From the looks of it the stuff you see on trunk is the adhesive that came off badge.

The first one I made was the i with purple and black. I bought the badge off ebay. The paint was so easy to get off but I ruined the plastic with goof off it's dull unless I put wax on it. I've sanded it and used the plastx stuff but whatev I like the red one more :)
I just finished the orig today with red and silver... I noticed the plastic didn't get hazy/bubbly with the OEM badge.

I decided to take a shot at this after reading this thread. My '03 badge was yellow, and didn't match anything. The paint was a royal PIA to get off and I'm moderately pleased with the results. I decided to go Gold and Blue to match the car. Also painted my fogs yellow while I was at it. What do you think?

last pics pretty cool. I like that you can see the STi on the intercooler. Nice job with the badge, and that front plate delete. Im thinking about doing this to my badge. But I was also trying to decide if I should get the "i" badge. I don't know why I like it, but its kind of cool. Im liking this red/black scheme though. I have an OBP 2011 too. Ordering the super tones soon. But I was considering painting them black, not sure I'm feeling the stand out horn look.

Thanks!! Yea I originally wanted to powder coat the horns black too but decided to keep them re's to go with my black on black/ red scheme of the car. I think they look tough either way. Also like the "I" badge too. I'm thinking about getting it later on but had time and wanted to see what this would like on the car.

I don't think so. I think the newest they go is 04-05ish. I do know that the 08+ badges are a good bit bigger.
EDIT: Just saw kwils post. Don't know how much they are on there, but I can guarantee they are priced a LOT higher than they are worth.

I used a heat gun a low setting and moved it back and forth over the badge for a few minutes. It heats up the adhesive on the back to stretch out a bit. Be careful with the heat gun and keep it a good distance from the badge as to not melt it. I used a thin putty knife and shimmied it behind the chrome ring and slowly added force to start separating the glue. The whole piece (chrome ring and front piece) will come off. Patience is the key as to not scratch the car.

I used paint thinner but it was a little strong. It came off well bit you have to be careful because it'll eat that acrylic plastic likes it cool. Thinner is cheap and worked but don't let it soak or anything. It takes time but use a toothpick and q-tips. Good luck and hope it comes out good.

Im having complications haha. I have an 2011 sedan, wanting to do both front and rear. On the front, do I have to take off the whole bumper? The back, I already took off the trunk lining, I saw another thread where the guy said he just pushed a screw driver to get it off. On mine, its really hard to get to, and when I do get to it, i push as hard as I can and it doesnt even budge, ive even hit it with the blow dryer. Can ANYONE help me please!

The front is stubborn but should come off with proper force and patience. A blow dryer should be doing the trick. As far as the back IDK. I was going to tackle that this weekend. I though it was double sided taped on?

no
just remove the grill
and then use a stiff putty knife to dig under the badge and pry up after hitting it with the hairdryer for a while
the back one is mounted into the trunk, you'll have to remove the fabric deadening stuff to get to it

You don't need to remove the trunk linking. There are 2 holes in the trunk, behind the emblem, but they're like guidelines to show where the emblem goes. Just use floss around the edge of the emblem, then use an old credit card or something thin to cut through the double sided tape between the two pegs behind the emblem. Comes right out. I took mine off last week but put it back on when I realized there were holes in the trunk and didn't feel like filling/sanding/repainting.

| Tehmap | 08-03-2011 09:11 AM |
So after destroying my first emblem, I went and bought an "I" emblem for ebay.
Let me get this right for chemicals just to make sure
Goof off- Works but over use can cause a cloudy sort of haze on the badge
Bleach- works the best to take of the chrome, use sparingly
M1 remover- something I tried, works amazing for the paint but don't use a ton or the plastic will melt. It works though. (better than goof off in my opinion)
I am going to work on it in a few days when I recieve the badge, going with a neon green and black color scheme. I'll post pics when it's done.

I took it off using a blowdryer, fishline, and an old credit card. I then drilled 2 decent size holes in the back cover, and heated it up ALOT and kept pushing the emblem out. I then used goo off, sand paper, bleach, and polish. Im painting it at this moment. Its still a bit hazy, but its the best ima get. Will post pics when im done.

You can buy them at the dealership. But there only for the sport grill. And I don't like the sport grill, so I'm keeping my normal badge and hitting it with some paint :)
