Can't Resist, Here are Pics of my WRC Wing
I just got it installed and repainted and coated. I dont know how long these images will last on imageshack. I will host it properly on my website in a couple of weeks. Here are a few early pics.

I debadged the trunk and now all I need are the hood pins on the trunk.

Very nice ride, but i am definately not feelin that wing. If you dont mind how much did that cost?
cbr600f3 08-26-2005 12:03 AM

I bet it costs a pretty penny..no?
STI_Jaguar 08-26-2005 12:11 AM

People either LOVE this wing or they HATE it.

I happen to LOVE it.

It was Pricey but worth every penny. Anything you see on the 2005 WRC car will eventually be on this. Anything that isn't won't be added. Except for my gran turismo sticker.
estrada42 08-26-2005 12:17 AM

Fantastic. Love it.
STI_Jaguar 08-26-2005 12:21 AM

The S9/10 rectangular Carbon Fiber mirrors and the little GPS silver Box Roof thingy will be next.
Airborne Guy 08-26-2005 12:35 AM

looks great, definetly will get some looks with that on now!!
Homerisking 08-26-2005 12:54 AM

nope....not my thing...maybe with a widebody kit. Still....gotta give you :)
llhype12ll 08-26-2005 12:58 AM
nope....not my thing...maybe with a widebody kit. Still....gotta give you :)
Yup, the wing will look alot better with a nice widebody :)
stArs Inked 08-26-2005 01:38 AM

Do you mind sharing what a pretty penny is?
I promise no ridicule, just curiosity, it is definetly unique!
saejosh 08-26-2005 01:52 AM

very nice that is one of the coolest mods i have sceen in along time way to be unique
oldmansan 08-26-2005 02:45 AM

I
couldn't live with it. Just me. Not trying to be negative, just doesn't work for me. I thought the STI wing was a bit much. To each his/her own.

San
E-Wrex 08-26-2005 04:03 AM

Don't much fancy it, but to each his own. I kinda like the way it sits, subaruwrxparts has a cf one that looks freakin sweet.
Chi_San 08-26-2005 05:35 AM

It's a replica of the 2003 WRC car wing?

No offense, but unless you did a full 2003 STi Bodykit, it looks kinda bad. At least paint the top of the thing, just leave the center stabailzers black.

I'm not sure if a widebody kit would help much. And, it's not a GPS roofbox, it's a roof scoop, it pulls 'clean', cool air into the cabin, since the rally cars don't have AC.

I might just get that wing for my Legacy. IMO, big wings look better on big cars, the STi stock wing has always looked better on a legacy than an Impreza.
STI_Jaguar 08-26-2005 06:28 AM

Yep, I will be getting the full widebody kit for next summer...or whenever the cash flow allows me to own it. The wing ended up costing me $2500 with the entire repaint.

I know having this wing alone would be silly without the full conversion. But it will be cool to see my car being transformed slowly into the WRC car. I am even picky on which WRC widebody kit I am gonna get. For me the 2005 racing season had the best look. both widebody and front bumpers/rear bumpers etc.

This wing is from Prodrive and not a Burn-Up/launsport replica. The replica looks kinda different when carefully observed.

I will take this car as far as my money allows me to go- and if that means one day having to tear out the interior and turn it carbon fiber then I might do it. For now I am not in a rush.
Imprezanize 08-26-2005 07:04 AM

is it street legal?

Xhermes 08-26-2005 07:52 AM

Woa pretty cool! Nice job, finally a wing that should provide some decent downforce ;)
jacobsen1_ 08-26-2005 09:35 AM

I actually think it look good. I love people who do the rally look the right way which you are doing. People who throw the WRC stickers on the side and nothing else are lame, but if you do it right, it's really cool IMO to do this. I have the 1:18 version of the car, and if I could afford to do a 1:1 like you are doing I would, but for me I can't even afford a STi, so I drive a plain old wrx and love it. If you have the $ to do the conversion right, I think it's very cool. I can't wait to see your car progress through the stages. I personally like it better than the stock with if you're going for the rally look.

Good Luck!

