AWD Subaru vehicles with automatic transmission can only be towed with all four wheels OFF of the ground. This is a rather puzzling thought. If they were to put an automatic on a flatbed they would have to be able to drive it up the bed to avoid damaging the drivetrain. Cuz according to this it can only be towed with all 4 wheels off the ground. And they have to tow it with with 4 wheels on the ground to get it on the flatbed when the car is off. hmmmm... Guess they will just have to leave the automatics where they rest.

Ok. Im going to second, or is it third or fourth? the idea for a door ding sticker. I just stood there and watched some B***H open the door rest the door on my car and get in her car! As soon as she got in I ran up and checked the paint. Thank god there were no marks. If there had been I probably would have done something that would have prohibited me from writing this message on here for about 60 years. Or could that be considered self defence? Anyhow some people are just so inconsiderate.
| HIHO | 01-02-2002 06:24 PM |
I would be afraid that some a$$hole would door ding my car on purpose if I had a sticker like that on it. You know the guy that owns the primered Nova with duck tape to hold his drivers side door on. He don't give a **** about door dings.:(

I'll see what I can do on the "fanatic Sticker". :) Any suggestions. Remember, keep it simple.

heheheh...i'm printing one out right now for my rear window...all the slimy wreckers that patrol downtown are way too lazy to go back and get the flatbed...they'll just move on to easier prey.

Now thats what I'm talkin about. Same thing happens here in Buffalo. Tow truck drivers will just pass the car up.

JoelK, can you email the new file so that I can send it over to the printer? Also, maybe if you edited your original post to show a link to the group buy we could get more people in on it!
Thanks,
Todd
BTW, we should probably take a vote to decide if we want a white or clear background on the pic. Another idea was to make the word "any" appear in red as well to emphasize that a flatbed must be used!

Voting yes on background
I vote for a white background. Since this is going to be sitting on the inside of the window it will not be as easy to see if it is clear.
A yellow background might be even better since it would attract their attention better, but would not be a good idea if it affects the red.
The sticker will not look as good with a background if you plan to leave it on for an extended time, but I don't think this is intended to be a fashion statement. They need to be able to read the sticker if it's to do any good.

Anyone think of sending this file to v6scoobie at speed-fx to make a decal rather than a static sticky? The one thing I'm afraid of is the static sticky coming off the driver side window and screwing up the internal window mechanisms. If we go with decals, we can get the white background, smaller and reversed.
Any thoughts?

Absolutely, I believe that the sun will fade the colors. But the sticker will definitely get the point across.

That's a very good point if you plan to put some on the side windows. You don't want to lose them in the door. I don't think they will cause any harm to the mechanism, but I am not sure.
The large static versions are best for the front and rear. With the stickers size and with a background the tow driver will have to make a pretty good effort not to see them. Since you can remove it there should be no problem with visibility while driving.
Just remember that if you have your rear window tinted a static sticky may not be visible from the outside.

JoelK -
Would it be alright to submit your designs (with/without) text reverse and regular and big/small to v6scooby (speed-fx) for a quote to make them into more permanent (not static cling) decals/stickers? Please let me know as I didn't want to move forward without your permission.

Here ya go guys. I think something done by V6Scoobies would probably be better.
Keep in mind this is not in direct sunlight. I was parked in the carport.

just a sugestion, how about another sticker for the state inspection test warning?? AWD can not use the 2-wheel dynometer as stated on the manual, otherwise it will lose control and damage the car.

Hey theres another good idea! We are going to have all kinds of warning stickers plastered all over our cars =).
I'd like to add on the end of that.... otherwise it will lose control and damage the car and drive itself through the side of your shop.

How about that exact same thing but in Yellow lettering to make it stand out better (of course it would have to be on clear background). :)
I have tints, I need to make sure it can be seen.... ;)
This is cool....
Thanks.

chosenwon, what if you just print out the clear one like you had originally done and then apply just a plain white piece of adhesive over that to give it a white background. That should work.

You know...I'm willing to get in if the color lettering can be changed for the sake of it being seen with my tints....

Summary...
A link to the group buy is in the first post of this thread. BYBYV8 is running the group buy, and it sounds like it is almost over.
topcover was also talking about making some different size decals also, if you are interested, contact him and see what he's got cookin'.
otherwise, I posted some links to the Adobe Illustrator files and a hi-res jpeg file in this thread, read back and they should be easy to find. Those links are still active, feel free to download and print away.

BigElm, sorry for the lack of reply, I have been wasting too much time in OT. :D
To be honest, I don't think it will make a difference. The clear material is pretty week, unless it is just my printer.

I saved the pic and went to stapes and got sticker paper.I printed it 3x5, 5x7 . 3x5 looks the best. Sticker paper was 5.99 for 6 sheets .i have`nt put it on yet but i will. And it might fade after awile but i can allways make anotherFor 5.99 I can make 12 stickers. Not bad.

Wow, bumping an old thread... Anyway, I realized the links were way out of date. Here is a current link to download the illustrator file for this warning sticker.

Here's a low-res image of the sticker.

Feel free to print this out, use it, etc. If anyone wants to use this design, start a group buy again, etc, that's fine. But I'm going to keep giving away the source for free to anyone who wants it.

Yeah, I noticed that, That's why I bumped this thread with updated links. I don't really care if he's selling a derivative of my decal. I just wanted to bump this back up so people can have the option of printing this one out for free, since that was my intention when I originally created it, to make something for the subaru community.

if they bust my car while towing it, because of stupidity like that, they're buying me a new one.
ignorance is no excuse, just like they tell you when there are no signs and they ticket you anyway.
in this case not only is ignorance not an excuse, it's inexcusable, if your job is to tow vehicles, it's in your best interest to know what vehicles can and can't be towed and what methods are required to do so correctly.

This is a great idea!
There are some real picky people around my friend' s neighbourhood. These people have nothing better to do than to call in the tow truck on parked cars.
