In the Vette vs Nova episode they showed last week both were high buck big inch pro-streeters and I will pretty much guarantee ya that the Vette was WAY deep in the 9's and probably dipped in the 8's on at least one pass...

That episode along with the one with the 1000hp Monte Carlo SS where probably the fastest ones. Well except for the turbo Busa episode that the guys trap at 190 :eek:

Make it a stipulated matchup. Cars must be street legal, titled and registered, w/DOT radials and 25psi max boost. Then bring this to the race...
EJ22 w/forged internals, 272 cams in an AVCS JDM head, 1600CC injectors, standalone EM of your choice, and a 500 hp fogger shot in 2 progressive stages...Cheaper than a turbo and not what they would expect! No lag and easier on the trans for 5 laps! In a old 94 GC8 Impreza L which is already 5-800lbs lighter then remove turbo/IC weight on top of that, swap in a R180 with a Quaiffe LSD w/dccd set the fronts to minimum torque , slap on some drag radials and driveshaft shop axles out back? FTW!!!

Is the goal to build the fastest, cheapest car that will probably fall apart after 10 runs ? Or is the goal to build something decent that may not beat the competition "heads up" but is more durable/consistent ? Seems to be some conflicting goals.
Which is a tuning shop more likely to sponsor/donate towards ? An ugly slapped-together 10 sec POS that falls apart after run #3 or a smooth 11 sec full interior recent-body style car that can bring in business to his shop ?
Driver skill is certainly something to consider, but this project would also benefit from a skilled/experienced negotiator who knows both sides of the Suby/Mitsu rivalry. As was pointed out above, the guy who wins isnt always the fastest, its the better B.S er/negotiator

Just because people think it's a great idea doesn't mean ****... they're not going to be directly involved anyway. The idea behind this is MUCH more complicated than what usually goes on Pinks (a shop built car). If you don't have vendor/tuner/race shop support, it won't fly PERIOD.