Ben

(oh yeah, can you post a picture out the back window or in the rear view, I've always wondered what that would look like with that wing?)
Xymox 08-26-2005 10:08 AM

MY GAWD. That is just entirely too much for daily driving/road use. Goodness.
Anglophile 08-26-2005 10:48 AM

Well, nobody's gonna argue about whether or not that thing's functional that's for sure.
specialev 08-26-2005 11:19 AM

I didn't like that thing at first, I was gonna post something negative about it. But it grew on me by the time I got to the bottom of this thread. I like it much better than the STI wing, I don't even really like the wing on my WRX.

Way to go, it looks cool.
leeden 08-26-2005 11:25 AM

Awesome. I would love to have the WRC wing but I'm curious about the rearward visibility. It also seems too agressive and adds too much drag for a daily driver, have you noticed any changes in your fuel economy?
IronMonkeyL255 08-26-2005 11:31 AM

I think it looks good.

Can't wait to see the full conversion (especially that hood).

Silver box thingy is a camera.
1fstwrbwrx 08-26-2005 01:00 PM

The spoiler may not look that great now, but when all the other changes are made, the sum will be greater than the parts. Keep us posted.
Xymox 08-26-2005 01:01 PM

esp. when you need to get to the grocery store in a hurry (and need the downforce).
Bonefizz 08-26-2005 01:03 PM

You could shred some serious cheese with that!!!!
o2sys 08-26-2005 01:18 PM

Now that will def. attract cops, good luck trying to say it came stock like that lol
the_colombian 08-26-2005 01:21 PM

I like it but Im not feeling it on a daily driver. I think its a bit too much. Are you going to do the hood grill as well? That would compliment the wing.
o2sys 08-26-2005 01:40 PM

Can you see through ur rear view mirror with all those fins?
bemani 08-26-2005 02:47 PM

Good job on getting the correct color!
SoareS 08-26-2005 04:04 PM

hey i just wanted to say i like that wrc wing. but in my opinion..paint what ever is black.. to World rally blue. but keep the fins inside the spoiler black.
Lookin good tho :)

No way! I think that leaving the slats unpainted makes them blend in at first glance. It will really scream "OMG LOOK AT ME" if it were all blue.

STi_Jaguar - That wing is awesome. Having a true Prodrive WRC part on your car = coolness. Are you going to ditch the BBS wheels for a more rally look wheel? The wheels from Paulie's car would really lend the WRC look.

STI_Jaguar,

Very nice man!!! As someone who just finished (are they ever really finished, he he he) a WRC type look myself, I gotta hand it to ya, the wing looks awesome!!!

To me, the devil is in the details. In the case of the 2004-2005 WRC look, that wing will make all the difference.

Super job man!

:)

veightkiller 08-26-2005 11:36 PM

that wing would look good on your car if you have a widebody kit
00Maddog 08-26-2005 11:53 PM

love the wrc wing, looks great. the 05 sti rear wheel arch trim helps it work without the wide body kit, at least I think so.

put the corona sticker on!!!

he's got the paint job just right. no need to paint the top of the wing. good enough for wrc good enough for me!
pics taken (by me) from wrc showcar at petter solberg meet and greet in nj.

I hate to admit it, but I think the wing looks great. Let us know if you find an 05 WRC widebody kit- I want one, too. Hate to think of what it will cost though....

If I remember right Four Star Motorsports carries a nice WRC widebody for each of the GD's.

(I'm not sure if its on the site, but they'll email you an Excel sheet with parts and pricing.)

cool wing(s) but if the cops bust peoples chops for the stock STi spoiler... good luck man

I like it except for how far it hangs off the trunk...
TacticalNuke 08-27-2005 10:52 AM
I like it except for how far it hangs off the trunk...
That provides a better fulcrum for more leverage with equivalent downforce.

How much did you pay for it?

That is the best aspect of it, IMO. The fact that the STI wing sits flush with the rear of the car (profile view) makes it look goofy from some angles. The overhang of the wing makes the trunk look longer and more proportional to the rest of the car.

I like that wing!! Dude can you give me some info how to order the wing. I've been looking for this but all I can find are replica. Thanks
Drakuun 08-28-2005 06:05 PM

You'd think for the amount of money you pay for an STi they'd put a wing like this on instead of the ugly 2 piece faky they give you stock.

Nice wing!
jamesonc 08-28-2005 06:39 PM

I think it looks ****in' awesome...but I'd definetly paint the whole thing WRB...I don't dig the black fins too much.

Do you find more punks trying to race more now?
