Oh man, this is horrible news, I just want to cry. I remember watching Richard race and more than any other thing, he's the reason I love Rally racing and own a Subaru. Earlier this year I'd PM'd Jamie about him, I hadn't realized his illness was so bad, I fully expected him to return one day to claim yet another championship. When she gave me the bad news my heart sunk, and now this.
Richard - you will be greatly missed, Rest In Peace my friend.

Just wanted to say how sad this is. Burns was the one who peaked my interest in Subaru and racing...he will be forever remembered on race tracks and special stages everywhere...have fun flicking that tail around in heaven...:(

I just read about this a few minutes ago...I am really shocked and saddened by the loss of a great driver and champion. I would be proud to put a tribute sticker on all my cars. Truly a sad day for the motorsports community.

Actually, what he really said to Robert was "You're the best in the World", the in car audio equipment only picked up "best in the World" and everyone has misquoted him ever since.
He actually laments ever saying it to Robert since it was so badly turned against him, even though Robert even explained what was said, there's a whole page in his book dedicated to how much he regrets that line said to Robert.
