Atlanta ProSolo part 1

jcroy66 03-22-2005 10:43 AM

Atlanta ProSolo
I figured I'd start a thread to talk about the Atlanta Pro.

Who's going? Phil and I will be there. Phil will be in STX, facing off against Tunnell. Looks like I'll be battling Miranda, Karen, and the "other Tunnell" in L2. Woohoo, this should be fun!

Who else? I see KC listed in BS, Superman in CS, Joel in ESP, Corey in STS. I assume Tom is procrastinating registering for ESP? :D

I'm guessing we'll probably be heading out for dinner Friday and/or Saturday nights?

Question: does anyone mind if my folks tag along to dinner? (other than you, Phil, you don't have a choice!) They live in TN so rarely get to see Phil and I race. And they've never seen a ProSolo, so I'm glad they'll be able to come out and watch.
KC 03-22-2005 10:49 AM

That's cool your folks are coming to see. :) I'm up for anything those nights for clean fun. I'm not into some of the 'entertainment' that some others are.

I'll be there... but you knew that already.

Actually, what I drive at the Pro depends on how badly the car scares me at the Tour. ;) I can always opt for FS... ;)

Karen
Corey 03-22-2005 11:05 AM

I can't wait to go... and I owe you and Phil dinner also, so we have to hook up sometime. Hopefully Tom will be there too because I owe him a case of his favorite beverage ;)

Geez, I'm missing something. What happened to the STi?

AUTOwrXER 03-23-2005 10:57 AM

Tom will be driving with me at the Tour in SM. We already have the car in two classes for the Pro (ESP and L2), so Tom needs a ride. Anybody need a co-driver?
KC 03-23-2005 12:20 PM

I'd like a few events in mine before I start offering up co-drives. I've had 1 event in the car since I got it. Other than the EVO school right before it, the Atlanta Pro is going to be event #2.
trhoppe 03-23-2005 12:52 PM

not 100% sure yet, but i might be codriving his car for prosolos while still using the wrx for everything else. billy's RS is definitly a very well setup car and i love driving it.

Well, I have a different ride at Atlanta....

But at Wendover, I'll be codriving with Kevin Youngers in his 330ci. Then at Oscoda and Toledo, I'll codrive with Matt Grainger in the ITR. :)

Why not? No one else offered a season long codrive. :p The only reason I'm running with Kevin at Wendover is for a third event in the class. ;) We'll see how I fare in FWD.... it will be something different, that's for sure.

Hey Jen..

You still staying with me, or are you guys getting a hotel with your parents? Let me know. As always, you are more than welcome to stay!

Crap...I forgot this event was coming up so soon. Hopefully I'll be there (shooting for "not last" in Street Mod  ) in the 2.5RS.

Yep, still staying with you! Mom and Dad are staying at the Hilton Garden Inn. So I'm sure Phil wants to stay as far away from there as possible!

Thanks again, we really appreciate it!

That reminds me. Given that my parents are going to be around the weekend of the Pro. If anyone is interested in partaking in some "entertainment", please please please do me the favor of asking me privately. Or if you must refer to it while my parents are around, refer to it as "going to a dance club" or something! I really don't feel like explaining myself to my mother and father!! And the code word of "going for ice cream" that I told you guys about last year wouldn't work either, cuz my parents like ice cream and might want to go along!!

In the end, we may have to wait until the Toledo Tour or Pro or something (the scenery is very pretty in Oscoda, but I don't recall any "scenery"!)

Don't forget to print out your Subaru Claim Form so that an impound official (me! ;) ) can sign off on them!! ;) http://www.scca.com/_FileLibrary/File/SubaruClaimForm.pdf

Additionally, the claim form lists Jenny White, [emailprotected], as the person to contact for the required stickers. I sent an email requesting that a supply be sent so that we'll have them in impound/tech for next weekend, but I wouldn't count on it. Anyone competing should also send an email.... maybe they'll get the point. ;)

Karen

[on edit 4/12] : the reply I just got said, "There is a supply of plenty of the contingency stickers in the ProSolo trailer." Well, I replied back that was no longer true, or they were so hidden, no one could find them. So, again, make sure you send in your request!!
CamaroFS34 04-11-2005 12:09 PM

And for those who are Kumho drivers.....

Don't forget the agreement at the bottom of the list too!

I'll be there for my first ProSolo, 23 GS.

Karen
jcroy66 04-12-2005 09:39 AM

So Karen, what's the verdict? You said that whether you drove Joel's car for the Pro would depend on how badly it scared you during the Tour... So we gonna duke it out for Subaru money? :)
Imprezivblue 04-12-2005 10:12 AM

I shall be there again ;) I finally had a few people twist my arm hard enough again. Hopefully I learned some from my wrx experience last weekend.

Well, I wouldn't say I've tamed Stompy yet, but I think I've gained its respect enough that it's not going to try to kill me again. ;) Now, I just have to commit to driving either L2 or SM....

Actually that Red UGA helmet belongs to Tommy, and that was his 3rd run spin on Saturday. The mystery object is a cone.

Karen
too many drivers in the car... i get confused.... ;)
jcroy66 04-12-2005 11:36 AM

Imprezivblue, cool, looking forward to meeting you!

Karen, yeah, the age old question. Personally, in some ways, I'd like to race open, but I decided to stick with L2 again this year, because I wanted to leave our options open to pick up a co-driver if we had the chance.

But SM at a Pro certainly seems like a challenging proposition for an ESP car. (Then again, I would have thought the same thing for a Tour. *shrug*)

For ladies, we're getting close to hitting the 18 ladies that we need to bump up from 4 Challenge qualifiers to 8. As of this morning, I think we were at 15 competitors (including you).

Yeah, but it looks like Miranda's bailing, according to what WJM told me on Sunday and what she's written on SCCAForums. :(

I signed up Megan Marcum (a local) to run L1 in my Camaro, so I'm doing what I can. ;)

WJM, are the TS guys going to be in town this weekend? I'd heard they were going to be out of town for a race.

Karen, yeah, I think the 15 was if Miranda didn't make it (I saw her post on SCCAForums too).
WJM 04-12-2005 01:37 PM

the TS guys will be doing the EVO STi shootout...they will be on both sides of the fence too...they will be back late saturday.
DrBiggly 04-12-2005 02:19 PM

I've seen the TopSpeed EVO and the thing is just going to be silly by the time they complete it. It should be very very fast for the shootout.

I wish I was going to make it to the Pro, but I can't. :(
