prosport gauges? part 16

Prosport Gauges 10-20-2008 12:07 AM

Glad to hear we are doing our job. Thank you all for your feedback.
JDMbyBlood 11-09-2008 08:22 PM

When using the prosport oil pressure gauge, is it better going with the oil filter adapter plate. (I think that's what its called.) or the oil galley plug? Cons and pros to both? I know the plate is like $40.00 while the plug is like $12.00. Where does the oil galley plug install at? I think I read it goes somewhere under the Alternator?
Thanks....

oil filter adapter plate will not fit on the 06-07's :[
oil filter adapter plate will not fit on the 06-07's :[
I got a sadwich adapter plate from their site and it worked on MY07 STI
JDMbyBlood 11-09-2008 11:08 PM

How hard is it to install the oil galley plug if I go that route?

Anyone else have the LEDs start to die in their gauges? My boost gauge had two corners (180 degrees apart) go out about 2 weeks before the 1 year mark since I bought mine and didn't bother with it since it wasn't too bad.. now 3 months later (1 year + 2 1/2 months after buying them) all four of my gauges have dead LEDs. So far only the white ones have gone out, the green ones are still all there but I do have them set to white in the daytime so they're on white 90% of the time when I drive. Makes it hard to read the gauges in the daytime :sadbanana:

Ryan - can anything be done to fix this short of buying all new gauges?
ryan_west06 11-10-2008 09:57 AM

Dan- this is very strange, and a first for me. Can you send the gauges into me so i can test them for you. I know your past your 1 year mark but ill be happy to work with you :)
AlxSti 11-10-2008 10:02 AM

just a quick question for those of you who mounted a premium series single gauge on your sterring column. where specifically did you wire the orange wire??

from what i remember (i installed mine over a year ago) i have wires going to the headlight switch and one to the clock. the way i wired it.. my gauge shuts down if i turn off the headlights or when i flick on the highs. i wanted it red with the lights on and white with the lights off. i leave my hids on all the time so its not a big deal.. but id still like to have it wired correctly.
ryan_west06 11-10-2008 02:22 PM

here is a little video i made for you guys :) on installing

more love for my prosport mechanical boost gauge.

reflashed the car this weekend and datalogged aswell. The gauge was dead nuts with the ecu on boost pressure.
SubieWReX 11-25-2008 10:31 PM

Great boost gauge, but the high pitched beep in the opening ceremony is a bit much
ryan_west06 11-26-2008 09:23 AM

you know you can turn the beeping off :)
Jncominco2 11-26-2008 10:14 AM

i have a q ryan
im thinking of buying a little combo pack from import image on here that includes 3 gauges and an ATI pod
since its going through another vendor, do you guys still warranty it?
Chino Bling 11-26-2008 10:31 AM

i've got the 52mm white/green premium boost. and the regular oil psi and oil temp. all of my gages stopped working or are not working properly. my boost gauge reads irratically occasionally(needle jumps around in boost even if i'm in vaccum), as well as being way off. it'll say i'm at 29psi when it should really read 21psi. the oil pressure NEVER reads below 50psi. and the oil temp gage stopped lighting up and reading anything altogether. all of this in less than 1 year. needless to say, i'm shopping around for some new gages that i can depend on.

and before anyone says it...yes, i installed them properly.

just my .02
joeyd02 11-26-2008 10:47 AM

+ 1 ^^^ Well only 2 months after installing the only one that worked right is the boost. The boost still works though nd the only one I worry about. My EGT probe fell apart and my oil pressure just quit on me.

My new premium boost gauge does this too. Under light or no load it will bounce around over 20 psi. Any ideas Ryan?

Well Ryan they were bought and installed over a year ago so no more warranty. I didnt have the time, due to me deploying shortly after, to deal with warranty so I had to rig the EGT probe to stay for the time being. It will be a few months untl I see my car again. The Oil pressure gauge stopped working so I replaced the sending unit and it worked for a week then quit again. I know alot of people have had success with these and my friend has yet to install his gauges in his RS.

