't read all the posts so I apologize in advance if this has been said but.....
Why is the spelling on the Easy Street Post/Flyer so bad? I would be very embarrased is spell check really that hard?

From the NASIOC home page:

Easy Street Motorsports is searching the nation for a female drives to race the "World's Fastest Street Subaru" in 2005!

Experience is not required, but it can be helpful when you have to pilot ove 1000hp of all wheel drive, ground pounding, thunder!!

Winner will rexeive: A full year sponsorship as driver of the Red ESX STi race car in 2005 and will be expected to travel across the United States and race in major drag racing circuits as well as attent numerous shows and promotional events throughout the year. The winder will also receive a complate scholarship to "Frank Hawley's NHRA Drag Racing School" and ear a $40,000 salary for the 2005 season.

That's just page 1

I'll apply anyways!

jackassery 10-15-2004 05:01 PM

Anyone have any more details on this? Like when they will announce the winners and such.

Its funny my girl is saying the complete opposite. She says they wont pick her because she has no previous racing experience. She tells me oh they dont want some blond Abercrombie girl, they want someone who can go fast and has track experience. Its funny that shes worrying for the completely opposite reason from every other girl in this thread.

Gravel Girl 10-15-2004 05:08 PM

According to a reliable source, they have well over 400 applications. Reading and sorting will take awhile. Assuming that they actually read them and dont just look through the pictures.
What did other girls submit? I filled out the application, created one of my own typed out to answer the long questions, made copy of drivers license, submitted 3 additional photos, and for the resume I just listed my racing accomplishments which was pretty short. What did you gals do?
jackassery 10-15-2004 05:19 PM

Well I know that my girl has refused to tell me anything. Not the length of her responses or even a vague idea of what she answered. I know she sent it in a big yellow envelope that she found specifically to match my car (for good luck), and jokingly said she also threw in some of her modeling pictures. I dont think she was joking though and did probably threw some in.
Midnight_Gold 10-15-2004 05:23 PM

56k Beware!!!!!!
I submitted a hacked pdf printout of their entry form with my answers printed on the form. The Impression question required a second page, but the other question was easy enough to answer.

My resume was printed on nice paper, with most of my accomplishments in both Subarus listed, as well as driving schools/track days. I also listed references (SOA peeps as well as codrivers and instructors) with numbers.

I sent my driver's license along with 8x12 versions of these pics as well as a professional photographer's pic of me midturn:

quadturbowrxgtr-s 10-15-2004 09:52 PM

now everywhere I look it just says resume, not racing resume, now obviously racing experience would be included but do you think they want a normal one to be fitted into it. it is a J-O-B if I'm not mistaken. you are being hired so they might want to know more than just how dirty you can get. they may want you to support claims of customer relations and people skills with real-world refereces. just a thought. my non-dumb girlfriend has entered it as well and we rode a fine line between applying for a real job and giving them her very few racing credentials. good luck to everyone. as long as a REAL Subaru girl gets it we will be happy.

BTW: nice car midnight!
Gravel Girl 10-20-2004 12:55 PM

edit: if she made it over some of the other girls who I know that applied then its definetly a case of who has the shortest mini skirt then a "driver search"

You guys are silly.

I hope Jo wins... she seems like really good drag racing chick material. Won't touch Lisa Kubo, but maybe Ali can give her a hands on intro into the world of racing. ;)

If it doesn't work out, she should definitely try out to be one of those Pirelli girls. You know who'd make a KILLER Pirelli girl? SESIOC's own Mrs. Deadbolt. You guys should go to SE forum and check out her bikini pics. She's a hottie (and really awesome too)!

jackassery 10-20-2004 11:19 PM

So is there a list of who got picked?
quadturbowrxgtr-s 10-21-2004 10:54 PM

have they called people already, where are you all getting your info from?
Gravel Girl 10-22-2004 12:34 PM

Apparently they chose people to come in for interviews and they narrowed it down from 400 to a final 6 (which Jo is part of). They're doing something this weekend and will choose the final 1 then I guess. I hate those guys. My bf called them to ask if I was in the running and they said no because they were choosing girls with racing experience. I know for a fact that I have more experience than some of their finalists. I wish theyd just get some balls and say it how it is Looking for Models.
Midnight_Gold 10-22-2004 03:00 PM

Well, that may very well be the case. I dunno... it's a shame that this is going to get people all up in arms, but I can see that it's probably an unavoidable fact.

