Wasn't sure what you were talking about :)

These hoods will be offered in REAL carbon fiber we are going to use a fiber glass frame for them so they don't cost $1000 + shipping they will be $900 +100 shipping for carbon fiber (REAL) and $900 + $100 shipping for fiber glass.

The ETA is 30 days or less for fiber glass! If you want to place your pre-order to have one of the first out the door you can place your pre-order now!

The carbon fiber will be a couple weeks behind that so check back here for more updates on that ETA!

Carbon fiber hoods will be clear coated as well for longevity we will offer them with pearl clear coats at no extra cost! This means if you want a blue tinted clear coat you got it or red or yellow etc.

Pre-orders will be 50% down and 50% + shipping of $100 when the order is ready to go out!

If you have any questions you can e-mail [email protected] or call us anytime :) 11am to 9pm EST

Talk to everyone soon,
Nick

P.S. Forgot to mention that we will be able to have the fiber glass hoods color matched to your vehicle as well! So no worries in having to get them painted to match bolt them on and go!

The price of the color matching will be anounced a little later.

You may call 321-377-0841 to place your order or you can PayPal your deposit to [email protected]

Please remember if you PayPal the deposit to include all of your contact information especially your phone #.

Re: Just curious...

how much will this hood weigh? will it be PURE carbon front to back not one sheet of carbon over fiberglass? i know that the pkzero hoods will be PURE carbon all through and are only 950 plus shipping not 1000 plus shipping...which means for a little more cash you could get a PURE 8lb hood made of carbon

The hoods will be ALL CARBON Fiber with fiber glass frame not a fiber glass base then carbon fiber laid over it. Also to answer the earlier question the carbon fiber version of the hood will be vacuum bagged :)

I hope that clears things up :)

Weight will be announced once the first one is produced the mold will be ready this week and the first prototypes next week baring any complications that is why we have set the ETA for 30 days.

I would guess its like the stock frame under the hood. Maybe not as huge and heavy, but I'd rather have any light frame and a decent price than a whole CF hood that is priced for the rich bastard :)

Why would someone want to pay a fortune just to say they have a "whole, 100% CF hood"? I have yet to see how a 100% CF hood when compared to a CF top and FG frame will: a. make it look any better when painted. b. get the chicks to notice your ride more c. get the other tuners to notice your ride more. d. get you any more tenths than any other 2lb weight reduction mod. e. look any better when un-painted as well.

Do people really subtract that many style points when they find out it has a FG frame with a real CF top? If so I'll take the hit and spend the extra $$$ on more bling bling elsewhere to make it up and then some (like a touchscreen control setup for $300)... just my .02 (which is on sale for .01)

I'll take mine painted thank you, then it doesn't matter one bit what its made of :) That Prova hood just looks sweet! In about 30 days expect an order from me if you meet your price point at 900 shipped.

What is a fiber glass frame?

If you open your hood you will notice it's not 1 piece. It's two pieces put together. This hood will be the same design only difference is that the top piece will be all carbon fiber not carbon fiber mesh over fiberglass and the bottom "frame" which is the second mold will be Fiber glass.

I don't know for sure but I would believe even the PKZero hoods would have this design because of the intricate design of the frame.

Oh boy, oh boy!! I am extra happy to hear about the tinted clear coats over the carbon hoods.

Nick, get that first carbon hood to come off the line ready for a blue tinted clear to match my WRBP wagon. Will you have any sample pics of carbon after a tinted clear has been sprayed? Just to be sure we're on the same page in regards to the level of color in the tint. I don't want too much blue that it's difficult to see the weave.

[rubs hands together][evil laugh]....can't wait, cant' wait...[/evil laugh][/rubs hands together]

Later,
Nick

P.S. any word on the CF surround for the instrument cluster that holds the 2 aftermarket gauges?
Snow Rally 10-20-2002 02:23 AM

I can't wait to see the final products from both parties. It's good that we have generated some friendly competition. IMHO it's worth going with new technology and 100% carbon for a couple hundred more.
Snow Rally 10-20-2002 02:26 AM

I challenge Nick and Kevin to do a comparison of their finished products and post the results.

We have the mold done as well as we have done the first test piece we should be able to start production here in the coming week or so and I think you will all be happy :) I will post pictures of the finished product very soon :)

I'm embarassed. One of those is obviously the radiator. The other one looks like an oil cooler.

EDIT: That's not the picture that goes along with my discription of twin intercoolers. Prova's twin turbo Legacy has twin intercoolers. That picture is their Impreza race car.

oops, sorry about that. didn't realize you were referring to the b4. i dont know where the intercooler is in the pic i posted. to me it looks like one isnt even installed yet. however, i do remember seeing pics of their engine bay with the intake manifold polished and reversed with a fmic. i know the zerosports car has the intake manifold reversed and runs a fmic but i'm pretty sure the pic i'm thinking of was of the prova car.

no need to apoligize

I'm sorry too. I can't find the picture of the B4. It's really awesome.

NEW NEWS!

OK here is where we are at with the hood. I know it's been a while and this is the first you have heard from me about this in a while :)

Well we are going into production and will have the Fiberglass available first as we are waiting on the Carbon fiber to come in.

I need to know how many are interested in the Fiber glass version of this hood first. If you are interested in the carbon fiber version I am interested as well just so you know it may be about 3 weeks before they go into production maybe a little less.

The Fiber glass hoods will be shipping in limited production until we get to full steem this will be about 1 hood every 3-4 days. So please understand that if we get flooded with orders we may not be able to keep up :) and wait times may increase a little. This will only be for a short time however until we get more molds up and running.

