Michael turned a 1:16+ lap just now, and but he's back up to speed... that is ominous!
| OnTheGas | 10-22-2006 02:03 PM |
Don't want to jinx anyone... but Sato is running a very nice race today... currently in 10th!
| OnTheGas | 10-22-2006 02:04 PM |
Michael is up to 6th now...
| brianmcd | 10-22-2006 02:08 PM |
Holy crap 1:12.385 for MSC.
| OnTheGas | 10-22-2006 02:09 PM |
I wonder if Button will get 2nd place due to this pitstop...
| OnTheGas | 10-22-2006 02:10 PM |
Michael P6! Ahead of him, the clean driving, "it's not my fault!" Fisi! :)
| brianmcd | 10-22-2006 02:11 PM |
I wish I could watch it. I'm only going off of live timing and scoring. Gotta download it tonight. Can't wait to hear the nasioc shoutout.

1:13.358 for alonso. Also seems like button has had a great race.
This is the first time I've watched live timing and scoring, and man is it great. You get so much info. For those of you who haven't tried it, go to www.formula1.com and fire it up. It's great.

I think it's called Fisichella ;p Schumi just ran a 1:15.580 :\
EDIT: T & S said something about a small mistake... Wish I was watching the race.

Sorry for the newb question, but how many laps is the race? Can't see it on T & S

Thanks for the info, OnTheGas.

I wonder where Kimi's loyalty lies :p
| ArtGecko | 10-22-2006 02:26 PM |
I think the guys missed the same thing happening on the previous problem with Michael. It almost looked like a fuel pick-up problem, as he lost power in the turn.
| OnTheGas | 10-22-2006 02:26 PM |
is the track yellow?
| brianmcd | 10-22-2006 02:27 PM |
I see yellow is out. Wouldn't a safety car make things interesting? hehe.
| OnTheGas | 10-22-2006 02:27 PM |
Rats! Turn 1 is a primary passing area!
| OnTheGas | 10-22-2006 02:29 PM |
Green again, local yellow lifted... Kimi's loyalty is only to Kimi, and he's a racer, so no gifts!

| brianmcd | 10-22-2006 02:32 PM |

1:12.1 Wow! That was Michael's race... By the faster car, and driver out there. Alonso and Fisi's best were low 13, or maybe Alonso did a high 12.
From what I'm reading, it'll be much easier to pick the results in the next few seasons (read BORING!), but this year, with the tire war being the greater factor in performance... it's difficult to calculate who will have the advantage on a Sunday afternoon. This round I'm going old skool... Ferrari will be faster, but the other B'stone runners (read Toyota) will not be in the points...
So yet again, more stupid picks:

Michael - He'll win, or blow it up! :-D
Felipe - Despite the added pressure of a home GP, he'll beat the detuned Renaults
Fernando - It's unusual for him to finish below 2nd...
Kimi - He's gonna look good in red on the top spot of the podium next season!
Giancarlo - Kimi in a lessor car will beat him again
Jenson - Will dogfight Pedro for these points
Pedro - Grabbing the scraps
Rubens - He used to be the young brazilian supporting Michael @ Ferrari

Holy Crap! My quick calculations make that 16 more than my 42 for 58 points! Great "worst guess" ;)
How can Ferrari guard against a freak fuel pump failer???
You guys take it too far. MS reliability has been GREAT all year. You can't expect them never to have a failure. They obviously have a VERY reliable engine, they could only have expected it to stay that way.
And teh fuel-pump, that is a freak failure that you never see....again, how is that their fault???
Just chill a bit. I had work all day and I forgot I was watching the Qualifying replay. So when I saw the failure, I assumed it was a tranny or engine problem. I found out later that it was a fuel pump failure after the post.

I understand the implications (Kimi going to Ferrari, MS passing the torch, etc.)...BUT strictly mechanically speaking, it probably wasn't even the best pass of the race...

So my poor picks, ended up with lucky results!

That was a great race. Great on track passing, lots of action everywhere on the grid.
It's too bad about Michael's tire going down. Had he been 1 inch farther away from Fisi he probably would have won. Still would not have won the championship, due to Alonso finishing well.

Agreed. It would've been great to see how Alonso and Button would've reacted to him. Would Alonso just let him by?

I wanted Michael to win, but he went out showing he could drive wheel to wheel with anyone on the track and he retires with 7 championships. That is quite a record and really big shoes for someone to fill.

Or would we have seen another questionable move like the ones that Michael pulled on Hill in '94 and Villeneuve in '97? Talented driver to be sure. Nothing short of amazing. But he sure has pulled some idiot maneuvers, too. Like the qualifying "trick" he pulled at Monaco this year.
In any event, that is what might have been, except for a cut tire today. All in all it's made for some very exciting races, including today.
-- Thanks Michael for everything- the good and the bad.
-- Congratulations to Fernando on your second consecutive driving title.
-- Congratulations to Felipe, I'm sure we'll be seeing plenty more of you in the future.
-- Thanks Speed for signing up for three more years of F1 coverage. I wish you'd do the same with WRC.