I, personally, am totally ok with the fact that there are 6 other Subaru girls out there that are hottar than me. I just really hope that if they are, in fact, looking for someone with experience, they will pick the most qualified candidate.

But Gravel Girl... you should know that mad skillz is something that takes time to cultivate (for those of us who are not trhoppe;) ). If there are some individuals in that final 6 who are lying about their experience, it won't take long for the ESX crew to figure it out.

Or wait... is it really that easy to drag race an automatic, launch controlled scoobie?

~ Miranda (the 8th or 9th hottest Subaru chick out there ;) )
Gravel Girl 10-22-2004 03:08 PM

I doubt anyone lied. Well, I doubt that any of the girls lied. Ali and Esx should have just put on their website, "Looking for hot model chick to pretend to race." Ugly and fat girls, regardless of racing experience, need not apply. I've been racing since '01... not a ton of experience but more than some of the finalists, I'm sure. I was afraid that it was a model contest in the first place and apparently I was right. :annoyed:
crazyhorse 10-22-2004 03:17 PM

I've said it once and I'll say it again...

Ok that is all. :)

Wait.. just one last comment... If it was really a model search the girl that came by this dealership and picked up an application a little while back would have won hands down. They'd have skipped the narrowing process completely. And now to run for my life before my girlfriend sees this post...
jcroy66 10-22-2004 03:52 PM
Ugly and fat girls, regardless of racing experience, need not apply.
Well, at the risk of sounding horrible, weight IS a legit consideration. Every extra pound means the car has to work a tiny bit harder and the car goes that tiny bit slower. That was one of my motivating factors for losing 30 pounds in the last 6 months - I really wanted to win the first official STXL National Championship. Unfortunately, I am "teh slow", so didn't even come close to winning anyway.
I was afraid that it was a model contest in the first place and apparently I was right. :annoyed:
Do you know that the finalists don't have any racing experience?? What are you basing your evaluation on?

Tim, sweetheart, I can pull a trigger faster than you can get out range ;) .

Congrats to everyone who made final 6! I think it's wonderful that so many people applied, and I'm sure the finalists are more than qualified and more than deserving. To non finalists: keep doing what you're doing, promoting yourself and your sport, and good luck with future endeavors!

Yes, the entry form said that, however my bf called Ali to inquire and he was told that they chose the finalists based on a ton of experience, even though I know for a fact that the little experience I have exceeds the experience that some of the finalists have. Figure out that one....

Above all... agreed.
DrBiggly 10-22-2004 04:38 PM

Sounds like their application was rather disingenuous and instead should have said something more along the lines of "Female driver wanted, be not afraid of modelling photo shoots."
V6TurboTA 10-22-2004 04:46 PM

This is the biggest sham ever.

I think its pretty shady at best.

~v6
Midnight_Gold 10-22-2004 04:58 PM

You know, I think it's great that they're getting a girl to drive. If she's a supermodel, then she's a supermodel. If Gravel Girl's boytoy is correct, though, that certainly does make ESX seem kinda shady. Why say that no experience is necessary, then say it is, but have finalists without experience? Doesn't make much sense.. Sounds to me like someone got a line.

So... is there even 1 NASIOC finalist?

lancer_sau 10-22-2004 05:10 PM

i wanted to apply for jokes, but i wouldn't think they would since i'm from canada.

if they're so bias about looks and what not, imagine how they would feel about a canadian/armenian.

congrats to all. you're so damn lucky.
javid 10-22-2004 05:11 PM

Lets be realistic though, appearance is a big part of high dollar racing.

There are plenty of bald, toothless, overweight redneck dirt track racers (I live in GA so.....) that 'could' compete in NASCAR. But they can't cause they don't have the look that big time sponsors/teams want. (and probably don't want too either, they race for the sport and would loose their minds with all the politics involved in such a large series).

Professional racing is not just driving.
Further more, drag racing is hardly driving

Tom, that's the thing... she's claimed a lot more racing experience on her site (and I'm assuming on her resume). Assuming our skeptics are right and this was a beauty pageant, they probably took the resumes at face value. So, maybe that's why none of my racing references got phone calls. ;)