Current pricing on the fiber glass will be $900 + Shipping
Shipping prices are as follows $110 to a business and $140 to a residence.

Talk to you all soon,
Nick

You can e-mail [email protected] and I will contact you with ordering info when the Carbon fiber is ready to ship and get you pricing at the same time :) Of course I will post it here as well.

If you have any questions that can't be answered here call me at 321-377-0841

We are making a diverter that will be sit in the scoop and be a part of the hood as well as possibly being able to use the old diverter or aftermarket splitters.

Was this done by eye...dont get me wrong looks like it fits good but doesnt look like the original, There are details that seem that are missing, maybe I cant seem them with the lighting but just doesnt look....right. Can you post some other pics so we can judge from different angle's ?
Matty 12-19-2002 12:41 PM

WRXTuner...couple of ??

Will I be OK with a top mount ?? Could I go to a larger top mount ?? MRT or STi...I'm sure this was answered before..but there are pages of posts..The car in your last pic has Oregon plates...yet your in Orlando...are these being produced in Oregon ??? great if they are..thats where I am..I'm defrinatly in the market for your product...looks great..
p.s. Is the front vent over the battery ?? will that be a problem ? the right side looks like it might be over my Rampod intake ...problem there ??

It deffinetly looks as if it was done by eye. The mold looks like it might have been made out of plywood or something. It just seems to angular.

Ya so far between the 2 prototypes -- PKzero's 100% baked carbon fiber hood and this one, seems like pkzero actually had the hood to mold off of and this was done by eye....hopefully its just the lighting.... the original looks super smooth and the main scoop has a "reach" towards the front...look at the original on page 1 how the hoods main scoop still has those defined LINES going towards the front....this mold doesnt have it....Unfortunatly at this time I would have to say I do not like it....

WRXTuner: Prove us wrong !! ;) So us some other pics...
1WRX2NV 12-19-2002 05:28 PM

I was thinking....even if it's NOT JUST LIKE the original, it is still a good looking design. As long as the finish product has CLEAN lines and durable (good CF), and done right.....it's gonna look sweet. It's still racey. The price is reasonalbe too!

Do I get a discount now?? j/k. I'm gonna get this hood.

-freddie
I understand what you mean 100%, but why would you pay ~800 for a hood thats NOT JUST LIKE the original ? You know what I mean ? and on top of that I think there still using a fiberglass frame when PKzero's is 100% baked carbon fiber (best method for doing CF)

So im looking at it like this -- I love the original which is why I wanted the replica -- and I rather pay perhaps 100-200 more for one that I know looks identical in every way to the original and is much higher quality...Like I said these guys seem honest and perhaps its just the picture, hopefully we can see more soon.
1WRX2NV 12-20-2002 12:58 AM

I hear what your saying.....I guess it's all in what you like and want. I, for some reason, don't like the other hood your talking about...but I DO like this style. Thats just me.

I meen the Pkzero hood. Thats the one that is second on the list
The prova Replica is #1 on my list. If someone had the original for the same price as the replica, well then...I would go for that.

-freddie
1WRX2NV 12-20-2002 01:43 AM

Acutally, I take that back...2nd on the list would be a CF stock, then the CF with sti scoop, then CF RS (sleeper) THEN the pkzero....

The hood was digitized and then the mold was created by a $1,000,000 computerized CNC machine, not hand made and not done by eye.

The hood you see above hasn't been sanded, polished or cleared. It still has the releasing agent on it and when it's all done I will get you the pictures :)

The fitment on the hood is better then stock and will have the ability to put the factory diverter in it as well we are working on making out own diverter kind of like the zero sports one molded into the scoop.

Talk to you all soon,
Nick
1WRX2NV 12-20-2002 03:13 AM

Nick,

There are concerns that the "original" scoop "reaches" out more...compare the first pic on this thread to the pic you posted. Thats what they are looking at.

-freddie
WRXTuner 12-28-2002 12:56 AM

I see what you mean...

I know what people are saying about the differences, this hood is not a Prova! it is a redesign of the Prova design($3000+). The scoop on this hood is bigger then the prova and more efficient for a top mount intercooler and will work GREAT with a front mount because of the ability to remove hot air from the front of the engine compartment and allow better flow from the front of the car.

The opening is also going to have a built in intercooler splitter do divert the air more evenly into the intercooler or over the top of the engine.

This hood will not only be incredibly good looking it will be functional in many ways, as well as more efficient.

Have a GREAT and SAFE New Year!

Nick

Fiberglass!

The fiberglass hoods will be shipping in 2 weeks please call to reserve yours now!

You may call and leave all your info and a small deposit to reserve your hood now.

The hoods now have a removable intercooler splitter that comes in two forms, one for the stock intercooler and the other for the TurboXS top mount intercooler!

I will have more pictures up later this week for all to see!

Have a good one!

Page 4 has some pricing on Fiber Glass and info on CF :)

-freddie
WRXTuner 01-13-2003 11:49 AM

Pricing :)

Sorry about that I meant to put the pricing :)

The price is going to be the same for both fiberglass and carbon fiber since the material cost is not that much different for us.

The labor is where all the money comes in since these hoods are much more technical then the stock hood.

Pricing on the hoods will be $900 + $125 for shipping.

So far the general reaction from a customer that has test fitted the hood was " Don't take it off I don't care if it's not finished you can't have it back!"

The fitment is better then stock!

Talk to everyone soon,
Nick
