I'd imagine the same thing that makes it buzz for some people who put the 05 usdm into a car previously before that. I think the answer is in here somewhere so read the whole thread. Might just have to ground out a wire.
Re-read the entire thread, seems like everyone got rid of the buzzing by cutting that orange/white wire. If anyone can help me out that would be great because it's annoying as **** driving with that constant buzzing haha.

Then my guess is that you would have to ground it if it's not working but I can't say since I bought an 04' sti cluster for my 04' wrx wiring. Hopefully someone has the answer for you.

Ok, well thanks for the help anyway. I've been searching all over and haven't found anything about a similar problem. Seems strange but hopefully someone has an idea.
Hey guys, quick question here. I'm trying to swap a 05 JDM STI cluster into my 03 WRX. I've followed the write up exactly and everything works as it should but my question is about the loud buzzing noise that won't stop. I have already cut the orange/white wire on the right hand side connector but it still makes the buzzing noise. Does anyone know what might be the cause of this?
Thanks.
There are two wires that need to be cut. You got the Radio wire (orange/white) to prevent that fuse from blowing. You gotta get the Yellow/Green wire on the center connector. Here it is:
sorry for the poor photo but that'll give you a round about idea of where it is. Good Luck!

Ya, I cut both those wires already. I followed everything exactly how it says in the how-to on the first page. One thing I did notice is now at night my interior dash lights are not on like the HVAC controls and stuff. Just out of curiousity, I'm going to reconnect the orange/white wire tomorrow to see if that does anything.

EDIT:
Try grounding the Orange/White wire...if not that then maybe you cut A2 instead of A9? Though I doubt it.

Also, can we install the JDM gauge cluster without much hassle?

Jdm v7 plug and play

I had the opposite with mine. They stay 100% bright at all time. Can't use the dimmer on them.

^lol that isn't even worth $50.
A JDM V7 cluster has the same pin-out (exception being DCCD pins) as USDM 02 WRX (its the same car essentially). So should be just plug and play. The Early 04 USDM STi are V7 type iirc as well. Japan changed the body style mid-2003. No auto HVAC.
if you're looking for a JDM V7 cluster just type in: STi version 7 -into the search bar in ebay and quite a few will pop up

I don't have auto HVAC anyway and it's going into an 04. I think I'm gonna give it a shot anyway.

Ok, so I tried grounding the orange/white wire coming from the cluster and that only made the buzzing louder. Also tried to reconnect the orange/white wire and that also made the buzzing louder. Has anyone installed a 05 JDM STI cluster in and 02 or 03? I may just pull the buzzer out if it comes down to it.

Hey, sorry I didnt take any pictures. If you take the white back piece off the cluster so you can get to the circuit board, the buzzer is the little round beige piece in the bottom left corner. Has a number like BZ251 or something beside it on the circuit board.

That light will stay on if the brake fluid is low.

I just put a 06' cluster in & the fuel gauge reads about 3/5 full when the tank is nearly full (14 miles on it). WTFFFFFFFFFFFFFF
Hoping it magically fixes itself.
Also, does the fuel light still work on your guys cars with the cluster? I don't care if the readings are whack but I want to at least know when I'm close to E. Going by mileage on my car isn't that safe since I will drive all-city one tank & all-highway the next & get 18-31mpg depending on the situation.

basically, would i be better off getting the v7 or the v8 jdm cluster? both of which come with the red lights, not the v7 that is pretty much the same as the usdm one.
