Hey! I got an idea, how about nobody worry about what anyone else thinks and then you do what you want. I don't do anything on my car because of what people think. I do it for what "I" think. If they have a problem with it and feel like saying something, I will flat out smack em. Anyone else that sits there and worries about what other people think is nothing more than a sellout. The only STI badges on my car are from my v7 jdm grille and authentic sti carbon fiber sidemarkers. They are nowhere else on the car. I think the lowest form of imperzinating <--pardon my pun, is putting the sti badge on the trunk. Again, thats my opinion and none of you should care. Just listen to yourself!
Hi guys.
Im new here but i just bought a 07 WRX and have been readin this post.
Try to look at it this way. You have nissan right? then you have nismo. Nismo tunes cars for nissan, and makes parts for them. There are versions of nissans that are tuned by nismo and have nismo logos on them(some sentras have them and there are Nismo 350Z's as well as Skylines). Now with Subaru, thier division is STI. Same applies. STI is not really a car its a WRX that has been tuned by Subarus performance division. For example if you take the name STI and say it out, it wouldnt make sense. Cause no one would say "hey look at that new 2007 Subaru Technica Institute!" Its more like its a WRX that has a badge showing the company that tuned it and manufactured alot of the parts in it. So if a wrx (which is what a STi IS, a WRX STI) uses the STi emblem it has every right to especially if it has alot of STi parts in it. PERSONALLY i would put it on only after installing alot of STi parts. But frankly what i think would be AWESOME, Is if us WRX owners could get us some of the "tuned by STI" badges that they have in australia or whatever. Cause that would be more "technically acurate".
just my 2 cents.
The "i" in STi stands for international, not institute.

I have the STi logo on my jdm grill and foglight covers. I've had these parts on my bugeye before the STi even came to the states. So should I remove the logos just so that some people won't think I'm a poser? Honestly, I could care less. I like the way it looks, and I like the fact that I have STi parts on my car.

THERE ARE A LOT OF UNEDUCATED INDIVIDUALS PARTICIPATING IN THIS THREAD (and I am not talking about the guy that I corrected about what STi stands for).
There is no stupidity in putting an STi sticker/badge on your vehicle so long as you have at least 1 part that is STi exclusive. Obviously the more, the better, and the more worthy you become of that badge. I am sorry, but if you think that an STI badge on a WRX wagon or a 2.5RS with a STI shift knob, lateral links, springs, exhaust, or other STI part is stupid, I am left with no other option but to call you stupid. It is the owners car and I will support their decision to put a badge on their car so long as they meet my personal requirements and these outght be the requirements of everyone else. Remember, as I stated before the STi is not only a trim level, but also a performance division.
I will not support those that puts it on there with the wrong intentions. I don't support fakers.
This ought to be the end all of this thread granted that people are badging their cars with the proper intentions and with due reason.

I have a 2006 STI, which I debadged. Except for the trunk and front badges. Does anybody know who manufactures custom badges so I can have the STI badges replaced?
| gingertooth | 02-28-2007 03:17 PM |
i think it is the dumbest thing in the world to have sti badges on a car that isn't an sti. if you don't have every part of the sti in your wrx no matter what it is obvoiusly it ain't an sti then. there are so many parts on an sti that the wrx doesn't have. many. unless you have a complete sti swap and i mean everything, then you don't deserve to have sti written on your car. period. makes now sense whatsoever!!! an sti=an sti
an wrx/sti badges=gayman wit wrx
and i voted to pee in steph's butt too! sounds like it would be fun.

Regardless of what some poll says, I'm going to continue to make fun of people who badge their WRX and RS with STi emblems. It's tacky, it's fake, and at the end of the day it's not different than sewing "Levis" tags onto your Kirkland brand jeans.

oh my god this is f'n rediculous, on one hand we have the sti owners, who don't want their beloved vehicles tarnished and bash the sti badged wrx's just so they can keep in mind that they are the l33ts with the fat wallets. then we have the average rex owner who probably couldnt afford the sti, so he puts a few sti parts on it to give him that sweet sports car owner feeling and by god as his witness he does it. he puts the little sti badge on his trunk, takes a picture and gets pwned by everyone at nasioc who finds the tiniest clues to hint that "they didnt make the sti in that year" or "there aint no sti spray painted on that tmic".
-to the sti owners, you guys have great cars, but you dont have to rub it in everyones face who doesnt have one or couldnt afford one.
-to the vaj badged wrx's, keep the stickers off your car unless youve got the numbers to back it up
sorry about the rant

