Updated Jan 10, 2005
hey guys, i just got the lip installed. See below for pictures. Here is what we have so far. Overall it's good, just slight modification we have to do for the production run.
1. The sample lip doesn't come with pre-drilled holes. We have to drill several holes on the lip. Of course this will not be the case for the production run. We will have pre-drilled holes on the lip.
2. Yes you will need the STI bumper splitter for the lip to work. See picture for reason why.
3. We will need longer bolts for the lip because the stock bolts are too short. We will supply these bolts.
4. After installing the lip, we found just a very slight gap at the center of the lip. It was easily taken care of the use of double sided taped. Here are some options. Please give us advise on what do you guys prefer.
I. Provide double side tap for the lip just like the v-limited lip.
I. Drill extra hole on the lip for those who doesn't mind drilling hole on the stock bumper.
III. Provide both double sided tap and extra pre-drilled holes.
(**** This is after we use the stock mounting holes (3 of them) on the stock bumper and feel that we need more mounting points beside the stock three mounting points. ****)
5. We check the v-limited lip that we have with one of our customer, he also have to use double side tap on the v-limited lip to get rid of the small gap.
6. For those who wants more picture, please click on the link on top of the list. It will take you to our website. On the upper right hand corner, there are links to some pictures. Or if you need more detail pictures, please email us at [emailprotected]
7. Overall the lip fit perfectly. Not much modification needed. Installation take about 15 min. The carbon pattern are well layed, the mounting support are right on the spot. The slot to slide in the bumper splitter match perfectly !!! See pictures. We are happy with the lip and we are sure you guys will be happy with the lip once you see it.
Updated Jan 11, 2005
Hi guys, again we really appreciate your help and support on this GB.
We have decided to make two shipments of the lip. First shipment of the lip will leave in 2 to 3 weeks. I have make the deadline of the deposit for the lip to be Jan 14, 2005. Whoever paid by Jan 14 will receive the lip from the first shipment. The second shipment will leave about 2 weeks after the first shipment. Please make your decision and let us know. Those who want to back out, please make sure you contact me !!!
Updated Jan 11, 2005
The current box size is 24" x 5" x 68". I got a shipping quote from both Fedex and UPS to be around $65 shipped. That's mean any room I have to lower the price for the lip has been taken away due to the high shipping cost from New York to you guys. I will try to work out some deal with Fedex and UPS, but I doubt I will get any cheaper. Unless anyone have connection for shipping that they can recommend me.
So, $299 shipped is the lowest we can do right now. Also keep in mind that we might have to ship the lips air freight from Asia to U.S. to meet the delivery dead line. We might end up losing money on this GB :-?
So, for those who are still deciding, you have till Jan 14 to make a decision and after that, you will have to wait till the second shipment which have a deadline of Jan 31 to send in the deposit. I will be available to answer any questions regarding the GB any time this week. You can call us or email us. TEL: 718-358-6102 / [emailprotected]

We have closed the GB deposit for the 1st shipment of the lip. However, 2nd shipment GB still open. We are cutting the 2nd shipment to be at 40 pieces. We only have 80 pieces in both shipment combined. So if you are on the list, please make sure you pay the deposit otherwise we will have to take you off the list and make room for others. Thankx guys.
Updated 1/18/05
We have temporary closed the link for deposit due to the overwhelming request for the lip. We have another meeting with the factory over the weekend and here is what going to happen.
1. Due to the changes we requested on the lip, the factory have to re-make the mold of the lip (comes with pre-drill hole), because of that the production schedule has been push back.
2. The first shipment will be finish on Feb 5th. But only 20 pieces will be available for this shipment.
3. Another 20 pieces will be finish on Feb 26th due to two weeks vocation from the factory.
4. The last 40 pieces won't be done till end of March.
We have collected 45 deposits for the lip. I can only supply the first shipment of the lip to the first 20 people that hand in the deposit. I am really really sorry for doing this to you guys. I can't meet terms stated on the GB list therefore i will offer full refund to those who want to back out.
The rest that still choose to stay in, i will give you extra 5% off for the lip which will be $285.
Again, I would like to apologize for not being able to meet the terms. Later today I will put the name of the people who will be getting the first 20 lips.
Those that will be receiving the first 20 lips will see the word "confirmed" next to their name.
Updated 1/20/05

After seeing a couple other versions of that lip in CF I am definately hooked. But the other prices have been rather steep. Even the original V-Limited lip was beyond what I am willing to pay for a lip spoiler right now. But if you can get this one under $400 I think you might do pretty well. My advice is to start out with an insane GB deal to generate interest. How about a close up pick to see the quality of the weave as well though?