+1 Prosport's customer service is truly awesome. The old adage you get what you pay for is partially true, but you can't put a price on excellent customer relations. Keep up the good work guys!

Ryan,
Cool deal. I will try and get someone to send them in for me, but I can't promise that since my car is in storage. Otherwise I will send them in April once I finish my deployment.

Wheres this new wideband at?? Whats the deal with it?? Is this just as good as the innovative lc-1, or other widebands?? Any pros or cons to getting this wideband compared to others?? Thanks Jeff
CynicX 11-29-2008 10:36 AM

My prosport oil pressure gauge doesnt do a full sweep at start up. The EGT and Boost do, but oil pressure goes right to 100ish and monitors without the full sweep....

Its not a big deal for me, and as long as it monitors actual oil pressure I dont plan on replacing it. Just wanted to let you know, maybe this is supposed to be like this or a common problem...

Hmm, id have to test the gauge to see if its defective. did this randomly start? was it like this when you first got it?
plmrass 11-30-2008 09:01 AM

Will the wideband be made only in a blue readout?? Is there a way to change the colors or will you be making others?? Thanks Jeff
tsispyder97 11-30-2008 04:46 PM

bad juju

went through 3 boost gauges til i settled on one that kinda reads zero
2 boost sensors
3 temp sensors

all in like 6 months

i sold em and bought defis
ryan_west06 12-01-2008 09:15 AM

The wideband will only be in blue digital readout as of right now.

Sorry you had problems with us. I cant imagine going through this many senders.
spaceywilly 12-02-2008 09:03 PM

I got a green/white mechanical boost gauge (non premium) and I'm really happy with it so far. One issue though, I think might be because of the way I wired it, but if I have my headlights on when I turn the car on the gauge will be white and it won't turn green unless I shut the car off again and start it with the headlights off, then turn the headlights on once the guage is on. As long as I turn the headlights off every time I turn the car off it works fine... could it be because I wired the gauge into the clock? I noticed the gauge turns on in the ACC position, but the rest of the gauge cluster doesn't come on until it's in the ON position...
JSA 12-02-2008 09:28 PM

if you guys make an analog wideband...i would buy in a heart beat. I've had my prosports for 6 months...and not a single problem :)
96accord 12-02-2008 09:42 PM

My "T" adapter was bad out of the box. Bought the gauge Summer '07 and installed in Summer '08 (this yr) and when I installed the gauge it sounded like I had a flutter... Come to find out it was a bad "T" adapter.

See in the picture how the toothpick would not go through?

A++

yup i have these gauges in my 240sx they work great and have never given me a problem
05Scooby 12-02-2008 11:02 PM

I've got a full set on the a pillar, green to match my gauge cluster,
1 thing I will warn you about with these gauges, they are very bright at night. I even left the lens protective cover on to try and diminish the brightness a little... I have Oil pressure, with the prosport remote mount kit, Boost (Electrical) and egt and I love em...

 yes... it's because your car is off, so to the gauge, your oil pressure looks like it's 0psi which is exactly a time when you want the warning to be going off

Are you saying your boost levels are off by 2 pis?

What is your oil pressure showing at a warm idle?

ryan
evoeater8 12-05-2008 09:41 AM

my boost gauge works perfect.... the peak and hold everything.. i'll be buying the oil pressure and egt real soon. My gauge is dead on 19.5 lbs of boost.

my only complaint is the screaching beep when it turns on.... i'd change that.. to a much lower comfirming beep.

but i like how you can just turn it off..LOL
Prosport Gauges 12-05-2008 09:43 AM

Here is how you turn the beeping off:

With the car off/engine off. Press and hold the button. Turn the car on and continue holding the button untill the opening ceremony is complete. Release button. no more beeping :) Repeat to turn back on.
