YES, this started for me at about 6k miles. I ripped off bezel, but it's still there. Goes away when I apply pressure like you said.
Rattle came back and I noticed that it was the mounts right above the gauge cluster that was vibrating onto the plastic housing of the gauge cluster. I took out my trim tool and pushed a decently thick piece of felt between each mounting point and the rattle went away. Soon as I took the felt out it started rattling again and you could stop it by pressing on the dash, on the top, near the vent, etc etc. So give it a shot and see if it helps for you.

Rattle came back a few days later and noticed the clear cover on the gauges would rattle top center if you thumped on it. I crammed some thick felt between the clear cover and the white mounting points at the bottom. Did this on both sides are so far havent gotten the rattle.
Thanks I might try this. Sounds related to my rattle. I have my trim piece off as well, goes away whenever I apply pressure to the clear face of the gauge cluster.

Same here. I mentioned it to the dealer while getting an oil change and they fixed it quickly by insulating the cluster piece. If you remove the plastic cluster surround (two screws towards the top of it), then you should be able to shove some foam in there and stop it from rattling.
edit: looks like this is the same rattle that negativeping and rockingawayawd are referring to. Theres a good number of people on the FB page with the same complaint.

Ive been rattle free since adding that folded up felt to the locations where the cluster was rattling...
Now if we can just find a fix for the passenger B pillar.
If it isn't that piece and it's actually the mounting point of the VIN plate you can try wedging something in-between the VIN to snug it up. I used a little strip of inner tube to get it all snug and since it's black really didnt look odd if a little part stuck out from the VIN.

My 2002 wrx rattle comes from the corner. Initially i though it was those 6 white clips or long the plastic itself, but i removed it(kinda, because i cant remove the plug that has on the midlle, i think its air conditioner sensor) and the rattle still persists.
Its a different sounding rattle than all ive heard until now.
My cars VIN plate is on the engine bay, i dont see anything else loose on the interior to make the noise :s
Just came from spending 4 hours with a friend, removing a lot of plastic and going for several drives to see if the rattle would disappear, it didnt :(
Thanks to everyone who has contributed!
I had the VIN plate rattle / airbag clicking noise, I followed the DIY but found it was the metal clips near the airbag that made a clicking noise that seem to com from the airbag. I couldn't access these metal clips. I just used some soft side velcro tape on the window and vin plate, to pin down the plate and the metal clips it was attached too. Problem minimized, its still there but 90% better and I can live with it
Also 04 hatch rear rattle, I found it was the trim on the back gate that wasnt cut properly and was hitting the gate at the edges. I used velcro tape where the trim is touching the metal, problem solved.
rattling door switches, again velcro tape on the contract points stop the noise.
some reference pics, prying off the demister duct (note this is the passenger side)
And the offending metal clips (two) making the clicking noise behind the vin plate that sounds like its coming from the airbag
My car doesnt have a vin plate there, its on the engine bay. But the rattle still looks like its coming from that exact spot!
Applying pressure from above on the dashboard doesnt seem to stop the rattle though. :(

just to follow up on this a few weeks later, I bought some sticky felt from hobby lobby for 1$ and stuck it all over that protruding clip piece on the gauge cluster and several spots that I think there was contact. no more rattle.

Maybe its the thin irons that connect the lock to door handle inside the car. If its that, put some foam between the irons and the door panel.

I tried these, didn't change anything. Pulled the entire cluster out and added foam to the screw in points (all 6) and that did it!
Now something in my driver side front window is rattling, it stops rattling if I have my hand on the glass, put any pressure on the inside door panel or have the window down even a crack.

Have a sub in the back of my wagon, pretty annoying rattle from passenger side of the wagon door with moderate bass. Turns out it was the little plastic cover for the wing mounting bolts. Put some foam tape on the sides of it and popped it back down, no more rattle. No idea why the drivers side doesn't rattle.

It sounds like BS, indeed. Read the warranty contract small printSo, if the sudden rattle appeared randomly after 6 months is not covered, but if it's caused by something that failed under normal wear an tear (i.e. a plastic clip holding the trunk liner)it is?

I have not done it in my Subaru, but I promise you it would help with the noise of the car for SURE. I have done all my previous cars and it's always a huge improvement, if your objective is to quiet your cabin that is. It does add weight and it is somewhat costly, but applied in smart areas and the right way and all it possibly can do is help. I'd love to do it!!! I may put it on the list because after explaining this I would love a quieter cabin! I have a nameless dual 4" dual wall with no cat.... Sounds amazing but I could use less when I'm in the car :-). I'd prolly put under the backseat and carpet down to the floor. Also up the back rest, doors... And stop there. I think that would make a huge difference. Hope this helps.

