Cool - how much and where can we order?!?!?!? :)
Vision 11-11-2002 12:52 PM

Wow that center pillar pod is nice and it'll be probably cheaper to buy than the defi or omori one's.
Need4Boost 11-11-2002 12:56 PM

Heh, cool. I should have my personal prototype done well before christmas so I won't feel bad spending so much time making a mold :)
dunk 11-11-2002 04:55 PM

Looks nice. I've been looking for a center pod that doesn't look to outrageous. The autometer might just fit the bill

-Duncan
tdxflex 11-11-2002 05:47 PM

how hard is it to see the two gauges on the cluster bezel? won't the steering wheel get in the way?
chobits 11-11-2002 05:54 PM

wow!
where can i get that
RexInNCA 11-11-2002 05:58 PM

That is such a good looking piece. The Autometer pod just looks a lot cleaner. I have the Defi and have not put it in yet. Might just need to sell it.

This thing is almost a running joke now. I remember nearly a year ago when someone saw it listed on their site (plain as day: "02WRX instrument bezel") with the now infamous Civic Si bezel in the picture.

It will never come out. Ever.

If it does, the event will be followed by the immediate icing over of hades.
Kwyjibo 11-11-2002 10:04 PM

Hades Icing over might not be such a bad thing...

We all have AWD :D
Stilletto 05-20-2003 07:00 PM

well
It's officially out.....for real...
BlueCamel 05-20-2003 08:03 PM

Link? Picture? Details?

Must say, the autometer.com site navigation sucks.

From the horses' mouth:

Thank you for your interest in Auto Meter Products. The 20015 has begun
shipping to our dealers. However we have a large back log & are shipping
in the order that the orders were received. I would suggest if you do
not have a 20015 on order to order one.

It's about bloody time!

-Mark
epsilon 05-21-2003 12:46 PM

Ok, the 20015 is the dual-pod instrument cluster bezel. Where's the triple dash pod shown in the SEMA pic? I don't see it anywhere in their catalog.

Uncle Scotty 05-22-2003 02:01 AM

I ordered mine in February...I hope the damn thing is in real soon.
My boost guage is getting lonely, all by itself, on the collum....
drees 05-22-2003 03:09 AM

Figures, as soon as I start working on my gauge setup, Autometer goes and releases the setup I was waiting for.

Well screw you Autometer, no gauge pod for me! :disco:

(Well, at least for a month or two)
Costanza 05-23-2003 05:12 PM

sweet, can you post pictures when you get it in? both installed and uninstalled. Thanks!
MorePower 05-26-2003 07:48 PM

The twin 52mm gauges in the cluster is a great idea, but why isn't it color matched? It's glossy black, whereas the OEM piece is matte dark grey... I dunno why, but it bugs me that it's that black -- I guess it looks like it doesn't belong to me. Oh well, I suppose it could be painted...
Costanza 05-27-2003 03:29 PM

here's a few quick pics:

front:

back:

quick dry fit no screws no gauges:

It looks like I have to trim the holes a bit to fit my greddy gauges. also part of the pod covers the top of the speedometer, but I think once I get all the screws in it will look okay.
drees 05-27-2003 03:45 PM

How's the quality of the unit compare to the OEM piece? Will there be room to route wires and stuff under the bezel without additional trimming?

Let us know if the bezel still covers the speedo with it screwed in, I really hope it doesn't as it shouldn't!

Wht not? I'm missing somthing.
Costanza 05-27-2003 04:25 PM

the plastic seems a tad brittle compared to the stock visor. it might shatter if you drop it from too high or flex it too much. There appears to be enough room for all the wires. i'll take pics later when i finish it.

I don't believe they have any plans to make us one...

Shoot, it took them over 2 years to produce the WRX one...

compare their pods... the old impreza gets an a-pillar pod that has to bolt on to the existing pillat, the WRX gets a full replacement pillar...

the older style just isn't a priority...:o
djerickd 05-27-2003 05:26 PM

Keep us updated Costanza!! I'm concerned about the fittment also...
Costanza 05-27-2003 05:49 PM

got them all in... it still blocks part of the speedometer. also I could only get one of the screws to go back in. the other didn't line up too good, so I had to dremel it a bit to make it fit. sorry bout the quality my camera sucks. I give it a 7/10 overall (the pod).

djerickd 05-27-2003 06:31 PM

Oh man, that sucks you would think they would get it right after holding off on releasing it for so darn long. Autometer gets the monkey finger!
drees 05-27-2003 07:01 PM

Well, we'll soon see if the pod that
Costanza got was either off or they're all like that. Everyone who ordered a pod, please post pics!
imprezive one 05-27-2003 07:37 PM

okay I might be an idiot but those pictures of it installed confuse me. my mind has blanked out for a second.... where is the glass in those pictures? Do you have to remove the glass that protects the cluster in order to install this? I don't get it! I wonder if there's any way that thing can be trimmed to make it fit right. If all of them are like this I am heart broken. :(
Costanza 05-27-2003 08:01 PM

you don't have to remove the glass part. just the plastic piece. I think if I leave it out in the sun and prop up the part that dips down I may be able to 'mold' it and make it intrude less into the cluster.
Leonardo 05-27-2003 08:43 PM

Hope Autometer is looking at this thread!

I can't think what they used for a mold, a crashed WRX?

Sheeeeesh!

Can someone e-mail link to them?

Leo
imprezive one 05-27-2003 09:48 PM

You might also be able to use a blow dryer to heat up just that top portion and then mold it up a little more. I think it'd be faster, more controlled than putting it out in the sun. I am determined to find a solution to this.
djerickd 05-27-2003 10:16 PM

Maybe it's just me but,

I think Autometer should have fixed this before it went on sale to the public...

but thats just me
MorePower 05-27-2003 10:32 PM

Well, on the bright side, the color looks better in your pics Costanza. But the fitment... well, it ain't exactly close. :(

From those pics, I hope that it is just yours because otherwise it looks better than the other photos. Sorry, but if it is just yours you should be able to get it replaced.

Anyway, I hope you get the problem fixed one way or another.
mrazntre 05-27-2003 10:41 PM

that right gauge appears to be pointing UP!!! (warped bezel?) *** ?

oh man.. after waiting for this thingy and contemplating what other gauge i should get for the left side.... i'm thinking..

"Autometer does it again. what a piss of chit!!!!!!!!"

Leo
Yeah, I emailed a guy named Brett over there this page and asked him some questions about the pod, we'll see if anything happens about it. He was pretty helpful with some other Autometer questions I had earlier, hopefully he'll come through.

Costanza 05-27-2003 11:39 PM

the gauges actually point straight, its probably just the angle that the picture was taken and the steering wheel wasn't level. yeah I'm gonna email autometer and see what they say.

Re: ugg... here it is.
I can't believe it doesn't fit right.. What a bunch of crap!
teamzzyzx 05-28-2003 01:41 PM

did i read right? it blocks the turn signals? does the signal lever hit the gauge? please post pics or various angles.
Undepelo 05-28-2003 02:06 PM

This may be a stupid question but does the Autometer bezel fit over the existing cluster plastic or must you remove the cluster plastic and replace it with the Autometer bezel? I would think that the bezel would fit the way it's shown in that picture if it was just placed over the plastic in the cluster.
djerickd 05-28-2003 02:11 PM

it blocks the turn signal indicator (the little green arrows), not the stalk...

It's a full replacement bezel. (which doesn't fit right)

Then it suks. I would contact Autometer and complain. If there is nothing to obstruct that section of the replacement bezel, there is no reason why it should not fit exactly like the OEM piece.
drees 05-28-2003 02:23 PM

Here's the reply I got from Autometer:
Dave,

Please feel free to post this on the message board.

First of all, thank you for bringing this to our attention. There are so many message boards out there and often problems are discussed, but we never know about it unless it is brought to our attention.

After reading these posts I immediately called Greg Day of Gauge Works. Gauge Works is our partner that designs and manufacturers all of our plastic pods, pillars, and bezel mounts. Greg Day owns Gauge Works, designs the products, and oversees the general operation of the company. Needless to say, he was deeply concerned about what we are seeing regarding this product. He claimed that it can be difficult to line-up the top screws and thought this could be the issue. If the top screws don't line-up into the threaded clips properly they will not thread in and "pull" the bezel up, clearing it from the speedometer. However, we currently have all the units from this last batch that he has run and we are "overnighting" a unit to him today so that he can do another fitting himself. I will email you back either tomorrow or Friday regarding the results. Lastly, Greg would like to speak directly to anyone that is experiencing this problem. If you wouldn't mind, please email me here at Auto Meter, [emailprotected], with your name, phone number, and best time to reach you and Greg will call you.

Thanks!

Sounds like they're more than willing to work with the people who have fitment issues, so if you do, send Matt an email!
Costanza 05-28-2003 04:11 PM

I just emailed them using the email posted so we'll see. Nice to know that they are working to solve any problems with their product. As djerickd said, only the green turn signals are blocked, not the stalks.
imprezive one 05-28-2003 05:12 PM

I was also thinking that maybe a few washers or spacers in the thread holes would "raise" the top portion of the bezel up to clear the speedometer.
