I'm new to big races, but the Texas Spokes club has prepared me well. I'm hoping to be somewhere in the trophies. Todd Milstead from Dallas has been fast, as well.

1. After talking to her this weekend, it sounds like Miranda is most likely going to be joining us in STXL. Yay! :)
2. After my performance this weekend, I'm not looking like much of a National "Challenger".
Luckily for me, though, the Solo2 National Championships don't penalize a competitor for either:
1. Shifting to second instead of pressing the gas at the start line. Hmm, how many years have I been driving a stick shift?? 14??? You'd THINK I might have some clue how this process works by now... :p FWIW, the only thing I can figure is that my brain knew that a right-hand-side extremity was supposed to move at the 3rd yellow. Except it sent the signal to my right HAND instead of my right FOOT. And then I was so distracted by screwing that up on the left-side course that I went ahead and did the exact same thing on the right-side!! :disco: Woohoo, way to blow 2 of my Sunday am runs!! :p Sheesh, no one ever told me that the fastest way to launch a WRX doesn't involve shifting to 2nd before leaving the line...
2. Redlighting. I redlit my best runs on both the right and left side this weekend.
Unfortunately, cones still count, and I was absolutely plagued by cone-age this weekend, as well. I definitely need to get my head back together in the next month... :(

At the DC Pro, I left my car in neutral for one launch. By the time I figured out why I wasn't moving despite releasing the clutch and giving throttle, I ended up with a 1.3 reaction time. Even so, I still nearly caught the other driver (Matt Braun in an M3) before the first turn -- gotta love 300+ AWHP in the wet.

That's alright, I took a fun run in a friends BMW the other day and just forgot to shift to second. The course had a pretty long first gear section at the start and I rode the rev limiter in first for a couple of seconds before he pointed out that I was still in first. The damn rev limiter on those things is sooooooo soft ;)

BP Vette
I enjoy the class so much, hell, MY Civic might be in STX next season. If I'm going to bring a knife to a gunfight, it might as well be a cheaper knife. :) That BMW would be STX legal too. TWO STX CARS?! INSANITY! And neither of them WRX's, let alone WRX wagons, which I hear are THE CAR TO HAVE, BAR NONE in STX.
You wanted an STi in AS before a C4, in an event that's not a ProSolo? I still think the order is: 993, C4, S2000 ('04), STi in stock condition.
I'd agree with you there, but my request for an STi ride was more because I am friends with a local guy who was thinking of taking his and it would have been a little cheaper than a lot of the guys with competitive cars ask for codrives.
Reto: 6 practice launches, 12 competition runs, one challenge run and one challenge redlight :furious: and no breakage in Steve's car. Of course now I'll probably break the Croys'. :)