Wow! You're going to offer a carbon fiber V Limited replica for under $400? If the quality is any good, I'm sure you will sell quite a few.
| Fhqwhgads | 12-21-2004 03:07 PM |
Carbon fiber, good quality, less than 400 would sell like hotcakes... especially if it smelled like hotcakes ;)

I am way interested. Consider me 90% commited. I hope pricing can be near what the STi V1 replica in CF goes for...but anything under $400 is pretty reasonable.

i kinda agree with monopoly. even though the price at less than 400 is decent, it still makes it really hard for someone like myself to justify paying 400 for such a small piece. i think less than 300 for CF is a bit better ballpark.
Also, i dont know how possible it is, but if you could make a plastic black replica for 100-150, i think that would be a really big seller as well, for all the people who want the V-limited look, but dont want to pay the v-limited pricetag.
i'd also be happy to testfit one on my car for you when you make them! =P

I do have a source for just a plastic replica, but price is almost the same with carbon fiber. Why bother.

i agree its expensive , i had the TRU V-limited Lip once and it was perfect! till the curb ate it =-( i would be interested in this piece esp in CF now, but the price has really got to go down $350 at the most, for now i will be running with Cusco lip though =-)

yes we are putting together a group buy soon. Hope to get below $300 if enough people join. Stay tunned !!!

what kind of build is the lip itself? ABS? FRP? how about the process of the CF? will it be close to autoclave? reasoni ask is that the TRU Lip share those simliarities... as long as fitment is flawless and it can take somewhat of a beating then i am definetly in, i dont mind buying this alongside my cusco lip...
(sometimes i may change setups and its nice to have the parts there yah know?) hehehe

| RavSpec | 12-22-2004 12:30 PM |
hyp364max:
When you say autoclave do you mean dry carbon fiber process ? If so, no this is not dry carbon fiber. It's hand lay carbon fiber meaning that it still uses a base fiber layer and then manually lay down the triple layers of carbon fiber.
Pricing for dry carbon fiber is way too high at this point. Advantage of dry carbon fiber is lighter and more uniform lay pattern. However many manufacture right now can make hand lay carbon fiber products with almost perfect pattern. The tricky part is to lay carbon fiber on curve surface.
I wouldn't worry about the carbon lay pattern on this product because there are only a few curve surface on the lip.
Fitment is flawless. Currently this lip is being make for Japanese market. Quality is a big concern for the Japanese market. If the Japanease market accepted this product, I don't think U.S. market will have problem with it. That's why we are considering importing this lip.

The other big question is what kind of shipping prices do you guys think you will see. I have heard shipping can be kinda stiff. If you can get it below $300 shipped then I will truly be forced into this purchase.

I'd be more interested in some sort of rubber type lip, since I'd be pretty pissed hitting the carbon fiber lip parking somewhere.
| Brahmzy | 12-22-2004 01:01 PM |
I'm so in for one $350.
| engineerx | 12-22-2004 02:36 PM |
Price around $300 - I'm in !
Just hope it's all CF and not just one layer of CF on top w/ fiberglass layers at the bottom... that would be dissapointing.....
the lip should be strong ince it will be kissing driveways on those of us w/ lowered cars...
damn... I'll need to install curb feelers....

offset: We will include the shipping into the total cost. It will be under $400 shipped and we are trying to make it under $300 shipped if enough people will join.
Golfa: Yes, of course, if the fitment is not good, we won't even consider it
mpower22: ehh, too much legal issues to deal with. I can send you the sticker if i have one personally, but not through business acct ;)

This is a hand lay carbon fiber product, there is one base fiber and then triple layers carbon fiber. Same type like Seibon, carbon image and VIS. They all use some layers of fiber and then layers of carbon fiber. There are full carbon fiber products out there, but price is way too high !!!

sorry for the dumb questions, but how come the plastic would cost the same as CF? isnt plastic way cheaper? personally, i like the way the matte black lip looks, thats why i would prefer it over CF.
also, shipped under 300 and consider me in. under 400, and i dont know if i could afford it. =/ keep us updated!

Kontradictions: We currently have one group buy running in NASIOC right now. Let me finish that group buy before I can start another one. Other options is start the group buy on another forum and link it or I can get Nick from NASIOC to let me post two group buy at once.
fasterhanrayswrx: I am trying to find out how many we need to get, in order to get it at $300 shipped.
RickDaTuner: Yes we can ship to Canada but extra shipping charge.
Thebing:
The source that I am getting the plastic replica from is not factory direct. They are only agent from the factory. The carbon fiber version, I will be buying it directly from the factory, therefore cutting out the middle man. :)
