where their shoot for the specific race would make a difference. If they shoot in FL and the car is built in NJ then there are alot of added cost there and will the builders be willing and able to loose days of work or whatever to travel with the car?

get a new converter so we can launch at like 5200 rpms and we will be set, not only that but we will be a lot more consistant

Just wanted to say this is an amazing proposal guys. I really hope you can get it done. I wish I could get involved in some way other than just donating (and I will once I know where to) But I really hopes this goes good for you guys.

See....this is so much better said than your first post. I agree it will take money and lots of hard work to do this, but any difficult task is made easier by many hands.

exactly, if they agree to allow us to run on the show and we allow them to advertise on the car i am sure that they would be glad to sponor us, whats a turbo to them if they get there name plastered on national televison for a 1/2 hour
and you also have to think if we race at a place like atco or englishtown (below and at sea level) the car will be a lot faster there than at 3200 ft
and this car is going to be a lot faster than we expect because it is goning to weigh a lot less than a stock car, from early guesses we could weigh about 800lbs less than a normal wrx or sti, and each 100lbs out of a car is .1 faster in the 1/4 so just on weight savings we are looking at .8 faster at the far end of the track just on weight, I mean if some guy go's 12's with our setup in his full trim car we will go 11's easy

The best pitch they have going for them is the evo vs. subaru grudge and the fact that it's 2 major forums from each car. It would make for nice publicity. Other shows had famed street racers go against each other... so as long as you have tha ngle, anything's possible.

I'd definitely fly out to see that one too. And im in Canada. I just hope this all goes through! Even if we'd loose, it would be a hell of an event if you ask me. NASIOC would be exposed more for sure, and regardless it would be kick ass fun to build a race machine like that using all the help and support from fellow scoob fanatics.

How will we be able to go against that.. because if we're having a shop represent us, then they can have their shop represent the EVO side, and you know a well known shop like AMS will be more than glad to show us up at a big event like this.
We need to think H6 built, twin GT30R turbos, headwork, etc.. you know the goodies and some nitrous so we have some negotiation room.. what'ya think?

Just to throw the idea out there....
How about a ice/snowcross challenge? We're coming into winter and there's plenty of the white stuff coming. Pinks on a frozen lake might be kinda cool. the cars would be cheaper to build and driver + car > negotiation.

The faster car doesn't always win on that show it's more strategy than speed. Sand bagging quite a bit and then adding speed back in each run is the key. Not a fast car.

When we contact pinks can't we say - okay we are bringing a 12 second car - and our opponent along with us will build a car to run that kind of time. I have seen this time and time again where in the neg. process one person brings a faster car than agreed upon. If we limit the time to something more reasonable, (but obvioulsy make it so it could go faster - up the boost after runs whatever), so we can keep costs down?
Also we need to decide who the neg. is going to be. I have seen so many shows where the other team has lost due to poor choices for races. It's critical that someone who is not going to back down and let the other team walk all over them.

The best strat imho is to win the first 2 races - loose the second race by a couple of cars then smoke them the thrid time by going to your maximum setup. And we have to have something on the bottle. Neg. at first that we are not taking the bottle off and perhaps the other team may say the same thing, which is fine. Also making sure to neg. time for cool down/work on car time between runs, say like 10/15 minutes.
Also, if we do this, first race has to be heads up. :) Also - DRIVER!! We need someone who is very good. Doesn't matter if we have a million dollar car if it isn't driven well! :)

uhmm... that's why i said a 35r and NOT a 40r or larger... 35r .82 is proably as big as you can get (10 second turbo) without needed nitrous to spool it. have you browsed the 35r proven power threads?

properly funded, I could film the build up and put it on DVD... haha... that would be another financial struggle to deal with though - film crews can be spendy.

I think this is a great idea! I like the paypal idea too, so all the nasioc members who want to help out but don't have parts or time or can't get to the build, can still contribute and smile proudly as the Evo keys are handed over. (I think we should just drive it off a cliff)haha. Where's the nasioc owner on this?? (ps. sorry if he's already said something, I haven't read through the entiiire thread).

I think we should try and get a bulletin on the front of the sight for donations but having a websight also would not hurt, and if we can have it for free so much the better

as for this list gc835 is talking to pinks today to find out what is going on, he has already been assigned as the overall figurehead of this project, I have already written a letter for donations to send out, that way we can start working on them the moment we get the ok, (check page 4 post 90)
and my advice for the car (if we win) is to sell it and put half back into the car, and half into the sight I think that that would be a great soultion

Yeah at this point lets see if we can get on the show. However if not - we could do a more informal challenge to evoM and decide between us where to race and put the peoples elbow on them. :)

hey guys whats going on?? tryed to get in touch with nate but got some secretary. i left nate a lengthy message in which i explained to him that we are a large forum who wants to come together and build a car. we have people willing to donate $$, time and parts. i was told that next week i should hear back. i also got a semi response to my first email. they now need another email with pics. ill write it up with a pic of the shell. ill post the draft on here before i send it to get approval. keep it up guys lets get it going