These are all big points for me as well. A quiet cabin would be really nice since I do a lot of driving. My Mazda 3 was a more quiet ride than this. I'm also a big audiophile, so the sound improvement would also be appreciated. For you're in the south FL area, we can make something work.

2016 WRX w/ 5K. Now that the weather is getting colder, I just started getting a rattle from the ceiling, right where the moonroof/map light buttons are. Seems more pronounced at low RPMs. Very annoying.
If I push up on the ceiling in this area, the rattle stops. Any suggestions? I was thinking if I slide open the moonroof cover and stick some foam inside between the metal and fabric, maybe that would help, but that would be pushing down on the ceiling. Seems like pushing up solves the problem.
Please help. Thanks.

Just fixed that annoying A Pillar rattle on my 2010 WRX. Most of that rattle was from the plastic body clip that's in the center of the A pillar .Fixed and quiet !

Still diagnosing this rattle. Below is a pic with the moonroof cover slid open. If I pinch together the ceiling fabric surrounding the moonroof with the silver plastic part inside the moonroof area, that seems to stop the rattle. I guess I need a way to pull these together. I tried a large binder clip, but it couldn't latch onto the silver plastic part. Any ideas? Thanks.

How about, a rear trunk squeaking (2014 WRX sedan)? I've checked the bars running on top, applied some lithium grease and pieces of foam tape here and there...same issue.
Can't hear it unless I have a seat folded down, which I do because my bass from sub comes through a lot better. Which by the way anyone know of a better option on a sedan to create an opening?
The front dash/A-pillar on the car is a disaster, but I'm too weird about ripping out any panels. My Civic Si was rock solid, completely rattle-free. The difference? the VTEC 'kick' was pretty sad compared to coming on boost with the WRX, so can't complain too much...
So I thought my rattles from from the wires hitting the door panel also, but after seeing that everything was nice and wrapped from the factory I started probing around. Here's what I found, and I'm happy to report that after this MY DOORS ARE SILENT! Now I can actually just concentrate on the music instead of this horrible rattle. Hope this helps others!!
Here's a video showing these things making noise!:diaf::diaf:

I had a rattle coming from the third eye brake light. I took the cover off and put iinsulation in between the plastic and the metal as well as between the plastic in the third eye and it cleared up the noise.

Had a rattle there too and I just opened the housing up and shoved foam in there, haha it seems to have stopped it.

I've got a 2009 WRX sedan, and I've got a rattle coming from my passenger side mirror area. It starts when I go above 50 mph, and it goes away when I fold in the side mirror. I've tried replacing the whole mirror assembly to get rid of the rattle, but it's still there. Any advice?

Anyone been able to figure out the glovebox creaking/rattle on the 2015+? I tried putting weatherstripping everywhere but it doesn't help. It goes away if i push up on the glovebox though :(

I've got a dash rattle that's annoying the hell out of me. If I push on the dash around the source of the noise real hard it shushes up but I'd rather be able to have my hands to shift. Its left of the steering wheel, the plastic right below the air vent.

I used sheets of armaflex with aluminum cover thickness 3mm this material fixed nearly all rattling , I even breakdown the back mirror and using a heat gun and placed a layer

Re: Dash/Windshield rattle - i found a fix on here somewhere about using foam to slide between the dash plastic and the windshield. Works very well. I used foam strips from a Window Air Conditioner sealing pack from Lowes. the stuff is 1"-2" square, but compresses down thin enough to slide into the crack. +1 for this fix

Deadened the trunk bottom and sides to help with exhaust noise and rattles from under rear of car. Now to do the entire cabin.

2012 wrx hatch owner here.
Driving through the Bronx on bumpy roads I finally had enough of the dashboard rattles and did the A pillar fix using weather striping on the tabs that meet the dash.
Happy to say the dash rattle/noise when hitting bumps and uneven road is fixed. Even in 19 degree weather like we have been having lately, I haven't heard them.
Recently I have been hearing a squeak that almost sounds like a cricket chirp coming from the passengers side door. I manipulated the passengers door panel and replicated the sound, but still don't know what's exactly the cause. Seems to happen on my morning commute, I don't hear it on the way home. Any suggestions?

2014 Sedan Rear Rattles

I found that three plastic hatches on my sedans rear deck lid that are covering the child seat anchor points rattled like an SOB! Popped them off till I come up with a better solution. Quiet for a while now another intermittent one showed up, might be the headliner?? Next step.....puncture my ear drums or spray foam the whole interior!! :sadbanana:
