Does anyone have night time pics of JDM STI foglights. all the pics i have seen are daytime. im looking to change out my 05 wrx mini fogs for the bigger style?

are they pretty bright? and is that considered the yellow cover?
| RP31 | 09-21-2006 12:55 AM |
They were bright enough. Those are shots with the Narva Gold 55w bulbs. They did a nice job of filling in what the HIDs miss, both in front of the car and to the sides.
I have clear lenses with clear rockblocker film over them, and the yellow color is from the bulbs themselves.

I know the JDM's are larger, but are the brighter than the project beam ones found on the US WRX?

The fogs on the Blue STi are the ones that I have. They are the Ion fogs. They are yellow when you turn them on.
| dsmkid95 | 09-21-2006 01:13 AM |
ok gotcha
| Jonnyfilmboy | 09-21-2006 11:41 AM |
I have the clear ones. And let me tell you, the difference is night and day. The USDM projector fogs can't hold a candle to the JDM fogs. JDM fogs are clearly superior. They light up the corners much more, curbs next to the car get lit, and they look cool. Also, I would highly recommend paying the extra cash for the JDM bumper beam. It's a lot lighter and improved the steering feel quite a bit for me. Alternatively, you could cut your bumper to fit the fogs. But I would avoid the cheap crapo bumper beam "replacements" that some places are selling. They aren't worth $10, don't fit, and offer zero protection for your vehicle in small parallel parking collisions.

I'd get the clear with the yellow bulb. You can always add yellow in the form of rockblocker film or yellow bulbs, but if you get the colored lenses, you can't go back to white. Know what I mean?

^^^
That was my reasoning as well. Plus I took the effort to clear my headlights, install chrome/amber bulbs in them, etc... No sense in putting yellow film or yellow lenses on the fogs afterwards!

This is a must-do mod for any '04-'05, IMO. I got the clear lens and put yellow bulbs inside. Clean look during the day, nice look/function at night.

Don't do that. HID's in fogs is worthless. Seriously, just go with the ion yellow lens jdm fogs in the first place. Yellow is the best color light for use in fog anyway.

i did not know you can change the bulbs in the JDM Fogs.. are the PIAA Plasma Ion bulbs a significant upgrade?
my lights look pretty bright to me right now but the clear look is driving me craz.. i am tempted to upgrade the bulbs and add smoke tint to them

I think they already touched on it during this thread, but with the factory adjustable HID's is there any use for fog lights?

Yes. Even though you can point the headlights down, they can't compare to a dedicated, good fog setup. And HIDs don't work well in fog anyway.
| dsmkid95 | 09-27-2006 06:15 PM |
well aside from my fogs i need bright light at night because of my vision and right now i just have a plain ol wrx with stock lights and i need to brighten up the road a bit.

Did you guys have to replace or alter your bumper beam to fit these in?
| calib17a | 10-13-2006 08:47 PM |
I have the Turboxs fmic which comes with an intercooler support beam to replace the stock bumper beam. It's aluminum and light as hell but I don't think it'll do to much as far as any type of protection. The intercooler core will probably take the brunt end of a low speed collision.
I'm have the Nokya yellow H3 bulbs with the Rockblocker yellow film it's a deeper yellow, more like the Lexus yellow foglight. I'm trying to find the yellow capsules that fit in the housing so I don't have to buy these expensive jdm h3 bulbs. I did like the look of the Piaa ion yellow with my yellow Rockblocker film the best though. I even made custom fog covers for my jdm fogs.

Bringing this up from the dead as I just got my multicolored JDM fogs..
I did Not put them on the car yet however when holding the lens and the new fog surround in my hand there is a gap all the way around the JDM foglight...
Think of a circle, and then a smaller circle fitting in the first circle..
All the pictures I have seen they look to be a pretty TIGHT fit as far as the light and surround hole?
Anyone confirm that there is a gap all the way around the actual fog light itself?
Thanks much,
-Nigel

Is it normal that I can put the foglight THROUGH the foglight bezel?
Or should it not be able to fit through?
Again this is all just me holding it in my hands. Nothing is mounted in the car yet.