Not a major proponent of this considering I am an STI guy who took all STI banners:p off except for the fr/rr STI badges.
Not all about show its about the Go.
I beleive if it is an STI it is worthy of the badges.
If it is a WRX/RS that even has better parts and is truthfully BETTER (subjective of course) than what Subaru dubs an "STI", than you should be more proud of your creation as something that rivals an STI.
At the end of the day the purists will always say it aint an STI unless it came that way.
I say who cares, at the end of the day it is your car and who gives a ****e what others think..they aint making your car payments are they?

Several ways. The least damaging and thus most safe is to boil a lot of water and then pour it over the emblem. Usually the letters will just fall off with this method. Another, slightly more dangerous method is to use a heat gun or hairdryer to loosen the badges, then grab some dental floss and work it between the badge and the paint. Any excess can be removed with Goo Gone or nail polish remover, though these are very dangerous to leave on the surface of your paint for ANY extended duration. Rinse liberally with water. Afterwards, give it a few good coats of wax to even it out...otherwise you'll still see "S U B A R U" on your trunk in the right light. Hope this helps.
*Edit* - oh yea, if you live in the right place you can just wait until a really hot day. You're in New York, though, so I don't think that's an option.

Oh my god is this still being debated? Jeezus people, it's YOUR car (or your parents in some cases  ) Do whatever you want to it. Badge it with any and everything you can find for all we care. No matter what you do to your car there will be people who like it and people who hate it. If you don't want people to not like something on your car, don't post pics/brag about it on an internet forum because it's going to happen regardless of what you do. What matters is if you like it, do it, if you don't like it, don't. Problem solved!

Keep um! I have to agree with a few posts up. I have an 03 bugeye, and I have the foglight covers emblazoned with STi on the front, and I have the STi emblem on the trunk. I have a Spec C RA decal under it, so I probably win for having the ricest decals. But I do have STi parts on the car, and I have Spec C RA fourway adjustable suspension o nthe car, so I think that justifys both the emblems.
If I had a 04 and up WRX, I wouldnt put the emblems on it, but most people know they didnt make a bugeye STi.
Even if he doesnt have the go, I think that looks hot enough to keep the badging!!!

Not really the appropriate place to post this; however I'll help you out.
You should know this first though: it will leave 2 penny sized holes in your trunk when you get it out.
Heres what you do to remove it(I did this when I painted it):
Get a long flathead screwdriver, then open your trunk, make sure you have plenty of light and can see the metal work in detail. Look under the trunk and you will see painted metal and some crap that will block your view from seeing any kind of hint to where your emblem is on the trunk, HOWEVER, angle your head and look through the holes until you can see a little bit of and feel where the emblem is attached. Once youve found it, you will notice that whats holding it in is actually just "plugs" not screws or something, that hold it in more snugly with glue. FIND a way to get your screwdriver up through the metal blocking it (there is a way, iirc there is a hole or two you manuever pretty easily through to the "plugs". NOW, stick the screwdriver in one of the holes in the back of the emblem; now its time to man-up and stabilize the trunk with one arm and with the other holding the screwdriver, push up as hard as you can; you should see the emblem start to move a little; your going to need to push pretty ******* hard, but eventually you will pry the emblem off and see the screwdriver come through the back of the trunk with the emblem on the it and from that point, grab the emblem and just pull the other "half" of it off. You will be left with residue where the emblem was, and two holes. Do whatever you want from there. :disco:

Not really the appropriate place to post this; however I'll help you out.
You should know this first though: it will leave 2 penny sized holes in your trunk when you get it out.
Heres what you do to remove it(I did this when I painted it):

Old, dead horse threads should be left unbeaten.
If someone wants to put an STi badge on their WRX or 2.5i, go for it. Same goes for those guys who want ///M badges on their 318i's and SVT badges on their V6 Mustangs. If that badge makes them feel better about their car, I say go for it; just expect to see a lot of tail lights from people who want to test you. It's your money spend it how you like to.
