After two years, a carbon fiber 22b wide body kit emerges. part 3

[emailprotected] 02-01-2004 01:44 AM

Keepin' my mileage low ... 20K when I parked it in the shop and probably 100 feet since then. The NYS reg. expired in '01 I think. Ooops.

I have a really good friend who just bought a shop that was a Ford dealer or something in North Bergen. He's a great guy and only does quality work. His old shop did the cage in my car.

I'm starting to wish I had built a GC STi instead of going the 04 WRX route...

You'd think after finishing the GC8 he'd go to the newer age bodies...to get a bunch of $$$. But ok :)
cudaeh 02-02-2004 11:56 PM

daddy likes daddy likes!!!!!
must have
*waving money in hand*
unfortunetly its only $20 :(
it will be mine. one day, oh yes, it will be mine.
balajc 02-03-2004 09:50 AM

I did read through the whole thread but I am a noob when it comes to bodykits and stuff...

1) so for a GC, I would now be able to get 17" wheels with 48 offset or more, drop the car down 1-1.5" or so and still be able to run 225/45/17 or wider (no rubbing the fender and no rubbing the struts)

2) I would keep the OEM hood, front bumper cover, rear bumper cover and I can just bolt the 4 fender pieces on (F & R, L & Right) onto the car?

I think 235 would be wide enough tire for me...there is only so much 165hp can do :) unless I go turbo or WRX swap
Kostamojen 02-03-2004 11:34 PM

235's would be underkill for this kit :p
kingston 02-04-2004 12:26 AM

When do you guys want me to drop off my wagon for measurements?

It's my 94 1.8/MT/sedan aka the 4-door wide body guinea pig.
Ozaukee 04-11-2004 05:10 PM

Sooo.... is this out yet? It looks good, but I'm really not a fan of the aluminum fuel door. Let us know if anything has changed. Thanks.

RS22b 04-11-2004 10:33 PM

Yes not really down with the al-u-min-ium gas door.

If we have to go with that fuel door do you mind sourcing out a place that will at least anodize them for us.

Black please.

Again i have been following you on this for the past 2 years or so that you have been doin it.

Steve,
What is the pricing on the kit again?
When will they be available?
Can i drop a deposit, or is there a long line?
Did ya find out a price on your freinds shop here in NJ?
22b bumpers and rockers, are made of what again?

Thanks again Steve. You are doin an amazing job on your car. Now that i have everything else set and ready togo, now comes the bodykit!!!

Aerosim Research Ltd 04-12-2004 01:43 AM

Hey Billy :)

Steve's finishing a up a car we have in the shop right now, so I'll answer what I can for him :)

The fuel doors will be available aluminum and black as standard, but custom colors will also be available.

The kit in full pre-preg carbon is priced at $3750 and the fiberglass kit will be $3000.

We're hoping to have the wide body 22b GC8 and a secret second project car done by SEMA (November 2004). Production pieces will be available a few months after that.

We will not take anybody's money until we have production pieces available. Period. :) (We appreciate those of you who want to put down payments to help fund the project, but at this moment, the best way to support Aerosim is by getting your other retail parts through us :))

I'll have Steve get back to you on the installation prices for the authorized east coast shop, and the 22b bumper materials. :)

Ozaukee 04-12-2004 02:53 AM

Oh, quick question regarding the completeness of the kit, are carbon doors included, or is this viewed as not crash-worthy enough? Also, do you have any completed pictures of the WRC style hood? Methinks I would like to get on a waiting list, hello 22B stylez. Thanks in advance. And that seems to be very fair pricing, thanks, I know I appreciate it!

Hi,

I've been reading these wide body threads for ages - I'm patient to have it done right, but I do have a question - long ago Steve mentioned that he would be working on a wagon kit - did that ever happen? will it ever happen?

Thanks.
WhozyerDADDY 04-12-2004 06:13 PM

Guess I should book my flight for Vegas in Nov. now. I gotta see what you guys are up to!!

Later,
Greg

November is just about right for me, I should have the motor all built and tuned by then hopefully.
dead-eye 04-13-2004 01:44 AM

stever,
I know the GC is of unibody construction and that removing the OEM rear fenders will weaken the chassis. However, the thought of having the CF fenders overlie the OEM fenders is just not appealing. Will your authorized installers attach the rear fenders as originally described (by cutting the OEM fenders off and epoxying the CF pieces)? Can we strengthen the rear portion of the chassis with a partial roll cage? A full rollcage would be overkill (and a sore point with the wife :) )
BongMan 04-25-2004 05:55 PM

Any word on the 4 door kit?

I'm interested in that. I'm not sure if you answered that already so my apologize if you did.

Thanks.

Thanks for all the quick offers to help me host guys.. :)

Right rear mold has been removed and will need a little work.

Front right mold has also been removed. Car's jacked up and moved to the right a little to make room to work on the left front mold.

Left front mold hasn't been started yet (probably be done middle of next week).. notice the smooth, shiny surface.

Safir 05-17-2004 10:24 PM

question - how wide is the "lip" on the wheel well going to be? will it be 1/2" - 3/4" like the stock fenders, or wider to reach the stock liners?

thanks for the pictures.

_trying to wait patiently_
adj789 05-18-2004 06:43 AM
